This book got me hooked on Linguistics! SO interesting!!! I especially enjoyed reading the history of the Spanish language and how it changed from Latin to modern Spanish over time! As a learner of Spanish as a second language, I appreciated the understanding of the structures of the language I acquired through this book. For example, the study of allophones and phonemes improved my pronunciation so I have less of an accent when I speak Spanish. The study of the sentence structures (syntax) helped me with word order when writing. The study of the morphemes helped me with reading comprehension because I could break the words apart better to find the meaning based on roots and affixes... Very insightful book!
