4 stars for the first novella & 2 stars for the second ---makes for 3 stars overall.
This is the final book (I think) in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. It has 2 holiday novellas that cover the final team members. I have mixed feelings about the 2 novellas. Of the two, I liked Yuletide Ransom the best. The second book, Holiday Rescue Countdown, was not a favorite.
Yuletide Ransom has Veronica and Parker trying to find Veronica's missing sister. Along the way, The couple rekindles their friendship and realize that their feelings go much further. I loved the couple. I liked the mystery and the action. The HEA was sweet. Definitely read this novella.
As for Holiday Rescue Countdown, I found this one incredibly frustrating. I really didn't like the couple. There was no chemistry between the two. The identity of the bomber was very easy to figure out. I thought Dylan didn't help the situation with his niece by not explaining why he had to work. Also, she was literally at the parade where there was a bomb and she didn't understand why he couldn't take her shopping. Really? She was 15, not 3. It just annoyed me. Skip this one.
K-9 National Park Defenders was a great wrap-up to the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. This 2 in 1 book wrapped up the candidates' stories that wanted to be picked for the team. They had been all through the storyline, so I was glad this book came out.
Katy Lee's book Yuletide Ransom tells Veronica and Parker's story with them working a kidnapping.
Sharee Stover's book Holiday Rescue Countdown tells Dylan and Brandie story while tracking a crazy bomber from Dylan's past.
Both of these stories were utterly fantastic. Real page turners.
I was provided an advanced review copy of this book by the author/publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.
Sisters Veronica and Jasmin from the PNK9 Unit head to the mountains to spend some quality time away as Christmas nears. The problem is danger follows close.
I enjoyed how Katy Lee brought Veronica’s and Jasmin’s story to the canvas. The past for the sisters was not pleasant. I respect how Jasmin as the oldest felt she needed to protect Veronica from the secrets of her marriage. Action was full throttle and things weren’t as they appeared as the past came back to haunt both sisters.
Holiday Rescue Countdown Sharee Stover 4 stars
Dylan and Brandi join forces with their K-9’s to find out if the teams current nemesis is a killer from Dylan’s past or a copycat killer. Dylan and Brandi were beautifully written as they worked to find answers as well as to trust each other, not only with their backs but their hearts. The love Dylan had for his niece was endearing as the uncle learned quickly what it would be like to parent a teenager when he is a workaholic. Beautifully written from every aspect.
I received an advanced reader copy from the authors. Opinions are my own.
In the First book Katy Lee's Yuletide Ransom you meet K9 officer Veronica Eastwood and her sister has been kidnapped. Can she trust rival K9 Officer Parker Walsh to help save her sister and keep them alive. This was a fun, suspenseful book and I highly recommend it! katy-lee
In the Second book Sharee Stove's Holiday Rescue Countdown, you meet K9 officers Dylan Jeong and Brandie Weller. Both are dealing with past issues in their lives and must rely on each other to race against the clock to find the ticking Christmas parade bomb threat. Dylan realizes it is a killer from his past and he must trust Brandie to help him solve this case. I really enjoyed this book as well. Highly recommend this book!sharee-stover
I received this book as a reward for being a part of the author's launch team. This book is two stories in one. Both can be read as stand alone, although they are part of a larger series. Clean action and romance. The characters realize that they can overcome anything with God's help.
I enjoyed these 2-in-1 books. The only problem was they were not long enough. I felt both could have been longer. I was not ready for them to end! In Yuletide Ransom Veronica Eastwood's sister is kidnapped and officer Parker Walsh brings Veronica her K-9 and helps her to look for her sister. Can they find her sister and discover who is trying to harm her sister and now her? In Holiday Rescue Countdown K-9 officers Dylan Jeong and Brandie Weller are trying to find a serial bomber. They are in a race to find who the killer is and what he is targeting next besides Dylan and Brandie! Will they find the clues they are missing and stop the bomber before anyone is hurt or killer?
I received this book as an ARC with no expectation of a positive review. Dylan, Brandie and the PNK-9 group are part of a holiday parade. What happens when Dylan's past comes back bring pain to him. Now the team must do their best to stop a bomber from hurting innocent people.

