In the sultry heat of the Big Easy, desire can be a dangerous thing... Gabriel Toussaint Giodarno has returned to New Orleans to make amends with his estranged family. The last thing he expected was to be hounded by a magical wannabe-guardian angel-or to be tempted by a beauty who's strictly off-limits.
Angelique Rousseau has always lived a safe, uneventful life. But when her friend's twin brother arrives, Angelique finds herself drawn to him. Neither Gabriel nor Angelique is prepared for the intensity of their joined passions, or what the voodoo spirits have in store for them...

Tempt Me is Gabriel’s story. I’ll admit, he can be such a jerk sometimes. In fact, I didn’t like him at first. He was standoff-ish, clearly distressed and tortured about something, but I didn’t know why. Alexander crafts an intriguing hero in Gabriel. There’s a big mystery surrounding him and I was dying to know what it was. In the end, I found that I loved his dark possessiveness. Loved his barely contained demeanour and loved him during the sex scenes.
Angelique was a little harder for me to like. I didn’t hate her, but just thought that she was an okay heroine. It wasn’t until the end of the book that I thought, hey this chick is cool. I loved the fact that she wasn’t resistant to Gabriel’s demands. Whatever he wanted, she gave. And it takes a strong person to give so willingly. I had to admire that in Angelique.
And there’s also Emmanuel, Gabe’s “friend” who always seems to be there in the most heated of times. I loved him and thought his restraint was endearing. Untouched and unable to act, he was an interesting character to put into the mix with Angelique and Gabriel. I very much enjoyed his presence in the book. Familiar faces return and I loved reading about BD once again. He has some inspiring quotes in this one which only makes me love him more!
If you liked Possess Me, then you’ll love Tempt Me. With Alexander’s ability to write sinfully decadent scenes, I devoured this book a little too quickly.
I remember the first time I picked up a “naughty” romance book and fell in love. It was a book called Truly Scrumptious by R.G. Alexander. She opened my eyes to the sinfully sexy and made me realize I was not alone in my fantasies. Although that was a few years ago, I always find myself having a fan girl moment whenever I am given the opportunity to review one of her books. Tempt Me, is a follow up to a trio of stories in an anthology entitled Possess Me. If you have not read Possess Me and learned of the magnificent man they call Bone Daddy, I would highly recommend it before you read this story. Picking up where Possess Me leaves off, Tempt Me tells the story of Gabriel and Angelique. Gabriel is the son of Madame Toussant, a Voodoo priestess with a big heart. Sadly Gabriel never had the opportunity to learn how loving she is because he was taken away by his father when he was just a small boy. Taught that his mother’s ways were evil and that his sister is possessed by dark magic, Gabriel is not sure how to react when he returns to Louisiana only to be possessed himself by a very dark magic. After almost losing his sister, and aiding in the release of a Loa sex spirit named Bone Daddy, he is now confronted with the knowledge that Voodoo is real and very much a part of his family. Confused to say the least, Gabriel is now dealing with another problem; Emmanuel, a spirit that he knew as a child but is who is now a grown man and following him around causing all sorts of trouble.
Angelique is tired of always being labeled as the “young one”. She is a grown woman with her own mind and right now that mind is set on Gabriel Toussant. After learning about her brother’s possession by the infamous Bone Daddy and now seeing her brother happily married she wants to find that love for herself. Hell, if Bone Daddy himself can find love, why can’t she. This time she is going after what she wants and Gabriel is at the top of that list. Avoiding her mother and her brother, she has done evrything in her power to move on in her adult life. After her brother invites her to a dinner party she just can’t say no to she is finally able to confront the man she has been lusting after, Gabriel. All too soon she is in over her head (and under a tree) ready to accept anything this gorgeous man will give her. Why does she find it impossible to say no to him? How is it that all inhibitions disappear when he is around? And why does she keep seeing a mysterious blue eyed hottie whenever they are together? As the answers are slowly revealed, Gabriel and Angelique are beginning to understand the magic their families possess. But when Angelique finds herself in possession of a locket encasing a mysterious power, darker spirits take hold and threaten to rip apart the very people they are both trying to protect. Can they be strong enough to survive? Can Gabriel finally accept his heritage and repair the family that was torn apart so many years ago?
