Both characters are wonderful...
Ruth is very compassionate and lovable in nature.
And Franco, well, his honesty, care, kindness, sense of humour, and wit is incredible,
not to mention his non-chalance.
Here are a few excerpts:

The time when he walk into Ruth's parent's house, to meet her - and is shocked to find that Ruth lied to her parents that they were married:

"Now, darlings, I expect you want to spend the last few minutes together, so Dad and I will leave.
I know we've only exchanged pleasantries", Claire said seriously, proffering her cheek to be kissed by Franco, "but I just have a gut feeling that you're going to make an absolutely wonderful son-in-law. Isn't he, Michael?"
"He'd better! Or he'll have me to answer to!"
If Franco was flabbergasted by the revelation of his status, Ruth thought with reluctant admiration, he hid it well.
He smiled, murmured one or two polite things, shook hands and then, as soon as her parents were out of the room, turned on Ruth, dropping all semblance of civility.
"Like to tell me what the hell is going on? I feel as though I've walked into a madhouse..."

And another, when he asks what Ruth told her parents about his career/position:

"And what did you intend to tell your parents when your husband failed to make an appearance? Misplaced your address, perhaps! Had second thoughts about the whole thing? Or maybe you painted him as some kind of inveterate bum whom you'd idiotically married on a whim?"
"I hadn't thought that far ahead." Ruth whispered.
"I suppose I might have killed you off."
"Killed me off?"
"Well, you were involved in a dangerous line of business."
"What? What line of business?",
He came back to the sofa and sat down heavily.
"Reporting from war zones."
"What?" He resisted the urge to burst out laughing.
There was nothing funny about the situation, but her ingenuity amused him.
"Any in particular?" he asked pleasantly, "Or just the most life-threatening?"
"I hadn't specified. What are you going to do?", she raised her eyes to his and looked at him steadily.

The time when he arrives at the hospital just after Ruth gave birth:

"This may come as a shock you know what a calm, placid, accepting person I am...",
to which Ruth couldn't help but chuckle with tender denial,
"...but I was quite a boor with the driver, who stupidly seemed to attract every traffic jam and red light between Winchester and London and idiotically couldn't turn his car into a hovercraft."

The only drawback, was that a marriage ceremony was not mentioned...
The reader can only but imagine it, because of Franco's declaration.

It started a bit boring then got interesting when the H and h started working together but then her running away trying keep the baby a secret is a NO for me but I totally forgave it because the following events were so funny for my twisted mind that I forgot about the previous issue.

I can't say the h rubbed me the wrong way because I didn't dislike her but I didn't love her either.
The H was really nice and didn't deserve my laughing at him, not that it stopped me.

I really liked this book and was ever so thankful for the Epilogue. The sexy scenes were sexy. The dialgoue was often funny and sharp. The plot was, well, two out of three "ain't bad."

I still ended my reading with an overall good feeling and that makes it a goodread for me.

A charming sweet refreshing romance. An innocent naive woman meets an experienced sexy man = sexual fling. You have read it all before....right? Wrong! This one is told with such sweetness & passion that it reads something like a fairy tale. More emotions & feelings go into the scenes than sexual details (you don't always need to have a play by play of every sex scene) which is wonderful as this lets you imagine.....like an old Doris Day or Cary Grant movie where the married couple closes the bedroom door & the rest is left to your imagation.

It starts a bit slow, but then it gets better and better. Actually the rating is 4,5 stars.

The second part of the book is really gold. The scenes with her parents after she told them he is their son-in-law (which wasn’t true) were funny.

The dialogues between the h and the H in the second part made me smile when he teases her and just persists in what he wants. I love a stubborn, smitten H.

And the passionate things he says to her, wow! It was never vulgar, it was just enough. Perfectly erotic.

Cathy Williams switches from the POV of the H to the POV of the h. She does that brilliantly. What they are thinking and saying is witty and sharp. It made me laugh. The second part of the book was a bit of comedy mixed with romance and sexual chemistry.

I am a really big fan of Cathy Williams’ older HP’s. This book was published in 2000.

Started off interesting. I really liked the hero, but the heroine is a moron and liar. The hero often repeats himself because the heroine can't listen apparently, as well as "skinny" though she eats enough for a "small army."

An easy, sweet, enjoyable book. A vicars daughter and her boss. An unexpected pregnancy. The h ran home to mum and dad and H followed. No drama or angst. Just a lovely, light read.

Ruth has come to work in London believing it will help her to grow as a person. Being a country vicar's daughter, Ruth has always had a compassionate nature, but wanted to be able to add some spide to her life. Living and working in London seemed to be the answer, until the owner of the magazine she worked for arrived on the scene and turned her world around.



Franco was not really looking for love, but finding Ruth at the magazine he owned, he felt a strong desire to have her. Getting her to work with him, to see her confidence grow, stirred his passions. Having her disappear on him, made him angry, but finding out she let her parents believe thry were married already because she was having a baby, seemed to fill an empty space in his heart and in his life.



A very nice, easy story .

Ruth hat ein behütetes Leben geführt. Als sie nach London zieht, ist jeder Tage in Abenteuer für sie. Durch ihren Job bei der Redaktion "Issues" lernt sie ihren Chef Franco Leoni kennen. Als der auch noch mit ihr zusammen einen Artikel schreiben will, merkt sie wie sie ihm immer mehr verfällt.

Mal wieder eine Geschichte über ein armes braves Mädchen, die einen Frauenschwarm zum opfer fällt. Die Geschichte hat mir nicht so gut gefallen. Einfach nur deshalb wie schnell eine Frau ihre Werte vergisst. Es hat mich sehr erschrocken, und hat mich nicht wirklich sehr überzeugt. Ruth war am Anfang eine sehr naive, aber sympathische Frau, doch dann wurde sie komisch mit ihrem verhalten und hat es keinen Spaß mehr gemacht die Geschichte zu lesen.

This was just wonderful. Great characters. Humor. Sweetness.

Franco is Ruth's boss' boss. He takes an instant liking to her and invents an assignment that has both of them working together. A lot of misunderstandings occur in the minds of both characters and when Ruth realises that she's pregnant she leaves the job and goes home to her parents.

Franco follows and in the end he admits his love. I just adore that scene where he describes himself having a tantrum like a toddler.

One thing that mildly bothered me. Having not read anything by this author before I'm not sure if it's the usual. Both the first love scene and the scene of admitting feelings to each other felt as if they had been cut short, unfinished.

It wasn't enough to curb my enjoyment though.

The heroine went to London to grow up and find a job, she fell in love with her boss, the hero. They kept their relationship secret and when she found out she was pregnant, she was shocked. Thinking that their relationship was going no where, she returns to her home town pregnant and alone but the hero shows up.. he won't let her go.

Ruth got on my nerves. Dont you know the word communication? Talk to your man, dont just run away and dont assume you know what he is and what he is thinking. Dont put words on his mouth based on what you think you knew about him. Jeez!
