One million people are trafficked into the sex industry each year. In this timely and provocative study, Kathryn Farr documents the macro and micro impact of trafficking women and children into this industry on a global scale. Farr looks not only at the victims themselves, but also at the sex trade's main players, organized crime structure, economic conditions, and role in which various militaries perpetuate its demand. Sex Trafficking can be incorporated into a variety of courses in sociology, social problems, culture and sexuality, history, and women's studies.
Full of facts and great information. Dated but a must read for those who want to get involved in fighting against the multi-billion sex trafficking industry in a serious manner.
Farr opened up my eyes even more to the extensive problem of sex trafficking that exists in our society. This topic has always enraged me and I have even thought about obtaining a career combating this epidemic. Farr was able to provide even more information, such as the militarized prostitution camps and stations. However, like most books or documentaries, Farr focuses solely on the problem, but not an actual integrated and comprehensive detailed solution.
