Infinity Pools

Rate this book
Sequel to the Amber Allure best-seller Getting Off The Ground...

It started with a snowstorm and ended with a sizzling one-night-stand, but neither man is ready for it to be over.

Jilted groom Elliott Chandler doesn’t do “last minute” or “impulsive,” but at the very last minute, he impulsively changes his flight from Oahu to Maui. What was supposed to be his honeymoon turned into two weeks with a man he just met.

Derek Windsor is all about “last minute” and “impulsive,” but what he doesn’t do is fall in love. He’s a happily promiscuous bachelor and that’s final.

They thought one night together wasn’t enough. Two weeks, however, is going to be more than they bargained for...

L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. Rumor has it her arch nemesis, Lauren Gallagher, is also somewhere in the wilds of New England, which is why L.A. is also spending a portion of her time training a team of spec ops lobsters.

Authors Ann Gallagher and Lori A. Witt have been asked to assist in lobster training, but they "have books to write" and "need to focus on our careers" and "don't you think this rivalry has gotten a little out of hand?" They're probably just helping Lauren raise her army of squirrels trained to ride moose into battle.

3.5--Sex on a Beach--Stars!!

Things pick up where we left off in Getting Off The Ground. Elliot is headed to Maui for two weeks with Derek. They plan to explore each other the area, relax, see where things take them.

Derek knows that Elliot is fresh off a break-up. Elliot is still trying to process everything that happened and how he feels about his ex. Derek doesn't do relationships. Derek knows that what he has with Elliot is just fun right now.

They go out to clubs looking for potential hook-ups but always end up back in bed together. Their feelings continue to develop over the two weeks. Neither one wants what they have to end.

But, alas...all good things must come to an end. Derek and Elliot profess their love for each other--yes, it was insta love--and agree to try to make things work long distance.

This is a fluff read series really. There isn't any angst really. Just a sweet sexy story of two people who weren't looking for love but found it in a unexpected place.

On to the wedding....On The List

REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK; APRIL 27, 2017
Narrator: Charlie David

2.5 stars....because while the sex was hot, there was just too many pages/hours of it. I got antsy waiting to learn more about Derek, never mind Elliott. I did get some family background but everything about the two men was more telling than showing.

This installation, taking place in Maui (Derek's home island), I expected to get to know Derek here - not just how he fucks but his daily life. I wanted his normal routine so that I'd get to know him in his home setting. Unfortunately, all I got was sex and more sex and way too much sex, then some very, very general info about Maui. I love stories set on tropical paradises but not the ones where the author only gives lip service to the locale. Maui sounds absolutely wonderful and a place I'd want to live in but Ms Witt did not do it justice. All I got was some mentions of touristy places off a travel brochure instead of weaving them into the story. And of all the islands, why Molokai? Not that it's devoid of natural beauty but because Elliott only has 2 weeks and Maui alone would take up the entire time so I feel Derek taking Elliott to Kauai would have been the more logical choice.

And the jetlag. It's mentioned a lot. That threw me off every time I was starting to enjoy the book and I finally had to pause my audiobook to find out how long the flight between Seattle and Hawaii was. Five and a half hours. I make enough five and a half hour flights a year to know you don't get jet lag. But maybe the time difference makes a difference? Seattle is three hours ahead of Hawaii. So if Derek were to arrive in Seattle at 3pm Hawaii time, it's 6pm local. Hardly jet-lagged so I don't get why Elliott said “I figured you’d need a day or so to recover from the jet lag.” and Derek saying he has to adjust to the time zone. I get jet lag flying 16/17-hour flights with 12-hour time differences but not 6-hour flights with 3-hour differences. Again, these little niggles don't matter to others but they bug me.

Ah, but at least I now know Elliott is a human resource director...but Derek? I still don't know what kind of business he's in, only that it involves traveling and funds his lifestyle. Could be anything from human-trafficking to property development. That aside, this second installment would have been 4 stars if not for my getting yanked out of the story by the not-very-convincing writing about living in Hawaii.

[3.4] Lots of sexy times and exploration (of each other and the island 😉)

They fall in love with each other in two weeks, and while Derek is not a relationship guy, he gets over any qualms he might have very quickly. A light story with no angst whatsoever but still an enjoyable read for what it was.

Read this book along with its predecessor, Getting Off The Ground. Together they make one really good book. I am a little bugged that it was published in two parts, and that the author and publisher tricked me into paying for it twice. I don't think that's cool, since it's clear that it's not a book and its sequel but just a single novel split into two. But it's very enjoyable so I won't continue to complain about it.

The problem I've been having lately is that a lot of the m/m books I try to read are boring because there's just no chemistry between the characters. No such problem here. Elliott and Derek are smoking together. This is a low angst read about two strangers who decide to spend two weeks together in Hawaii, expecting to never see each other again afterwards. But love has other plans.

Loved these two books and would highly recommend them.

