Fabric Savvy is a handy, spiral-bound reference on virtually every fabric imaginable--from the newest to the old favorites. It's a must for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed in a fabric store by all the fabric and notion choices. Fabrics are listed alphabetically for easy reference. Specific information for each fabric includes preshrinking instructions, layout, marking, interfacing, needle and thread options, stitch length, seam finishing, pressing, topstitching, closures, hemming, and more!
I got this book after seeing it recommended in a review of another book I was looking at. Basically, it's a guide to lots and lots (85, I think) fabrics. Each fabric has a two-page spread, with one side being all the info you'd need to sew with it--preshrinking instructions, how to lay it out, mark, cut, interface, presser foot to use, pressing, etc. The other side gives fabric facts, what the fabric is especially suitable for, and sewing tips. There are other tips added throughout. I'm not really sewing (yet) so didn't look as closely on the first page's info, but it was really interesting to learn about all the different fabric facts and suitability, and to look at the pictures. I'll probably get it from the library again when I have questions about different fabrics.
I got this at the library, but think I might like owning this- it tells you about every fabric, from what stitches, to what garments and what sewing foot to use and offers tips on each kind of fabric. I thought it was great!
