Exiliado político desde 1975 en México, hoy ciudadano mexicano, es profesor en el Departamento de Filosofía en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM, Iztapalapa, ciudad de México), y en el Colegio de Filosofía de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM (Ciudad Universitaria). Licenciado en filosofía (Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina), doctor en filosofía por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, doctor en historia en La Sorbonne de Paris y una licencia en teología en Paris y Münster. Ha obtenido doctorados honoris causa en Freiburg (Suiza) y en la Universidad de San Andrés (La Paz, Bolivia). Fundador con otros del movimiento Filosofía de la Liberación. Trabaja especialmente el campo de la Ética y la Filosofía Política.

Devastatingly insightful and informative.

Poor Latin American women (Latinas) have been described “the soulless ones” and “doubly oppressed”. Latinas often have the experience of having the Bible quoted against them at a variety of levels: their gender, their ethnicity, their culture, and in the case of Afro-Latinas, their race. Historically in Latin America, the conqueror was a male of respectability, whilst the most alienated was the Indian woman. (p5)
“Latin America has a unique place in universal history, and therefore the LA church has a unique place in the history of the universal church.” (p295)
“He who sees Jesus in the poor and serves him is the only one who can be saved.”
