Wyncote Wolves #8

Off-Ice Collision

Rate this book
Vaughn One moment in time, one freak accident, and my entire hockey career was over. Two years had passed since my injury and I am still mentally struggling with this loss. Mad at the world and everyone in it, I sought solace at my parents' lake house for the summer. It was supposed to be somewhere for me to be alone and heal. But when London Hayes walks back into my life, the universe has different plans. And I need to find a way to derail them because I refuse to drag her down with me. London It had been over two years since I'd last seen Vaughn Carter. And he feels like a stranger. Cold and distant, abrasive and angry. He’s a shell of a person compared to the version I used to know, but I know he’s still in there. Somewhere deep inside is the boy I used to love, but he needs help finding himself again. And I won’t be the one to give up on him, even if it costs me my own heart in the end.

A career-ending injury two years earlier has left Vaughn Carter spiraling. When he arrives in Stillwater Lake to spend the summer running his family’s store, he’s prepared to continue simply going through the motions.

Longtime lake neighbor, London Hayes, is there for the summer as well. When she learns just how low her crush has fallen, she takes matters into her own hands. Primed to challenge him at every turn and see him out of his funk, London is just what Vaughn never knew he needed.

I am so sad to see the Wyncote Wolves series come to a close. Every book has been filled with strong, lovable characters and perfectly steamy plots. Off-Ice was no exception with a take-no-shït heroine and a slightly damaged hero just waiting for his HEA!

***4 "My anchor!!!" stars***

"I'm broken beyond repair, baby."

There wasn't a better way for this series to finish, even though it makes me a little bit sad that I won't read about these characters again!!!
The last book was emotional and very sweet!!! It was set into a different environment and I liked the change of scenery, since this said scenery was around a beautiful lake!!!
Vaughn was heartbreaking and London was a girl who knew what she wanted and never gave up on the people she loved!!!
This was a second chance summer love story with a very grumpy and bitter boy and a girl full of sunshine!!!

"Do your worst to me, Vaughn Carter."

It's been two years since the accident that ruined Vaughn Carter's promicing career and his leg... and he still can't let go of what he had lost... He is living isolated and bitter, but it is time to stop the pity party...
So, he is sent to the family's lake house for the summer to work, in hope he will forget...
The last thing he wants is for London Hayes to come back into his life and make him wish for things that he can never have...

"London Hayes needs to learn to stay as far away from me as possible. Because I will only destroy her in the end."

London and her family had spent every summer of her life in the lake house... She needs the peace that this lake is giving her and she needs to keep an eye to her reckless twin brother and to save him from catastrophe...
And then, Vaughn Carter is coming back into the house next door and too many memories is coming back with him... But Carter is a different boy, but that's not going to scare London away...

"He really believes he's broken beyond repair. And I'm here to show him he's wrong."

I liked this story very much!!! London and Vaughn were so perfect together...
But Vaughn is in a dark place and he can pull London under the water with him...
He just needs to stay away from her, but London needs to save him, no matter what, even though in the end, she can ended up to pieces!!!
This was a very beautiful book with wonderful and perplexed characters, a beautiful atmosphere and a smell of hockey in the air!!!
I also loved that in this book, Cali gave us something more than the previous books!!!

"You belong in the light, not the darkness."
"I'm not afraid of it... I will follow you into the dark."

I just wish I had taken a bigger glimpse of old characters in here, since you know, it was the last book in the series!!!
But I am really curious about Maverick.... It would be lovely to get his story at some point. Don't you agree???
Cali Melle had gifted us with so many beautiful stories with this series and I can not wait to see what more she has in store for us!!!

"We all have scars, Vaughn... They become a part of us and mix with the beauty. There's nothing ugly about them at all."

I have mixed feelings after finishing Off-Ice Collision: it's a bit sad to know that this series has come to an end, and that for the moment I won't be reading these characters, but I also think that Wyncote Wolves couldn't have a better finish! Not only wasVaughn & London's story a painfully beautiful one, full of feelings and with a plot that I loved, but in this book Cali Melle gave me much more than in her previous books: she go much deeper into the family life of her characters, their dreams, aspirations, the situations they go through and the relationships they have with those around them, something that was really good for understanding Vaughn & London better and which I hope she continues to do in her next series, because it made me enjoy her writing so much more and put this book on my favorites list.

London was a much deeper character than meets the eye: a kind girl, with a good heart and who loves her family, but with a savior complex that puts her in complex situations throughout the book. She has a pretty cute relationship with her twin brother, Maverick, and it broke my heart to read her feeling betrayed by him, and still trying over and over again to protect him and to save him from his problems.