I was so pleased to see this - I was desperate to see how Elliott and Derek coped with their fortnight together after the one night stand that blew their minds!! And boy, was it worth it.

Derek shows Elliott the islands, takes him to gay friendly clubs and basically sets him free to be himself. In the meantime, Elliott is dealing with the end of his relationship with Ben, his guilt about the new relationship with Derek and some majorly unexpected feelings that may turn this two night stand into so much more.

Hot sex, seriously hot sex; witty one liners and an understanding of what makes a story a keeper makesw this yet another success from L A Witt as far as I'm concerned. Definitely lived up to the hype!

Together with Getting Off The Ground the prequel, this made a terrific novel. I liked Infinity Pools a lot more than GOTG and the sex was certainly hot as only L.A. Witt can write it.

Two days earlier they were strangers and here the guys were, staying together in Derek's house in Maui for 2 weeks, a wonderful setting for a romance.

What I most loved about the book were the descriptions of the places visited by Derek and Elliott on Maui and Molokai which didn't appear to be something from a travel brochure of Hawaii. This book made me want to book my flight right away. :)

A very enjoyable book.

Infinity Pools is the second book in the ‘Changing Plans’ series. It’s the continuing story of jilted groom, Elliott Chandler, and sexy businessman, Derek Windsor. As with the first book, this one is written in first person and told from Elliott’s pov.

3.5 rounded up

Enjoyable update to the series. This one has a much more concrete happy ending, and I'm curious to see what the final novella has in store.

Development of feelings did seem little fast for me, but nothing too jarring. I will say, I expected

This is the sequel to Getting Off the Ground (Book #1 Changing Plans). It picks up right where the first one left off. Elliot is on a plane headed to Hawaii to spend two weeks with the rich and sexy playboy Derek. You don’t have to read the first story, but you would be missing out on a wonderfully emotional love scene.

I fell in love with Derek and Elliot in the first book. Witt wrote a sensual, yet tender story about a one night stand between the forever bachelor Derek, and Elliot who was left standing at the alter. Infinity Pools shows Elliot struggling and coming to terms with the ending of one relationship and what could be the beginning of a new and completely different one. Since it is written from Elliot’s POV we only get his internal thoughts as he realizes he is falling in love, but we can tell from Derek’s actions he is also surprised by the intensity of his attraction to Elliot.

Getting off the Ground moved quicker, but it was a much shorter story and focused on their instant sexual attraction. Infinity Pools moves a little slower as the two men get to know each other, but once they do give into their feelings *sigh* things heat up physically and emotionally. Once again, Witt gives a lot of attention to the kissing. I feel this adds a whole different layer of intimacy to the relationship and makes it more realistic.

I love the way Witt writes these characters. It is a happy, sappy love story that will make you feel good when you are done.

This is when Elliott realizes how he feels about Derek:

He gave a quiet, almost shy laugh. "Kind of hard to believe we didn't even know each other two weeks ago."
"Wow, no kidding." Kind of hard? Not even close. I couldn't get my head around it at all. It didn't make sense that we'd ever been strangers, never mind so recently. We were too intimate. Too close. My body reacted too strongly to him, and not just sexually.
Derek kissed me.
Then our eyes met.
And my heart stopped.
Oh, fuck.
I love you.

*swoon*

The third and final book in the Changing Plans series - On The List - will be released on August 21. Stay tuned because there is no way I’m not reading this one *g* and I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you.
We also might have an interview with L.A. Witt and a giveaway here at Rarely Dusty Books for you to look forward to. ;)

I was SO disappointed in the first part of this “series” – “Getting Off the Ground.” It was a super-short story where two people meet while waiting to catch a flight to Hawaii. They instantly hit it off, one character, Elliot, was left at the alter by his fiance the night before and was trying to keep it together and orderly, by making lists. A nearby passenger Derek overhears Elliot’s predicament and decides to start chatting him up. This was a meeting of opposites attract, they had an intense connection, and then it ended 52 pages into the story. I was ANNOYED. It took me awhile to get into the concept and story, which is unusual for me and a Witt story, but I stuck it out and wanted to find out what happened next. As soon as I saw “Infinity Pools” available, I was hoping that it would be better (and longer) than the first one and tell me what happened – and it finally told me what came next! However, these two books such have been published together as one…

The story was a bit basic and very surface level as in none of the bigger issues they were dealing with, were ever really dealt with. The story was a vacation fantasy story with two unlikely men coming together and essentially spending two weeks having sex and falling for each other. Most of the story was carried by the sex which was hot, but got a little boring at times. I found myself drifting and then trying to figure out who was doing who and what was going on. Don’t get me wrong, there was some serious sizzle at times, but about half of the sex scenes could have been taken out of the book and it wouldn’t have been missed.

