RE The Pregnant Bride - Catherine Spencer brings us a super control freak H who pairs up with an h who gets jilted. They have a one night stand and then the H runs off.

The h winds up preggers. She tracks down and then marries the H, when he presents it as a mutual aid situation - she gets a hubby to ward off her meddling family and he gets a wife to fight for custody of his supposedly mistreated daughter.

The h finally realizes that this H is OTT in his competitive drive to win at all costs and she reluctantly acknowledges his need for total control over everyone in his life, when she sees that the H's ex wife is a really great mum and the H is just trying to bully her.

Finally, the h leaves his sorry hiney when he threatens her with a custody battle, after she told him she wouldn't help him in court against his ex wife.

The h is nice, but she isn't going to put up with that kind of domineering bullying. Especially since the H is decidedly lacking in the hands on parenting department and his first daughter is very upset by him.

After a few weeks of roaming around, eventually the h calls him up to tell him she is filing for divorce.

The H charters a helicopter to rush to the h and do the roofie kissing, he is sorta sorry for being a controlling nematode confession and he swears he gave up his custody battle vendetta. He also admits that he was mainly at fault in the break down of his first marriage and that he has been causing unnecessary difficulties for his ex wife even after she remarried.

He declares that he loves her and won't be happy without her, but he will go along with the divorce without a custody battle if the h is still inclined that way.

Since the H does all of this explaining on his knees and kinda groveling, the h decides to give him a second chance. She avows her love back and then they start making plans for a renewal of the vows ceremony.

We get a cute epilogue in the H's pov - (CS has been offering more than her usual H pov's all through this,) - and there is no doubt that the H is totally in love with his h, so we can leave the two of them happy and expecting for a very nice HPlandia HEA.

Intially I had some qualms, but I actually wound up liking this one a lot. The H is overbearing but the h is more than a match on holding her own and you get a nice POV switch between the two for a pretty decent 3.5 rounded up to 4 HP outing.

Jenna had been left at the altar by her now ex-fiance Mark. She was heartbroken and devastated, so she took off on her honeymoon by herself. While she was coming to terms with herself and what had all happened she met a man named Edmund. Edmund had just had a serious conversation with Jenna and learned all there is to know about her ex-fiance leaving her at the altar. There is just something about Jenna he can't get off his mind so he spends the next couple days, just being with her. One night they made love and the next morning Edmund was gone.

Two months after her one night stand with Edmund, she found out she was pregnant with his baby. She was starting to come to terms with everything that had happened prior when Edmund mysteriously shows up at her door. When she tells Edmund she is pregnant, he immediately tells her about his daughter Molly and how his ex-wife is not being a proper parent. He wants Jenna to be his wife so he can take care of their baby but he also wants her so he can get custody of Molly.

When Jenna realizes that Molly's mother is an excellent mother and her husband Edmund is just holding a grudge and wanting everyone to obey him, she leaves him. She won't take part of ruining a family and that includes her and the son that is on the way. Will Edmund let go of his grudge against his ex-wife and make a life for his part-time daughter Molly and his new wife and baby on the way?

I thought under the circumstances the book was alright. I feel if I'm being honest and comparing this to real life moments and relationships, that Edmund needs some serious counseling. The mannerisms in his character are those of an unstable man and to be honest, meeting someone like him would frighten me. I know at the end of the book all is well but based on my person, I don't think I could of taken him back. He treated her like she was nothing, that was wrong, way beyond wrong. It makes me wonder about young adults reading these type of books and if they will imprint from them and believe everything to be a-ok when you are treated like crap.

Another great book from Catherine Spencer. Edmund is totally human, multi-dimensional, and so real he jumps off the pages and into our hearts. He learns from them and is changed by his relationship with Jenna and his love for her. Edmund and Jenna's love is described with the most exciting yet tender details of their passion! The ending is just so super. You'll be moved by every page. you'll want to weep at times and then to laugh other times and finally a really superb, deeply emotional read.

Yowza, this was not great. The situation felt very forced and the hero surprisingly unflexible when it came to his ex, which is odd considering he tracked down a one night stand and married her. He was just very contradictory. The swapping view points didn't help either, made everyone seem very dumb, which doesn't make sense cause they were very accomplished hard working people. Not much love to be had either. Skip.

The H went from "nice guy" to raging control freak a-hole and spent majority of the book being a turd to his wife, ex-wife, daughter, and in-laws (the only ones who deserved it). The way he spoke to the h after they married was just downright bipolar, rude and disrespectful at times.

This was different and it was interesting reading a reason for difficulties between the hero and heroine that weren’t cheating or misunderstanding.