And Vaughn, oh my! I feel like I waited so long to read him. He's a broken boy, he had his whole life planned out and his dreams were in the NHL, however an injury destroyed his chance and he has spent the last two years being grumpy, angry at the world and keeping everyone in his life away. I think it goes without saying that reading Vaughn's journey broke my heart, but I really liked reading him fighting too, even when he was at his worst, I loved that in the lake he found everything he was never looking for and that it gave a complete turn in his life.

Something else I LOVED about this book was the past story that Vaughn & London shared, how they drifted apart and meet again after several years, and although Vaughn is mad at the world and trying to keep London away from him, I loved that she found a way to sneak into his life once again, give him all the support & understanding he needed, and still knew how to set limits to protect herself. And best of all, Vaugn has a very sweet and tender side that she allows herself to show only when he's with London and it made me love him even more than I
already did.

4.5 stars.

This is the last book in the Wyncote Wolves series. It was heartbreaking and full of emotion. While it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

Vaughn Carter. The man is broken and he is in a dark place. After a devastating career-ending injury in college, Vaughn was unable to move on to the NHL. Now, he’s angry. He’s bitter. He lives in a never-ending place of darkness, unable to see any light. He’s alive but not really living. It’s been two years since his injury, and he’s still as jaded as ever. Vaughn’s parents are worried, but they also know he needs to get up and move on. So, they send him to their vacation home on the lake to work and run the shop.

London Hayes is his next-door neighbor. She is sweet and caring, and she always wants to help people, fix problems. She and her twin brother, Maverick, had been friends with Vaughn as children. So, when she runs into Vaughn again, she sees his damage and wants to heal him.

Their story is full of emotion. A broken man and a girl with a hero complex. They have feelings for each other, but it’s hard for Vaughn to let his feelings out. London is understanding and patient with him, and she slowly brings the light back into his life. But, of course, unexpected situations arise, and London realizes she can’t fix Vaughn; he needs to heal himself.

Vaughn may have been struggling, but the man was sweet and swoony at times. He was a dirty talker too, and whew. Anyway, I loved seeing Vaughn’s healing journey. It wasn’t a simple fix, and it wasn’t just a straight line to being “healed”. It was truly a journey. This was a beautiful and bittersweet ending to the series. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Note: The male main character is dealing with depression, so be aware of that if it is triggering for you.

This book is the perfect ending to the WYNCOTE Wolves series! These guys live and breathe hockey and it has been so fun to read about their different stories.

Vaughn was definitely one of those guys who lived and breathed hockey. But his dream of the NHL was taken away from him so quickly in the worst way possible and he didn’t know how to move past that loss. He had shut everyone out, family and friends, because he felt his future was over.

London was living her life to the fullest. She was ready for a summer at the lake to relax and unwind before the next semester of school started. What she wasn’t expecting was to see Vaughn Carter back at his parents house. He hadn’t been seen or heard from since his career ending accident on the ice.

When their worlds collide on that tiny island they are both thrown by the underlying chemistry still there between them. They were always such close friends when they were younger but college and life made them drift apart.

London sees the hurt and pain that Vaughn is struggling with. She wants to be there for him and help him see there is more to his life than the future he thinks is over. Through stolen moments on the boat and by the lake, they rekindle something that had been building for a long time. But Vaughn is still holding back and London refuses to sit by and watch him self destruct!

This story was so powerful!! London helps Vaughn see his potential for a future beyond playing hockey but it takes a toll on both of them. They are committed to one another and their love is strong, but they have to work through the pain from the past in order to be able to more on with their future together!

Off-Ice Collision is book 8 in the Wyncote wolves series and the last book in this amazing series m. Cali Melle saved the best for last.

Do you want to know one thing I hate about the last book of the series is…..it’s the last book! I’m really sad about this series ending but so happy we were able to experience the phenomenal series this is.

Off- Ice Collision is apart of a hockey sports romance but it has sweet summertime vibes. Perfect story for the summer and it made me want to go buy a house on the lake.

Vaughn Carter literally sees his life dream come crashing down in a instant. He suffers a huge blow and is stuck living in the past. He’s down on himself and has become this broody unhappy guy. Then his childhood friend walks in and changes his life. London Hayes!!!!! She is one of the best FMC of Cali’s. She’s sweet….smart….sassy and breath of fresh air for Vaughn.

I was completely stuck on this book. I have absolutely loved each book in this series but something about this story pulled at my heart strings. Not only was I obsessed with the cover but the whole story was beautiful even with the hard times.

