My sewing skills are basic, very basic, so I like to find projects that are easy and don't require advanced sewing skills. I like the concept that is gaining popularity again, with the new name 'repurposing'...sounds so much better than hand me downs, or used or seconds or passed down or some of those words used to describe the concept in past times.

Vintage is another word that harkens one to nostalgia. I like the idea of less waste and more use it, re-use it, use it up, wear it out - which is what describes the concept in the Depression-era. Revitalizing the old arts with new words does seem to give the concept a new vitality!

I picked up this book based on the name, Sew Vintage because I love vintage items especially the soft lacy cotton items. However, this book had no appeal to me because of the materials and fabrics used through out the book. I really could not even focus on the patterns due to the fabrics. I also felt like the patterns were dated looking but I do think someone can use this book to repurpose fabrics which is awesome.

This was a great book. It had a lot of really neat ideas for using different vintage textiles to make new clothes and other items as well. A lot of the projects look pretty easy so it is great for the beginner.
