This book is a great book for someone who is interested in becoming a postpartum doula, or for anyone who is planning on supporting a postpartum mother.

A great summary of what the responsibilites of a doula does. Practical and handy. I will be refering to it often! Postpartum Doulas who are just starting their journey, highly recommend!

“The doula is a generalist, not a specialist” and so is this book. Very introductory, a reference starting point. Overall I was disappointed with the topics it mentioned but barely covered or answered with “this is up to you” or other hands-off kind of answers like: “this should be covered in your doula training” instead of giving more concrete information. Will be helpful as a launching pad to other resources as I think it was mainly intended to be. I also noticed at least three grammatical errors. Feels like a quick mock-up for DONA to distribute rather than a genuinely motivated guide to enable PP doula education.

This book contains so many tips for starting out as a postpartum doula. It covers things that are obvious and practical but often overlooked. It's definitely focused more for those who are trying to make a full time business out of this job.
I did appreciate it and loved that out stayed with a brief word on self care.

A short and concise book on postpartum doula work and her role she plays in supporting families. This was one of the books that I chose to read in my required readings for my certification process. It had several pages of information in the appendix section of books, websites and resources for the new doula and parents along with a section of example scenarios that a postpartum doula may encounter.

Fast read. Good top-level overview for someone considering being a postpartum doula, looking to support someone after birth, or someone in training to be a postpartum doula. Gives a sense of some of the skills one needs to study in more depth elsewhere. Includes good reference list for future reading.

Great book bullet pointing what a postpartum doula is and does, how to look for resources to get started, and ideas on how to process on how one plans to present themselves in the world of birth work.

Very generalized, but a pretty good overview of what being a postpartum doula entails.