Wyncote Wolves is a highly recommended 5 star series. If you’re a sports romance lover or looking for something new this is a series to start. Each book is totally different and focuses on a different couple.

Happy Reading!!!!!

What a sad but wonderful end to the Wyncote Wolves series. Vaughn and London’s story was the best for last. There’s more emotion built into these character and the depth of the story made me feel.

Vaughn struggles with a career ending injury and never being able to play hockey again. He goes to his family’s lake house for the summer and sees a childhood summer friend , London. They always had crushes on each other so seeing him hurting is natural for her to want to help heal him. She has no fears knowing she can end up in total heart break.

London tells Vaughn - “Do your worst to me.” And it broke me instantly knowing they were going to have this epic summer romance with some angst.

I’m so sad this series is over but loved every second of the journey. Plus the covers are just gorgeous and musts on my shelf!

Vaughn and London's book..I loved so much. It was packed with so many emotions. My heart felt for Vaughn and the dark place he was stuck in after his fatal accident on the ice, ending his hockey career. He goes to his parent's lake house for a change of scenery after being "stuck" for two years. London and Vaughn reconnect as they used to be friends and let me just say that their love story is worth it. So touching and beautiful. I really loved their book!

I've been wanting read this author for a while now, I finally took the chance with Off-ice collision and it was well worth it. I loved Vaughn and London. Vaughn was full of self hate and London was like ray of sunshine. They are complete opposites. But there story and there past are great. I'm really excited to read the rest of this series. Well officially starting my series ending depression. I absolutely loved Off Ice Collision but am so sad to see the end of the Wyncote series.

Vaughn Carter was introduced in a previous Wyncote Wolves book as a freshman who had a hockey ending knee injury. This story picks up 2 years post injury with Vaughn barely living, just going through the motions every day very focused on his past. So he goes to spend his summer at his family’s summer lake house. London Hayes is an old family friend and has the neighboring lake house. The two reconnect and it turns out London is everything he has ever wanted and helping him see that there is more in life than just existing.

Cali Melle has announced that her next series will be a bit more angsty and emotional and I feel like this was a great preview of what is to come. This was more of an emotional ride than the previous books and the glimpse into the next books character was perfect. I cannot wait for the Orchid City Series next!

Thank you @authorcalimelle for the ARC!

I liked Vaughn, but London annoyed me sometimes. I lost interest around the 70% mark because of relationship drama and London jumping to conclusions.

Vaughn gets driven home, London sees a girl and automatically assumes the worst. Even when she realizes Vaughn has no reason to lie, she still keeps the assumption that he slept w the girl??

“Nothing happened with her, London. She dropped me off this morning while her fucking boyfriend was making her breakfast.”
“And I’m supposed to just believe you?”
Vaughn’s chest lifts as he inhales deeply and rakes his teeth over his bottom lip. “Why the fuck would I lie to you?”
I fall silent for a moment as my mind bounces back and forth like a goddamn ping-pong ball. He could very well be telling the truth, and he’s right—he has no reason to lie to me. But that doesn’t change anything else. He pushed me away and went out and got drunk then got dropped off by another girl this morning. Regardless of what happened, it doesn’t look good.”

It was after this moment that I started to not like London, then add another moment later in the book when she was being too stubborn.

London’s twin brother, Maverick, was a hypocritical jerk and I didn’t like him sometimes, but I think that was the point. He was genuinely praying for London and Vaughn’s downfall as a couple and it was very unnecessary with the way he went about it. His secret college story was interesting, but then I was confused with the ending when someone involved in that showed up again.

This definitely feels like the most “stand alone” book in the series because there’s a super brief cameo from two other couples, otherwise it’s mainly just Vaughn and his summer with London. It didn’t stand out to me, but I’m still glad I read it.

The small town romance Off-Ice Collision by Cali Melle centers on Vaughn Carter and London Hayes.

The fact that Vaughn and Carter were both trying to fix each others hearts that wasn’t theirs to fix was so wholesome.

Also, I loved how Vaughn kept to himself around everyone but London since he always found a way to share something with her that no one else knew. And it was really sweet how London treated Vaughn with such patience and understanding. Their romance was amazing.

In all, Cali did a fantastic job of wrapping up the Wyncote Wolves series, and I can't wait to see what more she has in store!

