This was a quirky book about a man who's family is in crisis-his daughter and his wife and he ends up in a meditation center in France where his daughter has run off to to be with her "llama" boyfriend. All manner of strange things happen to him. I felt the end was lacking, but it did keep me reading.

Closer to 3.5. I really liked the story. But it was nothing over the moon.

The main character is a man in crisis and in many ways relatable. He does have so irksome qualities but, the story hits on a lot of midlife crisis subjects.

A charming wee book, which had been sadly neglected in my TBR box for 17 years. Some of the details are quite dated (new fangled mobile phones, Discman, floppy disc, etc) and I had a few niggles with the translator (his obsession with Lilac being one) but the overall story of middle aged man, cynical of his wife’s interest in Buddhism who reluctantly agrees to go to a meditation retreat and, despite his skepticism, actually experiences a transformation was pretty heartwarming. It also really moved me at several points (but I’m a bit emotional this week).

I started this book in summer 2017 and had a loooong reading pause so when I continued two days ago with hundred pages to finish i couldnt really get into it again.I remember not quiet liking the humor though but maybe that´s because I´m not a middle-aged woman (lol). Anyway read if you want to but I don´t think I´ll read it again.

Hm, the overall idea of this book reminds my of my own life, except the weird happy end. Fun to read as nothing continues as expected. Well: what to do next?

Mann steckt in Midlife-crisis. Tochter liebt tibetischen Lama und will nach Indien...... Puh!

Sehr unsympathischer Protagonist, bisschen wirre Geschichte an Stellen. Aber sehr gut geschrieben, man steckt trotzdem irgendwie voll drin

Was machen wir jetzt?
Gently down the stream

Life is but a dream,

Very funny tale of a man going through a mid-life crisis who skeptically "finds himself" at a budhhist commune. Written by a woman but gives insight into men in relationships. A new-agey twist

This was just hilarious! I really loved it and such a good break from my regular reading. It reminded me of Vonnegut in so many ways.
