I think this book would be better titled, Help Your Baby Communicate. Thankfully, the author understands that a child can only speak when he has some kind of meaning to convey. All of the suggestions and activities in this book are centered around cognition, motor skills, and sensory input--the very building blocks of communication. The fact that the child speaks is almost secondary once they learn to communicate. In fact, viewed in the realm of communication, speech is one tool, albeit a highly effective one, for sharing meaning.
Anyway, I digress. This book has all of the important elements of successful communication. It is both theoretically and practically sound.