Vaughn Carter is a broken man. After a devastating hockey injury in the previous books, Vaughn is still readjusting to life at home two years later. He’s every bit the broody mess you can imagine when you think about someone who had their dream snatched away in the blink of an eye. Despite how much time that has passed since the life changing incident, the pain is still there. Both mental and physical. It’s hard for him to move on, when hockey was his everything. If he can’t play, what’s the point? Finally when his mom can’t stand to see him waste his life away anymore, he gets sent to his family’s summer home to help run the business they own.

London feels like she’s daydreaming when she see’s Vaughn’s shadowy figure standing next door. Her twin quickly brings her up to speed and tells her that their childhood friend is back for the season. She tries to pick up where they left off, but it’s been years since they’ve crossed paths and this new Vaughn is nothing like the boy she used to know. This Vaughn is all hard edges and filled with so much anger, yet something in him calls to her.

There’s so many reasons they should stay away from each other, the biggest one being Vaughn’s inability to accept his current circumstances. He’s stuck back on the ice and can’t see a way forward, but London wants nothing more than to show him the light.

“I want to fix you.”
—“I’m broken beyond repair, baby.”

Our heroine is a lover of broken things. London is a sweet cherub with horrible decision making skills who can do no wrong. Even when she was making frustratingly dumb choices, I still loved her. She’s has such a kindness to her, but I appreciated that she didn’t mince words when it came to dealing with Vaughn. She’s the perfect type of character that makes our hero finally want something more than where he’s at in life.

This is a beautiful story about healing. Vaughn has been through plenty of surgeries for his knee injury, which may have healed his physical injuries, but left his heart and spirit cracked open. He spends so much time feeling sorry for himself, which was painful to read. Especially when it impacts his relationship with London. There are times when Vaughn seems very childish in the way that he runs from his problems, but it was so rewarding watching him claw his way up from rock bottom. It’s one thing for someone to want to fix you, but another altogether to want to fix yourself.

You have to read this book! It’s a bit of a heavier read in comparison to the playfulness of the other books, but it still had so much sweetness mixed in between. There’s barely any hockey, but there’s plenty of angst, tension, chemistry, and spice. It was such a lovely end to the series and I felt like it left the series open to a few different spin offs. There were lots of interesting side characters that will hopefully make an appearance in other books.

If you like:
Struggling hero
Mental health representation
Healing from injury
Childhood friends
Supportive families
Finding a new path in life
….You should have to read this!

Thank you to Literally Yours PR for the copy of this ARC! I’m sad for this series to be over but I cannot wait for what comes next.

Vaughn is a broken man, in spirit and in body. He's been shutting himself off for so long since his accident that his parents have to get him out of the house, so send him to the lakehouse for the summer. The idea is to work at their family store there, and start socializing again, being among others again. He didn't expect his childhood friend, London, to be there. He didn't expect her to want to heal him, to be the one he finally starts to open up to. But all his growth could be for naught if once glimpse of his past sends him back down into that darkness again, so far that London might not be able to reach him.

Vaughn and London's story is beautiful, full of emotions that span the spectrum from happiness and joy and love far down to depression and dark thoughts and pain. The way Vaughn finally heals is sad for sure at times, but the journey is worth any pain because London is there with her huge, compassionate heart reaching out for Vaughn. I think this is the perfect way to end this excellent hockey series.

This is such a bittersweet moment with it being the last book of the series. Vaughn and London just had my heart locked in their hands throughout reading this and I am completely fine with that. Some of the more “darker” themes on the emotional side had me connecting with Vaughn on a whole other level. The highs and lows of life are never easy to go through, but having people who never give up on you and help you grow are rare to find. I understood London’s need to help people who don’t want to help themselves. Not wanting to see them suffer but not knowing how to help is sometimes unbearable. But they have to want the help for any change to happen. Just a beautiful story of finding yourself again after a tragic accident, exploring different paths, and reconnecting with the people who love and are there for you.

“You don’t owe anyone anything, London,” he tells me, his voice barely audible. His expression is unreadable and my stomach does a somersault as I stare at him. “Stop apologizing for shit you don’t need to be sorry for and stop wasting your words on people who don’t deserve them.”

“You’re getting lost in your thoughts instead of letting them go.” “Easier said than done,” Vaughn replies gruffly, his voice hoarse. “Where did you go?” He silently stares at me for a moment before he shakes his head. “It doesn’t matter. None of it matters.” “I refuse to believe that,” I argue. “Everything matters, even the stuff that hurts us the most.”

“Vaughn needs someone and all he’s doing is showing his fangs to send everyone running in the opposite direction. My brain and my heart are at war with one another right now. The logical part of me knows that I should listen to my instincts and stay as far away from him as possible. My heart protests.”

