Grant Price wants old classmate Melody Mason to work for his family's Boston investment company. Melody, the Wall Street Wizard, has suddenly retired from big business and hidden herself away in a quiet Tennessee town. This was a positive imagine of a black romance fiction. The characters had interest that appeals to the average working or middle class blacks. My favorite was the scenes that describe Grant and Melody relationship back when they were in college. You can almost see why Melody crush develop into a love that she could not forget no matter how many lovers cross her path. You can even understand why Grant did not see Melody as a person of much interest before he tried to recruit her into his firm. Grant always had an interest in her back in school that even he did not understand. It was interesting to see how his interest grew into something much more signifigant. This was a beautiful and touching romance story that makes you smile like an adolescent in love.

I enjoyed this book. It was a nice and relaxing read. Loved the sense of humor in the story. I'd recommend this book.

Just okay
I thought Melody and Grant story was typical, predictable and boring. I started to skim through their story after a while. I also used Alexa to read it to me because I kept falling asleep when I tried to read it on my own. It didn’t get interesting until I was 85% into the book and even then Melody actions after hearing Grant defend her to his father was kind of ridiculous to me, you would think she would realize he really cared about her. However her best friend Joyce and her husband Kevin story was more interesting even though the story was less about them the struggle of him supporting her goals proved to be interesting. I gave it 3 stars because it wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t be recommending it and I have read other books by this author and really liked them, this one just wasn’t that entertaining to me.

Grant and Melanie
This updated version of this book still warms my heart. The story was sweet and engaging. I liked Grant and Melanie as a couple. Trying to get Melanie back into the high powered financials and such proved to be just the opposite goal for Grant. I loved every minuet of this nicely told story..

It took some time but Kevin was able to realize he was wrong. All Joyce wanted was his support. I'm glad he got it together and they were happy. I like Melody and Grant together. They were the same but still different at the same time. She him do what he wanted and helped her be able to trust again. Keep these great stories coming.

Sappy, light ❤ romance novel. Umm, I tried and tried but this genre is not for me at all. I gave this first novel by the author Phyllis Bourne a 3 *** rating. Her writing and characters were 👍.

Very Insightful
I love this book because it shows how in marriage all problems don’t stem from infidelity. I love the way Melody was able to open Grants eyes to new things. Grants father shows an example of how not to be with your children

I really enjoy reading every chapter of this book! Melody saved Grant from work and missing out on life and Grant saved Melody from missing out on love. Loved this book!

I loved this book.
A Moment on the Lips takes place in a small town, the kind I know well, where everyone knows everyone's business. Melody moved away to be a high falutin' investment banker, but a health scare has her home because she's got her priorities straight. Grant's going to pull off a coup by talking Melody into coming back to work for his father's company. Yeah. About that. Instead, she turns the tables on him and takes all of his electronic gadgets in a bid to make him realize what parts of life are really worth living.
SUBPLOT! Melody's BFF, Joyce, is finally going back to school. Her husband, Kevin, is taking it as a personal affront. SO while Melody and Grant are falling in love, Joyce and Kevin's marriage is unraveling, and the dual stories keep you turning pages.
A Moment on the Lips is masterful in how it reveals bits and pieces of each character as the story wears on. These are rich, complex characters with strengths and weaknesses. Or maybe I can just really relate to a grown woman who's still holding a grudge over a B in high school. (Okay. Fine. Mine was in college, but still...) Lots of humorous moments with feisty dessert withholding Ruth and the mix up with the Knitty Gritty sign. Ah, fun times. Oh, and bonus points for being set in Tennessee!

What a CHARMING romance...an ENGAGING cast of characters...an INTRIGUING storyline...with quite a few ENDEARING and funny moments...that kept me turning the pages throughout...it also has some WONDERFUL little life lessons...about HEALTH, following your DREAMS, FAITH and TRUST...I also LOVE the fact that Melody has secretly had a crush on Grant since college and she just CAN'T seem to shake it...BUT will Melody ever TRUST Grant or herself in matters of the heart...and will Grant FINALLY realize there's more to life than work before it's too late...a SWEET treat and I'm looking forward to reading more from Mrs. Bourne-Williams.

Pure delight
I enjoyed Melly and Grant's from the first word. It was so real the way both of them had to deal with issues. The way Joyce and Kevin's worked within the story was.
