He was Sar Dahveed Israel—the king’s son-in-law, captain of the guard, and most loyal servant. But after witnessing Dahveed’s glowing reception along the road to Gibeah at the end of the war season, King Shaul ordered the death of Israel’s hero . . . again. Only this time, Hassar Jonathan’s pleadings were powerless to sway his father’s wrath.
Forced to abandon all he had come to love, Dahveed bitterly fled Gibeah and soon was hunted like a beast of the field. Nonetheless, Yahweh had great plans for His anointed one.
While Shaul lost the respect of Israel, and Jonathan worked to prepare the kingdom for Yahweh’s chosen king, Dahveed reluctantly accepted the growing band of men that Yahweh sent to serve him. Still uncertain of his right and ability to govern, he found encouragement in Roeh Shamuel’s last words of “Yahweh has given you all you need to become Melek for Him. But you must remember to use what He has given. Learn to follow Him closely in every responsibility which is yours.”
Then Yahweh sent the Gebirah—Abigail.
Based on solid historical research, this third book in Fivash's series on the life of David takes the reader through David's life as a fugitive, filling out the biblical outline while remaining true to the culture and thought of the times in which David lived.
I have never lived more than 30 miles from Lake Michigan. I was born on the east side, grew up on the west side, and now live on the east side again. However, I rarely have time to go there! I attended Andrews University, graduating with a Master's Degree in History in 1986. I am a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honors society for History; and a charter member of the Andrews University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the national interdisciplinary honors society. I began writing for publication in 2000 after seeing the need for books about biblical characters which were not only biblically accurate, but historically and culturally accurate as well. My husband and I have been married for over 30 years and have two children. We have always lived in the same house!
This sequel talks of sauls betrayal of David he tries to kill him and nearly succeeds until a changing point comes to them strengthening the freindship they hold. Hassar Isreal acquires a wife and David two. Also Abner’s sons life takes a turn for the worst and many more secrets to discover.
I loved the book Joseph so I naturally fell into this series. I loved book 1 , thought book 2 forced, but this one fell flat. The story has disappeared to a more reporting style, the characters seem flat. Three stars are given because I enjoyed the way Abigail was portrayed, but I skimmed much of the rest.
A stunning and captivating new addition to the series. The way Ms. Fivash writes draws you in and promises to never let you go, at least not until there are no more pages to read. The latest chapter in the story of one of Israel's greatest kings is a success on all counts!