“You belong in the light, not the darkness.” “I’m not afraid of it,” she breathes, her breath fanning across my face. “I’ll follow you into the dark.”

“I’m not asking for you to love me, Vaughn.” “Then what are you asking for?” Emotion wells in her eyes. “For you to let me help you find yourself.” “Even if it hurts in the end?” “Even if it hurts in the end,” she repeats as a smile pulls on the corners of her lips. “Do your worst to me, Vaughn Carter.”

“There’s something about her that brings me a sense of peace, like nothing in the world truly matters. It doesn’t wash away the anger or the pain I feel, but she gives me hope. Hope that maybe this isn’t the end of life for me.”

“Let me be your compass,” I whisper against his lips. “Let me be your anchor.” “I don’t know how,” he says, the hopelessness laced throughout his words. “I’ve iced everyone out for the past two years.” “It’s never too late to change your course.”

“The way I feel for you… I’ve never felt it with anyone else.” I pause for a moment, swallowing roughly over the emotions in my throat. “I love you, London. I have since we were kids. I just refused to let myself feel any of it.”

I have to say it’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that this is the final book in the series. But after reading it, Cali gave us the perfect ending.

Vaughn and London’s story is so full of emotion, pain and a story line that i absolutely adored. One thing that really stood out to me about their story was how in-depth Cali actually got with the family life dynamics, their dreams/aspirations and difficult situations each of the characters experienced. It was also heartbreaking to see how relationships changed throughout the story and how somehow they made it back to each other. She gave us a better understanding of what and who shaped Vaughn and London.

London is such a beautiful soul, where she loves deeply but also wants to be there to help everyone no matter what situation it may put her in. She is a lot more complex than what you originally think she is when you first start reading the book.

Vaughn, oh my, my sweet broken boy. He has literally planned out every moment of his life and it all got turned upside down with one game. I absolutely didn’t blame him for being angry at the world and not wanting to deal with anyone, but then at the same time as much as my heart was hurting for him, i hated the way he became so bitter and pushed people away. But i will say, i loved that Cali, wrote about how he acknowledged what he was doing with his relationships. And then when he went to work at the lake for his dad, it was definitely rocky at first, but you really started to see who Vaughn was underneath all that hurt and pain. It just made me fall more in love with him.

I really liked their storyline the most, because it was like they always had a special place in their hearts for each other but never acted on it and now they have made their way back to each other. It definitely isn’t a sunshine and rainbow type of story but that’s what makes it so real and relatable. Cali really brought out our emotions in this book but also gave us (women) an important reminder, which was that it’s okay to be there for people who are in a dark place whether they are friends or family, BUT, have boundaries in place that will help protect you and help remind you of your worth.

You will fall in love with Vaughn and London and will also have a bittersweet goodbye to all the wonderful characters that Cali brought into our lives. 💕

I really liked how Cali has captured Vaughan's darkness in the beginning of this story. I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to have your whole life ahead of you, solely focused on that one path in life, then to have it ripped away just like that.

You feel for Vaughan and what he is going through. He's not in a good place and he's feeling sorry for himself. He's bitter about what happened and in a sense he's living in the past, dwelling on it. His parents have tried really hard for the last 2 years but even they're at the end of their rope with him. Is it time for some tough love? I think there is a thin line between allowing a person to continue on a downward trajectory and giving them some hard truths and tough love in order to pull them out? How long is too long? How far is too far to push before you lose them completely?

London sees in Vaughan what she sees in her brother. Someone damaged who is pushing people away and eventually they will get lost to the darkness. She's a protector and a nurturer and she knows he's not the person he once was. But she wants to help anyway.

I also feel like there's this impending doom hanging over brothers head and something terrible is going to happen that she will need help with. Really strong start to this story. World building is good and you get a really good sense of all characters dynamics.

Vaughan is coming out of the darkness more with London, but when he runs into his old team mates it dredges up all of those painful memories and then he shuts down again. Wallowing in that pit of darkness. London doesn't know what to do. And it is hard to know what to do when you care about someone like this. They have to want to help themselves before you're able to help them. I think this books highlights what that struggle is like. You feel helpless.

Vaughan realises that if he doesn't make changes now, he's going to lose the best thing to ever happen to him. I enjoyed watching him realise what he needed to do and working through his issues, realising that while he might not be able to play, he can still be involved, that it is not the end of his life. He is so young to be feeling the way he is

Really good conclusion! Well done! I'm really intrigued by Mav though! I hope we get a story about him!