What a beautiful and erotic story! R.G. Alexander makes me want to go on an adventure and fall into the mystery and romance that can only come from New Orleans. The folk tales, myths, and voodoo legends that surround the rich history of New Orleans are beautifully entwined into a seductive tale of love, sex and magic. While it takes some time to put all of the relationships together (there are three matriarchs and the majority of the key players of the story are their sons and daughters) and keep track of who is related to who, the complexity of the characters from the previous stories is still there. Bone Daddy still has his sexual vibe that is impossible to resist and without spoiling the other books if you have not read them, let’s just say all of the Voodoo mojo is still visible and the mamas are still watching over their families.
Angelique and her college friends are the perfect trio fo gal pals. In true gal pal fashion, they do their best to help Angelique get past her ups and downs and of course torment the man she has her eyes on. Typical to college girls, they are up to no good and when they try to sneak a peek at the infamous bone daddy, things do not go exactly as planned. When they do finally meet the man of the hour, they have their own fangirl moment and find themselves speechless at the man that is sex embodied.
Now on to the fun stuff, the sex in this story is HOT! No scene was frivolous simply for the sake of adding sex and those with a taste for voyeurism will find themselves wanting to get caught in the act after a few of these scenes. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be bent out a hotel window over Bourbon Street while having the onlookers watch. Although I did wish one scene had gone a bit further (a spirit’s wish come true) they were all very erotic and made me wish there were more. After finishing this story I was left smiling and begging for more. Seeing these characters come together again and becoming part of their family is a mystical experience that makes me want to learn more about the true culture that is New Orleans. The language, the love, the steamy fantasies will have you begging someone to call you cher and kiss you in the moonlight. The only question I have left: Dearest R.G. Alexander, please, will I find out what happens to our sweet Emmanuel? I see another book in the midst and hope this is not the last of The Big Easy.
Gabriel Toussaint Giodarno is a mess. When he came home to New Orleans to try and get to know his mother and twin sister, having grown up apart from them since he was a young boy, he certainly didn’t expect to be taken over by an evil spirit who would then use him to try and kill his sister. But that is exactly what happened. Now, confused and scared of what he is or is becoming, he’s staying away from his family in an effort to keep them safe. He’s drinking too much, having meaningless sex, all to try and just “feel” something. Gabriel is worried that he is evil; that he draws darkness to himself and therefore to others and he will not bring that to his family.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what Emmanuel says he must do. Emmanuel is a guardian angel/spirit guide of sorts and he’s been assigned to Gabriel. He doesn’t have all the facts, just that he is to encourage and guide Gabriel back to his family. He wants Gabriel to go home and see his mama, a well respected and powerful Mambo. Emmanuel is sure that once Gabriel goes home and tells his mama what he’s been experiencing that she will be able to help him. But Gabriel is fighting him all the way. Finally, Emmanuel takes matters into his own hands. Even after Emmanuel gets Gabe home, though, he refuses to tell his mother what is going on.
That is, until Gabriel meets Angelique Rousseau. She is beauty and light and she makes him ‘feel’ more than he’s felt in all of his life. Their attraction to each other is instant; but she is young. Worse, she is the baby sister of his friend Celestin who would sooner beat him up as let him get anywhere near Angelique. Angelique is a strong young woman, however, and she has set her sights on Gabriel. She wants him and she won’t let anyone stand in her way.
Gabriel really doesn’t understand what is happening to him. As children, it was clear from the beginning that his sister was special because she could see spirits. Unfortunately, as soon as he showed signs of having a gift as well, his father took him away from everything he’d known and moved to Italy where he was literally beaten until he pushed his gift down deep. So much so that it became non-existent; until he came home and was possessed by the evil spirit of a djab. Even though the djab was banished, Gabriel still only feels darkness and he worried that his gift is exactly that. Dark, evil, everything his sister is not. All he knows is that when he’s with Angelique the darkness that always seems to be around him is replaced with light. Unfortunately, Angelique has drawn something else to her as well and it will take Gabriel and all their friends to figure out what it is-but only Gabriel’s gift can save her.
Tempt Me is the sequel to Possess Me. Though I enjoyed Tempt Me just fine as a standalone, I think I would have loved it even more had I read Possess Me, especially where the character of Emmanuel is concerned. The author does a good job at giving just enough back-story so that you know what happened in the previous book and can appreciate the cast of characters herein. Gabriel and Angelique are beautiful and very sexy together. I love how the author used the metaphor of darkness and light to explore the conflict between this couple and I loved the look we get of the magical world of voodoo and the gifts bestowed onto this group of people. I especially enjoyed the character of Emmanuel who seems to be caught between both worlds. Whether he is a ghost or a spirit is not clear, because he can show himself when he wants to. He is somewhat of a voyeur at times as he is never really very far from Gabriel. What comes through, however, is that he is sad, lonely and he is waiting. And when he completes whatever the powers that be have asked him to do, he will be rewarded and I cannot wait to read that story! I look forward to what Ms. Alexander has in store for us!
