I picked up this book awhile back, but because I was busy recovering from a car accident didn't read it right away. This is the first book I ever got that is a disguise, not what was purchased. A complete fraud. When I opened the book, instead of it being "Fat to Firm at Any Age" it was "The Green Pharmacy". I was ripped off. And since I misplaced the receipt I can't get a refund or replacement. I will never buy another book by Rodale or Prevention endorsed book or magazine because of this fraudulent misrepresentation.
This book was a great find in the book and music department of a neat thrift store in San Antonio. There were religious weight loss books on the surprisingly organized shelves that turned me off immediately. In the book I've recently begun reading, the inside the cover lists "The 10 Commandments of the Fat-to-Firm" that could've been a turn off. But by Commandment #2 I was sold: "Thou shalt tall pleasure, not calories". My health goals for 2011 are to lower my blood pressure and risk for heart disease, boost my body's immunity and decrease it's sensitivity, and shed 30 lbs. by New Year's Eve. Prevention Health Books' Fat to Firm will be one of the tools to save me from festering in too much fat that has not been good for my heart, body, and spirit.
Every once in awhile you gotta read a book that will stimulate your mind that will hopefully stimulate your body!! Such is the case with this book. Took a break from the fiction and am learning how to move my body. You know what "they" say, if you don't take care of your body it won't take care of you. So, the review: so many helpful things in this book and the format is well written and segmented. It covers pretty much everything you'd want to know about weight, eating, exercising and aging in an easy enjoyable read. It's a book by the editors of Prevention.
A lot of good suggestions about changing your thinking, practical applications and self tests to see where you are currently and what you can change about losing weight, being fit and staying that way. I will apply a lot of this to myself over the next...