This was an absolute beautiful hockey romance! I've been in such a book slump lately and nothing is really holding and/or keeping my attention, but from the start Vaughn and London just had me so entranced!

After suffering a career ending injuring a few years earlier, Vaughn is still very much in a dark place -- he's pushed away almost everyone in his life, and is so angry with the way things turned out for him (and how things didn't turn out for the one who hurt him) his parents don't know what to do for him anymore, he doesn't know what to do for himself anymore, and it seems like without hockey, a vital piece of himself is missing.. and he's doing nothing but sitting in that misery and anger. So when his mother suggests working in the town where their summer home is (rich people, 🤣🤣) she's hoping that interacting with other people will help him pull out of this darkness he's secluded himself into, and it does, in the form of his childhoods best friends sister.

London was such an amazing heroine, and I loved how she wanted to help Vaughn in all the ways he couldn't help himself. She was so selfless and didn't care if he crushed her heart in the process, she was just so focused on helping him love his life again, but he also helped her as well. And the relationship they forged within that was just so beautiful. Thay were each others person through and through and I just loved every moment of these two!

I also really enjoyed seeing the representation of mental health and the real struggles to pull yourself out of a dark bit of depression. I also loved seeing the balance of London, and how even though she wanted to help him with everything in her, she still had clear boundaries with him. It was just a beautiful reminder not to give up on those that need us the most, but not at the expense of our own mental health.

Honestly this was the perfect finale to this amazing series! I'm definitely going to miss all these amazing couples and this world that Calli created, but i can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Vaughn and London broke my heart and put it back together. Their story is so beautiful yet so heartbreaking at times. Vaughn's back story wrecked me. My boy didn't deserve the traumatic experience he had and his future stolen from him. Watching him become a total different person than the one I knew from previous books was so hard. His whole life was changed forever and to see him lose himself was something expected. London was such a positive addition to his life, the person that he needed in order to see that his life isn't over and he deserves to find his happiness again. The summer romance was also a nice change in the series. I loved the feeling it gave me and gave to the story. Their moments evolved each time they saw eachother and I was there for it. Seeing Vaughn slowly find himself and trying to build his life after his life changing injury was such a special moment to me. I was so proud of him. His behavior changed for the better when London was around. She truly was his sunshine and I loved that. London was a woman that loved with so much passion and only wanted the best for him. She was by his side and didn't give up on him. She wanted him to find a purpose in his life again. Their intimate moments were so hot and I loved seeing the possessive side of Vaughn. He was all about London and her pleasure. They had so many great and adorable moments and these made the book even better. The epilogue was the perfect end for these two and I'm happy I saw Vaughn genuinely happy and in love with London. Saying goodbye to the Wyncote Wolves is so bittersweet but I know all my boys are happy and thriving and I couldn't be happier for them.

Vaughn and London are our last couple in the Wyncore world and I am so sad to see this series ending! But Cali Melle went out with a bang with these two.

Two years ago Vaughn was in a career ending collision on the ice and has a permanent injury to his knee. Up until that point in his life, hockey was everything and the only thing to him. Now here we are in the present and Vaughn dropped out of college, stopped talking to all of his friends, and has become a shell of himself. His parents said enough is enough and sent him to their vacation home to work at the shop his family owns and try to get his life jump started again.

What he doesn’t expect is for his next door neighbor to be there and be as beautiful as ever. London is the girl he grew up with and the girl he has always had a secret thing for. But with the way he’s feeling mentally and how he is acting towards everyone in his life, the last thing he needs is for someone to come and fix his life.

London is a fixer; but she is realizing this summer that she can’t fix anyone who doesn’t want to be fixed. She can’t fix Vaughn. And she can’t fix her brother who is also having some serious issues. But she wants to help them both, especially Vaughn, get their lives back.

When Vaughn starts letting his guard down for London, it’s really beautiful how he opens up to her, not just about his injury; but about how he feels about it and how he feels about her. I loved how even beneath the grumbly man he’s become, she brought out the best in him.

The way that London helps him, but doesn’t push him and lets him find his own way was perfect.

This was a great way to end the Wyncote series and transition into Cali Melle’s new professional hockey series that is coming next.

And just like that the Wyncote Wolves series has come to an end. Vaughn's story was the perfect way to close it out. I am so happy to see him healing, and in love.

If you've read previous stories in the series, then you know the injury that ended Vaughn's hockey career. It was heart wrenching. Now here we are two years later, and he's still grieving. No one can seem to get through to him, so it's time for some tough parental love. Vaughn is headed to Stillwater Lake to help out with the family business. While there it will give him a break from any imagined stressors, and hopefully help him out. Of course Stillwater Lake is not where he wants to be, but his parents are giving him no real choice.

