It was fun to read it. But a lot of things were just too obvious. You don't have to be a psychic to know what would happen and who was behind the accusation of fraud. So the ending was very predictable but it was still a cute happy ever after.

This was a fast but funny read

Samantha has finished University but unfortunately cannot find work in her field. One day she decides to call a clairvoyant phone chat and thus this hilarious story begins.

The book was cleverly written (I actually laughed out loud a couple of times). Her relationship with Jack was sweet (he was totally bonkers and did not care!).

The ending was a bit predictable and you can tell exactly who made those accusations. Nevertheless I still enjoyed the book. The ending felt a bit rushed but I guess that opened the premise for a new book in the series.

I enjoyed the story. The premise of the story was good and had me interested immediately. It was very funny and the writing good (in terms of plot), but quite UK centric (which isn't an entirely bad thing). The British self-deprecating humour came to the fore in the writing.

I'd have given it 5 but for a few things that constantly niggled at me.

1) The utter lack of proofreading - if there WAS any proofreading of this novel then it was done by a dyslexic with absolutely NO grammatical skills whatsoever. The worst Kindle novel I've come across for typos and grammatical errors. Really, really bad (and I'm not normally one to fuss over these kind of things so that gives you some idea as to how bad it is). I am the last person to talk about typos and errors in grammar, believe me, but for them to be detected by me must make them appallingly obvious, and at times really detracted from the enjoyment of the story.

2) The story's protagonist is meant to be 26 years old, but she says things and/or acts like someone much older, referencing points in popular culture that wouldn't be something that would necessarily apply to her (Eg: wanting to audition for voice work on Spitting Image - which ended in 1996, she'd have been 11 at the time, or the comparison of her plight with a character on coronation Street in which the event took place in 1995 - when she was 10. The latter is feasible as a storyline in a soap that could stay in her memory for that length of time, especially as it was a major storyline for some time, and with subsequent TV nostalgia sound-bite look backs). There were other subtleties that just didn't sound right. I just felt all the time that this 26 year old was being written by someone at least 40 years old. I kept having to remind myself that the character of Samantha/Crystal was 26 and NOT 40. Why she couldn't have been 40 I don't know.

3) The somewhat sloppy ending. The story could have ended at least 2 chapters earlier but was drawn out and went into a direction that was frankly predictable and unwarranted. It was a great read until those final chapters (and the final 'twist' of the story) happened.

Other than those three points, I actually did enjoy it. It was funny and well executed (until the final two chapters) - I'd have like to have said 'well written' but with the typos and grammatical errors I can't really use those words. I recommend it as a quick, light read.

Sam is young and broke after studying for a degree at university in order to help people with a phobia of vegetables. She signs up with a psychic telephone line company and soon becomes the star of the show - literally.

Although psychic, poor Sam doesnt see the stuff hitting the fan before it arrives, and it is a hilarious journey at times as she comes to terms with her powers and the fact that not everyone she loves actually loves her in return.

funny and well worth the read!!

When Sam starts to hear voices of real dead people her psychic career soon takes off and she becomes a psychic to the stars with her own radio and TV show.
While the basic story is funny and interesting... the poor editing kept getting in the way. Many sentences became paragraphs long continuously, so much so that I found myself losing the gist of the sentence. Writing the book as a present tense was hard to get use too. The Author repeated words and ideas a little too often.
Having said that, I still finished the book because it was a good story.
I cannot recommend it at this time due to the editing problems but if they were cleared up, I would recommend to everyone. Like I said, it was a good story, just edited poorly.[[ASIN:B004PLMIGE Oh Great, Now I Can Hear Dead People! (The Oh Great Series)]]

Loved this book. Funny, easy to read and incredibly thought provoking. The book left me feeling uplifted and more inclined to embrace some aspects of my life that I had been trying to ignore. Being psychic is a double edged sword, and as this novel points out, it can be used to serve the greater good of all. It is kind of like having appointments with Heaven, which I am sure that each of us, at some stage in our life, would embrace and love.

I loved that!! so funny and clever and beautifully British :-D
Totally not my usual genre and I did crave a bit more heat between Jack and Samantha! They didn't even have a first kiss!!!! But, that wasn't what the book was about and there's a strong possibility that I'm just a sexed up loon whom reads way to much erotica! anyways, I digress, yes, I loved it!!

I predict lots of laughter for you as you read this entertaining tale about the development and adventures of the ‘quirky’ psychic, Samantha Ball, AKA Crystal! A charming, light-hearted read with very loveable characters.

Funny, warm and thoroughly readable! Sam is a truly believeable character, caught up in a world she doesn't understand, and with only her desire to help people in their grief! Friendship, loyalty, betrayal and good old fashioned humour.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are fun, it's an easy read and I look forward to the next instalment. Sam's psychic abilities are something that we all wish we could do...talk to those who have gone before us.
