Lone Tree

Rate this book
A California girl dares to mess with Texas.

Lainie Johnson travels to the Lone Tree ranch in West Texas after her mother's death in order to meet her maternal grandfather--who doesn't even know she exists. Because of the twenty-five- year estrangement between her mother and grandfather, Lainie doesn't tell him who she is, wanting first to find out what kind of man he is before inviting him into her life.

But she soon finds that he isn't the only man she must contend with. Reed Smith, the bossy and cocky ranch foreman, figures that Lainie is the woman for him the first time he lays eyes on her. She feels the same about him, but because of the secrets she's holding, she fights the attraction. So ... just who's going to blink first?

Three strong threads run through Lone Tree, tying Lainie to the ranch and its characters and the nearby town. The sexy cowboy who won't take no for an answer supplies the romantic spark--and it's a hot one--and Miles Auburn, Lainie's implacable grandfather, provides conflict and opposition as well as familial love. When Lainie befriends Jackie Lyn from town, they're each marked for violence by Jackie's husband, who's in prison but is on his way out.

Romance, suspense, danger, laughs and tears along with unforgettable characters, fill the pages of Lone Tree.

I won this book thru the Goodreads Giveaway just in time for Christmas any my wife and my 30th anniversary.

After her mother dies, Lainie goes In search to find her family and ends up in Texas on her grandfather's ranch. Having a little knowledge of her family background, she decides that she would rather he not know who she is right off. Instead, she takes on the job as his assistant until she can get to know him better. Problems start popping up when she finds herself developing an attraction to the ranch foreman.

My wife loved this book and completely devoured it in the two days between Christmas and our anniversary.

Lone Tree made me stay up late (or early...however you want to call it^^)which probably means that I enjoyed it. :-)

I loved Lainie - she is just so random...changes her mind all the time and just does the weirdest things. That's what made her so real and authentic.

I have spent half of today online browsing for some boots. :-)

The book started well but then it took some bad turns.
I didn't like the murder. Yes, he was a rapist, I just think vigilante justice is never okay.