Thankfully once there he falls into a routine. Not only that but he reconnects with his childhood friends. Naturally his eyes fall upon London, as she's someone he hasn't been able to forget. London is the perfect partner for Vaughn. She will motivate him, encourage him, and deliver that tough love when necessary. London is a lover, a fixer, and she just wants what is best for those she cares about. Whether that be Vaughn, Emery, or her twin brother. That being said you could see that switch begin to flip, as she came to terms with the fact that she has to let them figure things out on their own from time to time. Yes she can be there to guide, but ultimately they have to make the choice.

Loved the relationship between these two. You could see Vaughn begin to deal with the mental aspect of his injury, and look toward the future. All he needed was London in his corner, and the prospect of a new job to give him the assist.

Sad to see this series end, but I know Cali Melle has more wonderful stories to share. I look forward to reading those.

☆ 5/5 & 2.5/5 spice

Bittersweet feeling finishing up the last book of this series. Out of the whole series, I must say Vaughn and London’s book is probably one of my favorite. Their story was full of emotion and absolutely heartbreaking. Cali did a wonderful job of showcasing mental health representation in this book, showing us how the characters are affected, their journey, and how they deal with their mental health.

Vaughn, this sweet sweet guy. Learning about how his backstory, made me teared up and I felt so emotional. He has experienced so much pain and struggles with dealing how to cope after experiencing a horrible incident during one of his hockey games. After that traumatic experience, he began isolating himself and pushed everyone away. Vaughn is devastated since his future of being a professional hockey player is ripped away from him and he doesn’t know how to deal with life without hockey and doing things that he used to love.

London, is Vaughn’s next-door neighbor at his small lake town. She’s also one of his childhood friends. London is a positive, happy, caring, and supportive person. She’s also a person who sees the good in people and would want to help fix them.

The intimate moment on the island made me so happy to see how much these two care for each other. The way Vaughn helped comfort London and how London wants the best for him, by being their to support him and help him heal from his past. London was such a bright light of sunshine, who was such a positive addition to his life. Their connection was everything and they both deserve all the happiness after everything they’ve been through.

Highly recommend this book!

**ARC REVIEW**
5 star read without a doubt!! I loved reading London and Vaughn's story!

Vaughn has always dreamed of making it to the NHL and but one event two years ago changes that all. The accident left him with a knee injury that means he can no longer play professional hockey. Now he is in a dark lonely place with no direction on what's next in his life.

I cannot imagine how hard it would be to be in his shoes, losing your dreams in the blink of an eye. His mum convinces him he can't sit around moping forever and encourages him to go to and work at their store at Stillwater Lake.

London is visiting Stillwater Lake for the summer and doesn't expect to run into Vaughn. It has been two years since she last saw him. She knows a little about what happened to Vaughn but was shocked to see just how lost he is and all that anger he has inside him.

Cali Melle wrote these characters beautifully and I love how London was going to fight for her man and bring out the man she knows he can be. London truly was the light of Vaughn's life and helped bring him out of the darkness. I loved all their moments good and bad and every time he called her "baby" I swooned!!

I am sad this is the last book in the series but I think Cali has ended the Wyncote Wolves series beautifully! This book can be read as a stand-alone.

I will need to go back and read the first 7 books as this was my first Cali Melle book! Can't wait for the new series coming next!!

Thanks Literally Yours PR & Cali Melle for the ARC. This review is my own opinion :)

”you’re my journey and my destination, London Hayes.”

the last book of the Wyncote Wolves… and what a way to end the series. 🥹🥹🥹

Vaughn Carter is a broken lost boy who felt like his whole life was shattered from an injury that ended his career. He had no sense of direction and was spiraling through depression. London Hayes is always taking the fall for her twin brother. All she knows how to do is “fix” people and their problems, not really living for herself. What happens when you have London fixing lost Vaughn Carter?

”my self-worth has been so low for so long, I forgot what it looked like to value myself.”

My heartstrings was definitely being pulled, especially for Vaughn Carter. 😭💔 He lost his whole world during a hockey game, and fell into a deep depression. He felt like he wasn’t good enough anymore for anything in life. I understand what it is like to feel like things are just not going your way, your mind starts to think low of yourself.

London Hayes, man.. this girl carries so much baggage due to her twin brother when she didn’t need to, but felt the need to. I felt bad for her when she felt betrayed by her brother. They did eveything together and to keep the biggest secret from her really broke her as well. I’m really glad she was able to break through that shell and defend herself when needed.

