Mercer Mayer's Little Critter is invited to spend the night at a friend's house—but will he be able to sleep in a strange place?
Come along with Little Critter as he visits a friend where someone in funny clothes opens the door, the napkins are folded to look like hats, and the bedroom is very dark. With his usual style and humor, Mercer Mayer's best-selling character, Little Critter, will make children laugh at an all-too-familiar situation This full-color Step 2 reader book will help young children ages 4-7 deal with their first time away from home.

Is it just me or is the friend Little Critter stays with super fancy? Is he the Little Critter universe equivalent of Richie Rich? The friends have a good old time playing at the friend's house and the dog gets into sufficient mischief. At the end everyone seems happy (although I'm sure whoever has the clean up won't be) and Little Critter goes home.
My favourite part is at the end where Little Critter says that although he had fun sleeping over with his friend, being at home is best.
In "Little Critter Sleeps Over," Little Critter spends the night at a friends house who lives much differently than him. Critters friend lives in a mansion, with a butler and funny clothes. Critter tries to have fun by jumping in the pool, playing volleyball and hide and seek, and by playing with the friends expensive toys. Critter finds himself getting more and more discouraged as he realizes that he does not fit in at the friends house because his things aren't as nice. Critter becomes embarrassed when he accidentally makes a big mess, but is glad when it is time to go home.
I love the different emotions those in this story exhibit Little Critter goes to stay at his friends house. I love how he solves his problem when he feels scared and lonely at night. I love that his books shows that those from different economic circumstances can be friends.

This is one where jotting a note here on goodreads is the only way I could possibly remember that I even read this book. It's about Little Critter spending the night at his friend's house and getting into trouble because the ...dog runs through the house with dirty paws... I think. I also have a sense of it being about Little Critter being not quite as "civilized" as his friend's family. I may have to read it again to retain a little more of the story.
A book my 6 yr old loved, a little old for my preschoolers. A solid reading level 2 book, this reader has a good amount of advanced vocabulary words, but not so long that it discourages a new reader. Used it for his read out loud book, which was perfect. It took about 15 mins for him to read and had just enough new vocabulary words to make it challenging. Also, it was a fun and interesting story he could get into. He liked it so much, he asked for more by this author. Great reading book!
Little Critter books were always so of my favorite to read as a kid. They are great because if you do really enjoy the stories and the characters, there are so many of them to choose from. Would definitely recommend for a child that is just beginning to learn how to read.
Little Critter sleeps over at a friend’s house. The two friends make quite a mess before Little Critter goes home. Cute story with great illustrations.
Little Critter goes to his friend's house that is very fancy. He and his friend have fun playing together, and he tries to be brave about sleeping away from home. Even though he had lots of fun, Little Critter decides that home is best.