I was looking for something fun and sexy when I picked this book, and the mention of a ‘magical wannabe guardian angel’ on the back cover had me intrigued. What? I admit I have a weakness for angel-ish creatures. Don’t judge me. ;) I knew this was an Erotic Romance going into it, but I didn’t expect to be robbed on the relationship and only given sex. Blech. Not my cup of tea.
One of my biggest complaints about this book is that it’s so hard to care about the characters. You barely get to know them at all. I suppose the character investment was set up in the first book of the series, Possess Me, but since I didn’t read that book I needed the author to make me care about them in this one. The only person that had any depth was the hero. The heroine had zero personality beyond being an enthusiastic sex partner—although I suppose that’s all that’s necessary when they spend all their time in the bedroom.
What sucks is that the author had an interesting plot idea. That’s what kept me reading when I realized that the book wasn’t doing it for me. It wasn’t horrible or anything, but it felt juvenile and silly. I’m not a fan of that unless the humor is intentional. The characters felt young and silly, which struck me as ridiculous since most of the guys were supposed to have been ‘bad’ before they were reformed. Maybe I would have been able to get into the story more if the world and its rules had been built up more. There wasn’t any depth to it and if I hadn’t already been familiar with voodoo and some of the particulars of it, then I would have been further frustrated by the way it was cobbled together without any explanation about the particulars of it given to the reader.
I liked the way the author developed Gabriel. The book opened with him in a bar giving off a ‘loser’ vibe. Soon we realize that he’s haunted by past torments and is uncertain of his sanity. He doesn’t feel that he can involve his family in the situation while he figures things out, so he mopes and deals with the darkness inside himself by drinking, fighting, or having sex. When he meets Angelique he can’t help but start to feel for her, despite his issues. What bothered me about him was the way his mood swung like a pendulum. He could turn into a total jerk in the blink of an eye. Angelique was mad about it, but I never felt that he actually ever had to feel bad about the things he said. Apologies and emotional development were always ignored in favor of more sex.
I liked Gabriel’s ghostly tag along (or whatever he was). However, I didn’t like that a threesome between him, Gabriel, and Angelique was thrown in there out of the blue, with no real discussion between the players. I knew he had an unhealthy obsession with Angelique, but I never got the idea that sharing—even temporary sharing—was something that Gabriel would have been okay with. It was just weird and jarring to have it crop up like that for no reason.
So…I don’t think this author’s style is my type. I needed more relationship and character development to care about the events of the book and to have any interest in the sex. The idea had promise but the execution didn’t do anything for me.
After reading Possess Me (Bk. 1) and meeting Bone Daddy, I knew I just had to have more of him; his decadent world of New Orleans, and voodoo. This time 'round we get to know a little more about the other Toussaint twin, Gabriel. Gabriel is a very moody, tormented, and confused man. He has been kept away from his family since childhood--being told that they were evil--but now he is back and not alone. Gabriel has returned home at the request of a nosy bothersome ghost/guardian, Emmanuel (Manny).
Gabe doesn't want to be back, especially when he meets Angelique, his sister's young friend. The pull between them is so intense neither can fight it even if they truly wanted to. Angelique, the baby of the family, is thought to be the sweet innocent one and is always protected; little do they know that Angelique has a wild side to her and she has decided to let Gabriel see just how wild and free she can be by saying yes to one night of "Just Sex" sex (WOW- what a night!).
Manny tries to keep Gabe focused on why he has been brought back to New Orleans and his family. Gabriel has a gift just like his twin sister but, if he doesn't focus and pay attention, it could have dire circumstances for all of them.
I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! RG Alexander has a terrific writing style that grabs you and draws you in from the first few words and won't let you go until the very end - but then you will still want more of Bone Daddy and his friends.
While I love me some Bone Daddy...(I mean how can't you) I think that Tempt Me has really piqued my interest in Emanuel and I sure hope we get more from the Big Easy soon, 'cause it sure isn't easy waiting for it.