K-9 NATIONAL PARK DEFENDERS by Katy Lee and Sharee Stover is the 9th book in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit Series. A fabulous 2 in 1 book with YULETIDE RANSOM by Katy Lee and HOILIDAY RESCUE COUNTDOWN by Sharee Stover.
YULETIDE RANDSOM is the fast paced, edge of your seat story of K-9 officers Veronica Eastwood and Parker Walsh and fellow computer tech officer Jasmin, who is Veronica’s older sister.
With the ten-year age difference, Veronica and Jasmin had never been close. In an effort to correct that, they took time off and went to a cabin in the North Cascades National Park to have some fun and Veronica hoped to grow closer as sisters. After going to bed early in preparation of going skiing the next morning, Veronica awoke to a noise, smelling smoke and finding her door knob hot. Worried for her sister, she continues to yell as she escaped out the window. It was only the arrival of the firetruck and being held back that prevented her from going back in to find her. Fearing the worse, it was only later that she found out that she was the only one in the cabin and that all clues led to it being Jasmin that ignited the arson fire and almost taking Veronica’s life. Knowing in her heart that was impossible, the only way to prove it was to find out what happened to her sister and who had really set the cabin on fire in hopes of killing her.
With the holiday and the department stretched thin, Veronica wasn’t really surprised when Parker arrived after her call for backup and for someone to bring her Summer, her K-9, although she was disappointed. While they had once been friends, past events when they were both vying for the same job had had him looking legally guilty. Although he had been proven innocent, it had still left bad vibes between them – at least from Veronica’s side. On the other hand, Parker’s always had an attraction towards Veronica and would do anything to help her and to keep her out of harm’s way.
Can they tuck the past behind them in the present in order to find Jasmin and prove who is behind all this? When more attempts are made on Veronica’s life, will Parker be able to keep her safe? Will finding out whodunit help to answer many questions in Veronica’s mind about why there’s always been a void in the two sister’s connection? Can old feelings between Parker and Veronica be like kindling - just needing a little time and effort to make it ignite into something more?
HOILIDAY RESCUE COUNTDOWN is the edge of your seat story that will keep you turning pages of K-9 officers Dylan Jeong and Brandie Weller.
Dylan’s past seems to have found him, as hard as he’s tried to hide and put it behind him. He must figure out the next place targeted before more innocent lives are lost or are drastically affected. He can’t even think about having more blood shed on account of his lack of action or the wrong action.
On top to this, Leah, his 15-year-old niece, had been dropped off to stay the holidays with him while her parents tried to work things out. Through it all, his main thought is that he must keep both Leah and Brandie safe at all cost – even it means distancing himself from Brandie and making Leah hate him. Brandie’s past has her questioning everything and putting distance between those she fears and distrusts. However, she’s bound and determined to prove she is more than capable to do her job and do it well. Leah on the other hand, quoted by her uncle as “privileged and spoiled” is the typical teenager and definitely not thrilled with being keep away from all the holiday events and cloistered at his hideaway home. Both make Dylan’s job even harder.
Do all the clues point to the same man behind the bombs? How can that be when he’s serving a life sentence? Will Brandie’s determination to stay on the case help or hinder finding answers? Can Brandie finally find answers about how to put her past behind her and to not have it jading her view of the present? Will the rebellion of a teenager put Leah’s life in danger? Will Brandie be able to keep her wits about her and remember little tidbits of childhood knowledge making it possible to save both herself and Leah? Will the height of danger have both Dylan and Brandie admitting to their deepest feelings?
Both YULETIDE RANSOM and HOILIDAY RESCUE COUNTDOWN are absolutely fabulous stories within themselves, but to get both stories in one book is a special treat giving one great enjoyment. They will keep you on the edge of your seat as you quickly turn pages as you try to figure out whodunit right along with the characters. The twists and turns will have you worrying about the outcome, searching for answers all while you are bound to fall in love with the characters. Katy Lee and Sharee Stover both tie their stories together with a great thread of faith giving one an underlying message of hope, love and how through faith and prayer that anything is possible in one’s life as we follow God’s path for us.
Although part of the series, this book (and both stories) can be read as a standalone book. I highly recommend K-9 NATIONAL PARK DEFENDERS and the two delightful stories within. It’s FIVE STAR reading whether during the Christmas holidays or anytime of the year!
