Mills & Boon Blush series brings you moving, true-to-life romancesHome isn't a place it's a feeling
Brian Conway is Hayden MacNulty's hero from the start. One Halloween, she knocks on his door, and before long, her puppy love turns serious. His mother, Kathleen, welcomes her with open arms. Brian's house, with its neat shutters and window boxes, isn't just a home. It's family.
As the years pass and life pulls them in different directions, Brian remains Hayden's touchstone, her best friend. So how is it that they never seem to get it right when they're together? Not even the child they bring into the world can persuade Hayden to accept Brian's proposals.
But a life-altering challenge can change almost anything, and in one special moment Hayden knows it's time to say, 'I do.'

Well, my fictional life sounds more interesting, but not better than my real life. Really, I'm the happily married mother of four. I cook a lot, garden and weave baskets! I write for Montlake Romance and Harlequin. My books range from lighthearted comedies to more serious dramas...but at heart, they're all stories of love.
I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at www.hollyjacobs.com/bookseries.html. I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!
Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!
I didn't care for this book. The way time jumped around so much left me confused. On page 87, Hayden is pregnant. On page 101, Hayden's daughter, Olivia, is suddenly 16 years old. Later, Olivia is 2 years old. Everything kept jumping around so much, I was never sure how old Olivia was going to be on the next page of the book. It drove me absolutely bananas! Too many flashbacks. That made the story very disjointed. I also got really annoyed with Hayden for the cold way she treated Brian (Olivia's father) when things got rough. And he ends up apologizing to her? What for? He tried to help her and she cut him out. One can only try so much to reach out and help someone. If you keep getting snubbed and shut out, it's normal to back off and give up trying. Eventually, you have to think just of yourself and your own feelings. Repeated attempts to help someone who refuses to be helped eventually prove useless. I felt he had every right to back off. It should have been her, and her alone, doing the apologies. Nope. I didn't care for this book at all.
I read this book a couple years ago and it has stuck with me to this day. I can remember the characters as if I read it yesterday! I've always enjoyed Holly's books and her characters. This book, this story is simply unforgettable and stands at the top of my list.
If you're new to Holly Jacobs books, this is a must read. And if you're a fan - then chances are you've read it and know exactly where I'm coming from. And for those looking for an emotional story that makes you laugh one minute, cry the next and never want to close the book - then The House on Briar Hill Road is waiting for you.
I hope someone snatches up the movie rights to this story. I can only envision it being as beautiful as the book itself.
This was a sweet, sometimes sad story of love and loss that is told with a great deal of humor. I'm a big Holly Jacobs fan, and this book is one of my favorites.