Overall, Vaughn and London were definitely what they both needed for each other. London was there to “fix” Vaughn to show him life outside of hockey, that his life wasn’t over. And Vaughn helped London realize to live for herself and not to expect anything less from anyone. ♥️

Also, I’m so glad that Vaughn reached out to all the Wyncote players again🥹🥹

Thankyou Cali Melle and Literally Yours PR for this ARC& I can’t wait for Cali’s pro-hockey romances 🩵🩵

“You just have to let me in so I can find you.”
“You belong in the light, not the darkness.”
“I’ll follow you into the dark.”

All good things must come to an end at some point… and it’s Wyncote Wolves time. The series went out with a bang with Off-Ice Collision. This book was definitely my favorite from the series.
This book had it all: Friends to Enemy-ish to lovers, second chance, grumpy x sunshine, sports-ish, summer love, heartbreak, healing, acceptance. I love that this book is mostly set in the summer. It’s got that late-night, falling in love by the lake, never want to let you go vibes.

After being dealt a difficult path and having to leave the hockey world, Vaughn, falls down a path of destruction and depression. London is always fighting her brother’s battles and it takes a toll on her. Eventually, London and Vaughn’s paths collide and damnn. Vaughn and London just seemed to fit. Together they began to heal, find themselves, and love for one another. There were lots of twists and turns along the way. London’s brother was a tad bit scandalous but he added a little something extra to the book.

This book touches on some really tough situations, but it’s done tastefully. Depression is represented really well with how Vaughn acts and chooses to go about things. Don’t worry, he isn’t all gloom and doom – he does heal.

At one point Vaughn mentions his cousin Ander having dealt with addiction and my heart was so happy that this character was mentioned. Ander is from the In Vein series by C.M. Radcliff (aka Cali Melle). AND two other characters were mentioned which are from an upcoming book that Cali wrote. I love that she chose to tie in all these books and series from both of her pen names.

With Off-Ice Collisions being the end, I sort of expected to see more characters from the series and to get a small update on them. Either way, though, I’m content with how the book and series ended. I can’t wait to see what else Cali Melle has up her sleeve.

And the end of the Wyncote wolves series is here! I was looking forward to Vaughan story ever since his accident in a previous book. You just knew he wasn’t going to handle it well. And sure enough we pick up his story two years later and he’s fallen deep into a dark spiral and has shut everyone out. In desperation his mom sends him to their lake house to work at their shop for the summer. There he runs into London, one of his childhood friends and she takes it on herself to bring him back to life.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I enjoyed it and liked that Melle is clearly introducing us to a new community for future books but it wasn’t my fave of the series (that probably goes to the goalie who stole Christmas). London’s hero complex is soooo huge but then she just like flipped a switch (which good for her) halfway through and was all tough love. It left me feeling confused by her. And I’m assuming her brother is going to get his own story at some point bc we def left things hanging with their sibling relationship.

I did enjoy London and Vaughn together. They were super sweet and I really loved how he let her deal with her stuff with her family in her own way. And he needed tough love and that’s what she gave him in the end. They def complimented each other. Sad to see the end of the Wyncote wolves but excited for the Orchid City series and Melle branching out into other sports!

"It’s like I’m breathing life back into him, and it’s addicting. I don’t want to stop now just to save myself."

4.5⭐

I am so sad to see the Wynocote Wolves series come to an end. 😭 But, we know all good things must come to an end & Vaughns story was a heartbreaking ending. There was much love darkness ,and growth, and then there was light found at the end of the tunnel.

Imagine having a dream ending injury, before you even had a chance to experience the dream.
That’s what happed to Vaughn. Before he even had the chance to be in the NHL, one hit took that chance away from him. He’s been a shell of a person for two years, sulking away in his childhood bedroom. Not really living and Mom and Dad have had enough, laying on the tough love now. Vaughn is going to the lake house for the summer to work his parents’ shop, and getting out of his bedroom, and his head.
This change of scenery brings him back to his “summer time” friends, neighbors London and Maverick Carter. They all spent their summers together growing up and London sees the darkness in Vaughn, and wants to help. She is a fixer, constantly helping her brother, she knows the Vaughn she knows is still in there. She will do whatever to help him, even if she's warned it may hurt.

👀 “I love hearing you moan my name, but I want to hear you scream it.”

I love how London was able to help Vaughn, and how he was able to finally come to terms with his new future. Such a great story!
