Jednocześnie Ziemi i całej ludzkości zagrażają niezwykłe istoty - Opoponaksy.
John Raymond Brosnan was an Australian writer of both fiction and non-fiction works based around the fantasy and science fiction genres. He was born in Perth, Western Australia, and died in South Harrow, London, from acute pancreatitis. He sometimes published under the pseudonyms Harry Adam Knight, Simon Ian Childer (both sometimes used together with Leroy Kettle), James Blackstone (used together with John Baxter), and John Raymond. Three not very successful movies were based on his novels–Beyond Bedlam (aka Nightscare), Proteus (based on Slimer), and Carnosaur. In addition to science fiction, he also wrote a number of books about cinema and was a regular columnist with the popular UK magazine Starburst.
I picked this book up at a library sale and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It's the story of Joster Rack, an electric thief who steals from the big corporations while hiding behind different identities and a myriad of different bodies. He's always been a few steps ahead of them, but during his last heist he made a mistake and they're on to him. But even worse, he unwittingly uleashed The Opoponax Invasion on mankind and as the aliens start to take over the Network, Joster might be the only one who can stop them.
This is a clever story, if a bit baffling in places, but the ideas are great. With godlike AI's in charge and a fantastic prison set up, the future of 2248 doesn't look so good. Extremely fast-paced and funny in places, I'm sure you'll enjoy this as much as I did.
So, it was a book chosen from the shelf in the library, and I was positively surprised. Story was interesting, I like all plot arks. It is a really good book about first contact, how aliens may arrive. Also story in a distant future, when we expanded into solar system. For me it was a fresh approach.