Out of four…
Overall Read: ♥♥
Sex Heat: ♥♥♥
Plot: ♥♥

This is a great read for someone who is looking for sex, and lots of it. These are two “normal” guys that hook up, and hook up, and hook up – and fall in love through spending time together over two weeks in paradise. It is an easy and engaging read that you don’t want to put down until you get to the end, but it does stay out of some of the areas that would have created deep and interesting characters.

Ho letto il primo libro di questa breve saga, che è composta da tre volumi, giusto la settimana scorsa e mi era piaciuto parecchio; ma devo dire che ho amato questo seguito ancor di più.

After a wild night with Derek following getting stood up at the alter, Elliott decided to go off and spend his two weeks in Hawaii with Derek. This totally threw him out of his comfort zone of research and list making but he wanted to do it anyway. The story is basically just the guys hanging out, having hot sex and getting to know one another. Derek also encourages Elliott to try out being single, but they end up at the end of the night with each other. There is also time for Elliott to think, about his relationship and whether it was as great as he thought and worthy of marriage, and what he wants when he goes back home. Because the story is told from Elliott's first person POV you never really know what Derek is thinking beyond what he says, it worked well. It was nice to see commitment-phobe Derek admit that he felt something for Elliott and the reason why he didn't want to connect to anyone was kind of sad, but in the end, there was a very romantic ending as they decide to bring their long-distance romance to a close. The descriptions of Hawaii were also amazing and I liked the banter between the two men and Derek's friends which was snarky and fun.

Can't give this any more than 5 stars, what a shame because Book 2 was even better than book 1.

This book picks up from the first, with Elliott and Derek landing in Hawaii for Elliott's 'honeymoon' sans his ex, Ben. Derek is going to show Elliott the sights of his home over 2 weeks, and a good time. Maui fits Elliott and Derek as a couple, their relationship really develops here. Elliott turns out to be an excellent match for Derek, they have much in common and also complimented one another in different ways. Everything between them felt right, never forced. As an aside, I now feel like jumping on the next plane(s) to Maui after reading. The island's detail was lovely, like a travelogue amongst the hot sex and a burgeoning relationship.

Great character development, sharp, realistic, witty dialogue, erotic writing, great romance, off the charts kissing (hate it in the movies or TV, love it in books). Nice end, couldn't ask for anything else.

Highly recommended read. Start with book 1, Getting Off The Ground, it's not an absolute must, but they're both so good it's no hardship. L A Witt never fails to impress me and I'm now offically a fan.

Oh Elliot and Derek... I'm so glad I got more of them.

This story picks up when they hit the ground in Hawaii and covers the two week vacation that Elliot has taken from his life and agreed to spend with Derek... the sexy stranger he met in the airport in Getting Off the Ground.

The chemistry between these two is intense and the time they spend together, in and out of bed, was so heartwarming to read about. You can slowly see these boys falling for each other, even though Derek is a self-imposed playboy who would never dream of settling down and doing the relationship thing.

I think the premise of the story makes it believable that these two could fall in love in under two weeks. You can see it happening slowly, see the connections being made, see Derek changing just that much so that it's possible.

I absolutely loved this story and am so excited to read the next installment which will be told in Derek's POV and is about the wedding.

I liked this book much better than the first one. The glimpses we get of the island of Maui are nice if a little generic. I strongly suspect the author has never been there and thus, kept her portrait quite scant. I would have enjoyed more - especially when they go to Molokai which is not something most people do.
The author must have consulted an ancient guide book to Maui since her descriptions of the road to Hana were true 10 years ago. ALL the roads have been paved and there are even painted lines. Though the road is winding, it is all paved now. I like the two leads a lot and will definitely be reading book three.

While I could do with less scenes of them having at it (they're horny, I get it!) but both Elliott and Derek still charm me so much in this sequel. Not to mention that the whole writing about Maui makes me dying to visit Hawaii (also, thanks to the show Hawaii Five-O, I can easily fantasize about it).

The ending is sweet (heck, Derek is a perma-bachelor, so how GREAT it is to see him fall in love with Elliott). Just the right sweetness and adorable moments. The chemistry is still so high between the two of them, so do I believe that they can be in love within two weeks and live happily ever after? HECK YEAH :)

Read as part of my QGB Q3 Challenge picked by Smut Bitch. This title and its prequel are my first read by the author. I quite enjoyed both books. I liked how the list obsessed Elliot cautiously throws caution to the wind and takes a chance on Derek even though he knew it was only "temporary" in the first book. And Derek's transformation from a man leary of love to a man totally in love was fun to watch in this book. These guys were absolutely sexy together even when Derek set it up that Elliot could hook up with someone other than him. Thanks for the entertaining reads.

This book is so good!!!! Derrik and Elliot blew me away, for two guys that just met at the airport, Their chemistry is off the charts. From the beginning neither of them is looking for more than just some time together with no strings attached. Derrik has never had a relationship, and doesn't believe in love. Elliot was left at the alter and just wants to get away from his life for 2 weeks. They both are so perfect for each other, it was fun reading about how they both realize its not so casual anymore. Loved the ending.
