I am a big fan of Guideposts and have read other books published by or recommended by the organization. That said, I do not read many books with a religious orientation. I picked this up because I enjoy thrift shopping and yard sales and auctions. I have also spent a good deal of time with the church ladies organizing dinners and fundraisers and have watched the "regulars" interact in the church kitchen. This book was like watching those interactions. You know each of the main characters has some feelings about the others that they will not say to their faces and overall they want to believe the best about each other. I would call this a GENTLE mystery. It is more a story about the interactions of a small town cast of characters. The "mystery" (actually there are two) is just a means for the reader to come along. Those who enjoy the Mitford Series will appreciate this quick and simple read.
I will also say that this book was a gentle nudge to get up and do some house cleaning.
Another silly "mystery" in this series, delightful characters and a fun read even though the mystery is very shallow (it's more of a real life kind of mystery!) and the story is somewhat unbelievable (exxagerated). Still it's fun, and the characters so much fun to get to know.
What a cute book! While I was confused by the characters at times (maybe that's what happens when you jump into a series at book 16! lol), I really enjoyed the writing and the fast pace. It's a fun book I recommend for a quick afternoon read!
