I was cry at the beginning of this volume!!!!! The story of Nuwaru(cat) and Yoshimori’s teacher. I’m not good at reading the scene to impress of animal...
Yoshimori and Tokine tried to get information of antagonist, but there are still in the mystery. I want to know about that early!!!

Kekkaishi, Vol. 7 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (56–65) of the on-going manga series.

Yoshimori Sumimura and Tokine Yukimura have been joined by a new ally named Gen Shishio, who has been sent by the mysterious Shadow Organization. Meanwhile, Yoshimori's big brother, Masamori Sumimura, has been promoted to the Organization's elite Council of Twelve.

Now a secret organization of ayakashi, Kokubōrō, has launched an attack on the Karasumori site. Dressed in "skins" that disguise them as humans and enable them to appear in daylight, five Kokuboro assassins barge into Yoshimori's school in the middle of the afternoon to challenge the guardians of Karasumori site.

The three teenagers accept, and decide to take them on alone that very night, but when Yoshimori and Tokine refuse to hand over the Karasumori site to the ayakashi "negotiators," the Kokubōrō wound Gen and threaten to finish him off if they don't get in their way.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Yellow Tanabe. The tankōbon introduces the mysterious team that wants the Kokuboro site for themselves – the Kokubōrō. It is a group of ayakashi who seek Karasumori's power in order to regenerate their leader – Princess. The mysterious Shadow Organization is further expanded, showing the leading council that leads the team as Masamori Sumimura is promoted to become the elite Council of Twelve.

All in all, Kekkaishi, Vol. 7 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

This is a transition volume. Much of it is full of cute, light, but unimportant scenes. Then you have build-up of enemies that we'll soon meet. And finally, a big battle scene ending on a cliff hanger.

I loved the light interludes. One of Yoshimori's teacher is haunted by a ghost cat. Yoshimori can see the cat pawing and batting at the teacher all day long. The teacher is clueless. Yoshimori has to figure out how to put the cat's spirit to rest without telling the teacher that he's haunted.

Another interlude is a scene with a demon who overtakes an incredibly handsome boy. He essentially takes Tokine hostage to appeal to her inner womanly desires and sweet spirit to learn more about the Karasumori's secrets. This sounds very serious but it ends up being funny (to me, at least). Tokine is a much different girl than the demon expects.

Finally, we meet a new cast of demons. They are coated with updated human skins that will shield them and allow them to mask their demonic natures. They have the potential to seriously threaten the Karasumori.

And threaten they do. They show up and outmatch Yoshimori, Tokine, and Gen. It's all the three of them can do to stay alive. Can they beat these new demons? We'll have to read volume 8 to find out!

As Gen and Yoshimori continue bickering about who’s the better kekkaishi, dark shadows begin to move underfoot. The ayakashi, organized under the Kokuboro, are setting their plans to take over the Karasumori site in action. Besides that Yoshimori and Tokine relationship are beginning to grow and show more. This is amusing to me because neither one is quite sure how the other feels for one another. Yoshimori is utterly devastated when Tokine bluntly tells him to get lost. Poor Yoshimori! It’s hell to like a girl as rude as Tokine. Tokine, on the other hand, is perplexed when she’s asked what Yoshimori means to her. I enjoy there confusion relationship, especially the rivalry between the two familes that complicates matters even more. As the story progresses Yoshimori, Gen, and Tokine are facing a load of trouble. A group of ayakashi, all wearing human skin, have invaded the school and politely, for a bunch of demons, requested their presence at 3 am for a meeting at the Karasumori site. Suspicious indeed, I wonder what will the three do.

In this volume, Tokine learns about the secret organization called the Kokuboro, a group of ayakashi working together to use the power of the Karasumori site against the kekkaishi. Masamori is elected to the Shadow Organization's Council of Twelve, the executive committee who governs the organization, and is made entirely of monsters. Masamori seems to have joined them to watch over them and make sure they don't get their hands on the Karasumori site. Meanwhile, the Kokuboro have upgraded their human skin disguises and try it out on a whole new group of ayakashi (assassins for the Kokuboro), led and monitored by the original ayakashi in human skin (Kaguro). They demand that that Kekkaishi hand over the site and then gravely wound Gen, before surrounding them with a barrier that doesn't allow them to use their magic. Will they be able to escape?

Tanabe is doing a great job of deepen the mystery in tasty morsels. Masamori's appoitment to the Shadow Organization's executive committee was especially delicious. Character development for Yoshimori, Tokine and Gen is great, too. Favorite illustration: Tokine clobbering a brain ayakashi smack in the face with a kekkai.

The plot thickens, and the bad guys are making their moves. Are the good guys on Yoshimori's side..? Loved the little story about the teacher and the black cat.

In other news: I'm 1/5th of the way through this series, the farthest I've ever READ. (I've skimmed all of the books, as I bought them.) While in not getting 100% of what I read, I'm grasping the story and feeling proud.

I love Tokine's description of herself as the least compassionate kekkaishi. Yay for subverting gender stereotypes, even if only for a moment.

結界師のキャラのモチベーションが分かるし敵も味方区別できるし。うん。楽。
