Although he never learned to read music beyond a rudimentary level, with the help of various uncredited musical assistants or collaborators, he eventually composed over 3,000 songs, many of which (e.g. "God Bless America", "White Christmas", "Anything You Can Do", "There's No Business Like Show Business") left an indelible mark on American music and culture. He composed seventeen film scores and twenty-one Broadway scores.

First of all, the main reason I read this book is because I adore the work of Bernadette Peters, who played Annie in the broadway revival and I had been listening to the incredible soundtrack of the show. Now, I know that the movie and possibly the original broadway production had issues with racism, but I love the revival so much because they removed the problem areas. The story follows a young Annie Oakley, an amazing female sharpshooter, and her rocky love story with famous male sharpshooter Frank Butler. The text and songs are very good, and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

I love this play SO MUCH, especially Can't Get a Man With a Gun, My Defenses are Down, and Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better. You wouldn't believe how often these lines are recited in our house:
"Frank?"
"You comin' with us?"
"We'll paint the town red, Frank."
"Sorry, folks, I can't make it! I'm getting engaged tonight."

Overall good story. Anything you can do, I can do better shows the power of some. And how they should not be discounted.

This is one of those cast recording that I will gladly listen to start to finish. Great show.

An excellent musical. I highly recommend you go see it, and I'm not really a musical person. In fact, I hate them usually. I actually liked this one though.

January 28, 2015Please fix this listing. It is for the musical Annie Get Your Gun, but the picture is one of a hymnal. Thanks!

Looks like I am not really a fan of this work, even though it is lauded throughout the entertainment field. It is just too annoying for my taste.
