Doctrines of Development sets out a critique of the idea of practice of development by exploring the history of development theory and action from the early nineteenth century to the late twentieth century, from Britain to Quebec and Kenya.
Reading this as a Development Studies Masters stufldent. Very challenging, a labyernith, and hard to nail down what's more significant or central to the book, but a must read if curious about development in enlightenment, Hegel and Marx. ah, and the roots of intl dev banks in Austrian late 19th century bankng! oh well, and perhaps a dozen more things if i read it one more time. see?!
Goes well with "History of Development", Rist, right after, specially first few chapters of the later.