If you read R.G. Alexander's first book Possess Me then you absolutely must read Tempt Me. Gabriel was introduced in the first book. He had your typical bad boy image. In Tempt Me we discover more of Gabriel's haunted past. He comes back to New Orleans to reconnect with his mother and sister. However, he has many secrets to hide. Gabriel thinks he is going crazy when an angel appears before him and no one else can see him. Gabe continues a relationship with Manny who tells him he was sent to help Gabriel learn how to use his powers. Angelique has always been the baby in her family. She's always had her family hovering over her to protect her. However, Angelique has a wild side that her family is not aware of. She feels instantly attracted to Gabriel and his bad boy image. She knows her family wouldn't approve of a relationship between her and Gabe. But she cannot resist temptation. Angelique and Gabriel share a night of scorching sex meant to be "just sex", but it brings out emotions in both of them. Gabe is afraid of hurting Angelique, and Angelique is afraid Gabe will never reveal his secrets and trust her enough to accept her love. R.G. Alexander takes us back to New Orleans and the city of voodoo and magic with this story. We get to revisit old friends and of course Bone Daddy makes another appearance in his human form. He's every bit as hot in human form as Loa form. The second book leaves me waiting breathlessly for the next story in this series of voodoo, magic and charm of New Orleans. I hope that Ms. Alexander continues this series for many books to come.
Tempt Me by R. G. Alexander Paranormal Romance–Nov. 1st, 2011 4 stars
Gabriel Toussant’s twin sister can sense/see spirits, so it isn’t strange that Gabriel might have a hidden power, too. But nobody knows what it is and how dangerous it can be. When Gabriel finds himself drawn to the innocent and sexy Angelique Rousseau, he tries to stay away because he didn’t want to hurt her. However, Angelique is very persistent and far too alluring for Gabriel to resist. Can he figure out his gift before it destroys the both of them?
Fascinating world and easy to read writing, Tempt Me is sizzling hot and a great escape from the norm. I like the mystery behind Gabriel’s gift. I couldn’t stop reading because i wanted to find out what it was and what it does! Gabriel’s hidden gift and past makes him a dark character, one that you don’t know whether you can trust. By comparison, Angelique seems rather bland as the beautiful, rebellious girl who wants someone far too dangerous for her. Still, the chemistry between the two of them makes up for any weak spots in the story. The pages are steamin’ HOT whenever the two of them are together.
Even though the subplot about the cursed necklace feels a bit contrived, the whole story still flows so smoothly that you can’t stop reading! Two sexy main characters and a intriguing premise makes this an entertaining read.

The perfect sequel to Possess Me, Tempt Me shares the story of Gabriel and Angelique--Gabriel Giordano is Michelle's twin (from Possess Me) and Angelique is Celestin Rousseau's "baby" sister.
Gabriel's struggling with discovering his spiritual side, after having his father attempt to beat it out of him with the help of a succession of well-intentioned priests and nuns. Angelique's returned home after graduation before deciding what direction she intends to take, never imagining that it would mean returning to New Orleans.
Again, Ms. Alexander creates beautifully well-drawn characters, ones you'd love to spend time with in real life. A lovely, involving bit of mystery using the spiritual elements of voodoo and New Orleans and the Loa and a pervasive darkness... And Gabriel and Angelique's scenes together are beautifully hot.
All in all, a tremendously satisfying read, and I am very much looking forward to more from Ms. Alexander, the sooner the better!
RG Alexander is my critique partner, so I won't claim to be the most objective, but I am totally in love with this hero. This book is dark and moody, which I always love, and the writing is so lush and sensual. This book is a continuation of POSSESS ME, so we get to revisit familiar and much-loved characters. And this author always makes the city of New Orleans, which is almost like another character itself, come alive, reminding me of the scents and sounds and the beautiful architecture of one of my favorite cities in the world. There are some fun and unusual twists in TEMPT ME that had me gasping. So did the sex scenes. *G* A wonderful read that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!
I really enjoyed reading Possess Me and was excited to hear that R. G. Alexander was releasing a sequel. I was immediately drawn into the rich world of voodoo and Loa spirits in New Orleans. I was intrigued by Gabriel in the first book and loved the chance to learn more about him and what makes him tick. This book certainly details all of that! I read a lot of books with erotica in them but there was something about this one that spoke to me. The scenes between Gabriel and Angelique were intense. I would recommend reading this book for sure. I hope to see more of Emmanuel and his story in a future Bone Daddy book.
Gotta love Bone Daddy. The characters that R.G. Alexander has brought out in both the Bone Daddy books are such a great group. New Orleans and voodoo is a great place and plot aspect. Good read.
