Tiny likes to go places with his best friend. But when they go to the library, Tiny has to wait outside. Soon it's time to bring the books home. Tiny is a very big help! Not since Clifford has a big dog been so appealing!
Cari Meister lives on a small farm in Minnesota with her husband, four sons, three horses, one dog and one cat. Cari enjoys running, snowshoeing, horseback riding, and yoga. She loves to visit libraries and schools!
Tiny and his best friend go the library. Tiny waits outside while his best friend chooses books for them to read and enjoy. There are so many books that it takes help from Tiny to get them all home.
Solid option for a low level book (0.5) with cute characters and relationship btwn boy and dog. Text isn't as friendly as it could be for beginning readers (small font) and illustrations aren't super vivid. T enjoyed and wanted to read more from this series but wasn't a huge hit.
The boy goes to the library with Tiny, but Tiny can't go in. He ends up getting so many books that his wagon is too heavy to pull it back home. Good thing he has a big dog to help him out.
As I've discussed, my son, who is 6 years old, is a reluctant reader. He doesn't love it. He melts down over how long books are. Yet he's doing a great job at actually reading.
Tiny Goes to the Library wasn't a book that he was excited about reading. They can't all be books that we're excited about, right? At least at this stage the books are all short and easy to read. He's doing really well. I didn't notice as much repetition in phonetic sounds or specific words in this book as I have with some other early readers. He did get to read "Tiny" and "library" over and over. So those were two words that he gained some familiarity with.
In the end, I think Tiny Goes to the Library gets 3 Stars. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't blown away by the story or the vocabulary building/phonetic skills. This was just an okay addition to our early reader library. Have you read Tiny Goes to the Library? What did you think? Let me know!
Tiny is a dog, but unlike his name, he is HUGE. Though the stories do not feature many characters, mainly Tiny and his owner, a young boy, the stories are simple and engaging. In "Tiny Goes to the Library", Tiny the dog wishes to go to the library with his owner. Unfortunately, there's a "No Dogs" policy at the library. The pair then figure out a creative way for Tiny to share in the library experience. This story is vividly illustrated in full color which will capture the eye of young children, especially kids who are mainly visual learners. The sentences are simple in structure and repetitive. Also the visual clues provided within the illustrations enable children to figure out words by themselves. The elements are familiar sight words which lean towards early readers and keeps them interested. This is a book I've read to my youngest sister who was learning how to read , she used to ask me to read it all the time. However, I feel it really made her want to keep reading books and made it fun for her.

Tiny is a great best friend and he can go almost anywhere...but the library. Tiny must wait outside while his friend finds a load of books...too many books! But what will happen when the wagon full of books is to heavy to pull?
"Tiny", like Clifford, is an oversize "best pal" dog who goes everywhere the boy narrator goes -- even to the library. But Tiny must wait outside while the boy collects a wagon load of books for Tiny to pull home.
Love this book...a dog, a library...what more could you want? As a librarian, I embrace all books about libraries, but this one is so cute! Our kids have loved it for years.
