What a cool idea to write this book!
The icing on the cake is the Short Stories that give behind the scenes background of characters from Earlene's books! Also included are snap shots of "real" places that became part of the setting in her novels.
This book caught my eye because I like quilts that are out of the ordinary, so there was that. Also, my husband reads Earlene Fowler's fiction, and we like to discuss how the title of the book (the name of a quilt block) connects with the quilt block pattern on the cover and the story line.
In short, a good time was had by all! :)

Now I have read everything that I could find on Benni Harper Ortiz. The quilts are beautiful, but they are beyond my expertise. I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures of the real places and objects that made their way into the books.

This is a great campanion book to the first six Benni Harper mysteries. It features quilt patterns designed by Margrit Hall that coordinate with those books. The book also has original stories written by Earlene Fowler that add to the stories told in her books. Great book for quilters and Benni Harper fans.

Most of the patterns aren't my style but I really liked all of the little stores of things that happen "off the page" in the book series, like Benni's wedding to Gabe and Dove's conversation with God when deciding whether to date Isaac.

Beautiful quilt patterns and original stories featuring characters from Earlene Fowler's Benni Harper series. These stories are "offstage" stories of the series.

This is a great companion to the mysteries. Each section has additional stories filling in the details of Bennie's life. I love the quilt projects though I have not done any of them yet.
