An introduction to prayer for children that provides examples of what to talk to God about, answers questions about how and where you can pray, and clarifies common misconceptions about prayer.

This started off just ok. It talks about various ideas of what you can talk to God about, but then it got into clarifying a lot of misconceptions and questions that kids have about prayer and I thought that part of the book was excellent. I'm not thrilled about the font choices for the text. I don't see why they chose to emphasize half of the text in a different font, it just made it a little harder to read. The illustrations were good for the target audience though.

Read this to my one month old and prayed with her after. Mentions many of the things we can pray and be thankful for. Longer read, but simple words for young readers.

This book was good and bad. It had really simple language and a very concrete overview of prayer for little kids to understand. That said, there was also needless Christian doctrine sprinkled throughout. I noticed other people reviewing this felt it was a little heavy handed too. You might enjoy What Is God?.

I got this for my kids to help lay the foundation of a relationship with God. I skip some pages because I don't want to indoctrinate my kids before they can think critically about it, but I like this book still. I will wait until they are in grade school to really read it to them, but I leave it on their bookshelf so they can choose it when they want.

This was horrifying... What decent human would buy this for a child?! Talk about brainwashing them early...

FYI: I read it out of curiosity because it showed up in donations for a garage sale I'm helping set up.

2.5 stars [Children's]

A decent Children's book to read with, or give to, a child who has already made a decision of faith in Christ. Generic, like most of Omartian's work, its utility is slightly above average in the area of Christian praxis (prayer). Theological ambiguity is of course easily achieved within Children's prose. One page is on Jesus, the Bible is mentioned, and Omartian does provide a caveat against God giving us whatever we ask for. A decent element of gratitude in prayer.

This book puts way more emphasis on praying then on also listening for God's response to our thanks, prayers and requests. Of course we are definitely supposed to pray all the time, but we also need to listen for God's voice, for Him to talk back to us.

A simple book but very biblical. I don't think I spotted anything unbiblical in this short book.

Overall very good. It's extremely wordy though for young kids, and the art style isn't my personal favorite. Also very weird that there's a corded phone but maybe this book was written a while ago.

reread: this book is soooo unnecessarily long it's impossible not to tune out

The illustrator of this book isn't Christian and does NOT believe in God. Exploitin faith and family for profit through children is horrrible.

This is a book about prayer for boys and girls. It does a wonderful job of putting prayer into words that don’t seem confusing, scary, or intimidating to young ones. It is a basic, yet deep, way of understanding prayer for children.
I wish I had read this book when I was younger! It does such a great job at showing what prayer is and what to pray for in general. I wouldn’t use this in a public school classroom setting because I would probably get fired, but using this in a Sunday school class would be amazing!
