A good overview of the Gilded Age in America, covering politics, labor, and settling the frontier. A nice overview for folks new to the post-Reconstruction Era in the U.S., and a fine supplementary text for those already familiar. Chapters are organized based around themes (e.g. The Rise of Industrial America, The Agrarian Revolt, American Culture in the Gilded Age, etc.) and are mostly chronological. De Santis weaves an interesting narrative revolving around these themes often using lesser known (or used) secondary and primary sources.
