Adam Blade is the house name for the Working Partners Ltd. ghostwriters who write the Beast Quest and Sea Quest series.

Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father’s paintings of historic English battles – which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father’s office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom.

As a boy, Adam would spend days imagining who could have first owned the sword and shield. Eventually, he created a character – Tom, the bravest boy warrior of them all. The idea for Beast Quest was born.

When Adam grew up and decided that he wanted to be a writer, he was stuck for ideas – until he remembered the old sword and shield, and the imaginary boy he had created when he was young. Adam decided to bring Tom fully to life so that readers could go on the kind of adventures that he always wanted to when he was that age… And still does, even though he’s grown up!

When he’s not writing Beast Quest books, Adam enjoys visiting museums and ancient battle sites. His main hobbies are fencing and football. He also spends a lot of time at home running around after his two exotic pets – a tarantula named Ziggy, and a capuchin monkey named Omar. These little rascals were the inspiration for two of the Beasts that Tom faces on his Quest – Arachnid and Claw.

Sadly, Adam does not have his own Fire-Dragon or Horse-Man. But he really wishes he did!

A very good book I will look for the next two soon because they are by one of my favourite authors who has also written Beast Quest and Sea Quest. Fire and Fury tells you the history prior to Beast Quest.

At last, the long quest back and forth across the face of Avantia is over. The pieces of the Mask of Death have been found and the great evil has once again risen to destroy the world. Families have been destroyed. Friends have betrayed them. The heroes have gathered for the last battle and the armies of Derthsin have arrayed themselves between the great beasts and their master.

The irony is, that, the long journey had taken them so far from home only to have the final piece of the puzzle...and the sight of the final battle...be right back where they started. Now it only remains to be seen who will win and who will be cast into the shadows. And Tanner has seen a prophecy that one of the great beasts themselves will die in that battle.

And so it begins...

Adam Blade wraps up his 4 book series of the Chronicles of Avanti with arguably the best book in the series. The emotions and the story telling have found their way to a strong ending and a well crafted adventure.

Once again, I will warn that some of the story telling during the battle can result in blood and deaths, but the author hasn't gone over board into graphic detail and only presented them as facts.

I actually sat down and read these four books together over the span of 4 days so, rather than being 4 individual books, I was able to treat them as one long, continually story from beginning to end.

I recommend this book...and this series...highly for young readers but would caution that it would be for those at the higher end of that range as 12 year olds perhaps moving into middle school years.

Hope you enjoy...

Blade really went to town on the anxiety use and as a sufferer of anxiety I feel Blade hasn't even experienced it himself. He had characters asking questions but didn't go past '?' It was just

'?' He said.

As a reader I'm set in my ways of it being

'?' He asked.

The characters didn't seem to have much depth and the characters who should be strongest like a wizard just sat in the background.

I knew when I got half way through the book and the final battle was starting it was going to deteriorate fast. It was unbelievable even for a YA book. It's almost like Blade got to this 4th book and was bored but was obliged to finish the story.

It started as a 4 star book but the further I got the less I enjoyed it. Things that made no sense, weak characters, dragged out endings. On the upside it was a book I could fall into without needing previous books for it to flow. Blade filled the gaps seamlessly.

This is the fourth book in the Chronicles of Avantia series. Four young people, along with the Beasts they are connected to, are trying to save Avantia from the evil Derthsin. They have three parts of the mask that will give ultimate power to the wearer and now they are seeking the fourth part. It’s not that they want to use the mask but that they need to keep it out of the hands of the evil Derthsin. Tanner, Gwen, Castor and Rufus have banded together in this quest. Tanner is the leader and his beast is a phoenix. The others have their own unique beast pairing. As Tanner and the phoenix Firepos talk to one another, look out for each other and fight the evil forces, one is reminded of the relationship between Eragon and Saphira. There’s also a similarity to the ring in The Lord of the Rings as here the mask offers the wearer ultimate power and calls to those who have worn it, much like a siren beckoning. Blade’s book is fast-paced and engaging. The characters are diverse and their interaction is interesting. As the confrontation with Derthsin looms, the suspense builds in intensity. This is a quick read but it is high powered and action-packed. Young readers will not be disappointed and will thrill over the end of this quest.

The Kindom of Avantia is in great peril once again, as Tanner and his friends attempt to make a stand against their evil nemesis, Warlord Derthsin. The foursome's loyalty is tested as the Kingdom of Avantia is ruptured from within by the evil Derthsin's shadowy forces who have destroyed and ravaged Tanner's homeland.

I enjoyed how there was special focus on the relationships and dynamics within the group. The rivalry between Tanner and Castor, and the elusiveness of Rufus, was particularly compelling and really added to the elements of emotion and sensitivity within the book. The adventurous theme aroused a sense of energy and fervor to the pages.

However, I felt that this book was merely a filler- the storyline was narrow and cramped, and there wasn't any minor, side-lining themes to add a bit of intrigue. I would have cherished any detail regarding the plight of the citizens of Avantia, yet it was entirely focused on the foursome. I truly felt it was one dimensional and unambitious.

The popularity of the series means that this addition will be devoured by young readers, and another sequel will no doubt follow. I hope Blade will deliver a more substantial read the next time.
