This was a better-than-most Love Inspired book (I liked enough that I am going to go and look up the rest in the series). Very heart-felt and VERY thought-provoking!! A huge lesson about forgiveness and all that it really entails. Good read!!!

By the time I got to chapter 3 I was ready to toss the book, unread. Todd was proving himself to be a jerk. H was hot-headed and butted in where he was not wanted and spread the secret to the one person he should not have. But I continued and it did get somewhat better, but it will not be one I would want to read again.

Welcome to Hickory Ridge, Michigan, where Christmas is rapidly approaching. Here we meet unwed Hannah Woods, daughter of minister, Bob Woods, Hannah’s daughter Rebecca….and Todd McBride, Hannah’s one and only love. Five years ago, when unbeknownst to Todd, Hannah became pregnant with his child – and of course being a minister’s daughter, the talk of the town. Todd and his family move away without Hannah ever having told Todd about the pregnancy. She was never able to forgive Todd for loving her and then leaving.

After all this time, Todd has returned to Hickory Ridge – on a specific mission – he plans to find Hannah, whom he still loved and adored and ask for a second chance. There’s just one thing…. Todd still doesn't know about the child he and Hannah share, which of course throws everything into a tailspin, or so it seems.

I enjoyed reading about Hannah and Todd. I was able to relate very well to Hannah in some ways, her issue being true forgiveness, it is difficult for her to give, especially after being hurt by the one she loved. On the other hand, mine is that of trust. Once, you destroy my sense of trust, its gone and almost impossible to get back, and if earned back, is not like it once was.

A few twists and surprises made this even more enjoyable to read. Well done Ms Corbit.

There's not a lot I can say about this book. This was the kind of novel that you can read without needing to concentrate much, easy to put down and pick up again. I did enjoy it, but there wasn't anything original or special about it and I never really connected with the characters. And while I'm a Christian and generally enjoy inspirational fiction, it seemed as if God was mentioned on every single page of this book! I would have loved to have known how the characters felt, not how they thought God wanted them to feel. If the author had got inside the characters' heads a bit more and toned down the references to God I would probably have enjoyed this more. While I'll probably try a couple more Love Inspired books, I wouldn't go out of my way to read anything else from this author. 6/10