I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Peril at Christmas awaits… in these gripping Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit novellas A Christmas skiing retreat turns treacherous when Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit officer Veronica Eastwood’s sister is kidnapped—and only rival officer Parker Walsh can help her in Katy Lee’s Yuletide Ransom. Katy Lee’s Yuletide Ransom. This is Veronica Eastwood and sister Jasmin's story. This is Parker Walsh's story. Parker arrived after her call for backup and for someone to bring her Summer, her K-9. “Jasmin?” Veronica Eastwood called out to her sister through the cabin wall. “Are you all right in there? I heard a noise.” Veronica rolled her eyes at how childish she sounded. Jasmin may be ten years older than her, but Veronica was a law-enforcement officer and shouldn’t be afraid of strange sounds in the night. She threw back the covers and put her feet in her slippers. Veronica reached into her pocket and grabbed her phone. She called 911, and a dispatcher told help was on the way, but to get away from the cabin. “Her footprints seem to wander off into the trees. We found one of her gloves. That’s why I’m calling. I need the chief to bring me my K-9 right away.” Parker glanced in the direction of Jasmin’s office—. “She’s a smart lady. I’m sure there must be a valid reason for her to do this.”

I just read Katy Lee’s “Yuletide Ransom” novella and I loved it! Veronica Eastwood and her older sister go to a Christmas skiing retreat and what was supposed to be some close sister binding, turns into a nightmare when their cabin is on flames, her sister disappears, and everything seems to point to her being the one to start the fire. Veronica knows her sister is in trouble, probably abducted, so she needs all the help she can get to find out what’s happened to her! The thing is, the person available to help her is her nemesis coworker Parker Walsh. She once misjudged him and still feels uncomfortable around him. But when he proves to be the most loyal friend and protector, can she put aside the complications of the past and let what turns into a solid friendship, grow into something more? Will they be able to find Jasmin with the help of their K-9 dog companions and rescuers? This was a fast paced read that I couldn’t put down once I started it. I loved the characters, being flawed, who made their mistakes, yet kind and compassionate. I love an Enemies to Lovers romance, so it was great to see Parker melt down Veronica’s walls with his loyalty and protective care. I just love a sweet romance when they both discover new and valuable things of each other while helping each other out and escaping great perils. The suspense was edge of your seat kind, and I was always trying to guess what was going to happen next. The dangers they faced out in the elements in the snowed National Park were an adventure to say the least. There were some nail-biting moments. Also, the villain was so awful and deceiving. My heart ached for Jasmin! But it has a happy and safe ending as expected, although not without big struggles and life-threatening risks. All in all, a wonderful romantic suspense, and perfect for this season, since it’s set near to Christmas day. I highly recommend it! I can’t wait to read Sharee Stover’s story next, which has characters from the same Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit! I’ll complete my review when I’m done with it! I received a copy of the book from the author but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
Why did K-9 officer Emily Eastwood's sister disappear from a burning cabin - while Emily was still in it? Meanwhile, is an old foe of Dylan Jeong starting another string of bombings, planning on starting the New Year with a bang?
I''ve now read five Love Inspired Suspense's multi-author series, but before now, I've only read the first eight of the series, which ends with wrapping up the stories that ran through the collection. This is the first time I've read the final book, which is a pair of novellas dealing with characters not yet finding the love of their lives.
As being part 9 of the series, do you need to read the first books before this one? Yes. If you haven't, this book will spoil the stories it took several books to develop.
As I said, it's a pair of Novellas. The first is "Yuletide Ransom," where Veronica Eastwood's sister and the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit's tech guru Jasmin is kidnapped while the girls try to have a sisterly bonding Christmas trip, and Veronica, her-former rival Parker Walsh, and their K-9s run to the rescue. The latter, "Holiday Rescue Countdown," pit Pacific Northwest K-9 officers Brandie Weller and Dylan Jeong, aided by the adorable St. Bernard Ridge, against a holiday bomber whose MO is like a former case of Jeong's - a creep who murdered his best friend and his K-9 partner.
Both of these are shorter than the other stories, but they were very enjoyable. I loved the character development as well as the plots filled with plenty of twists.
An excellent adventure book containing a duo of novels based on the Pacific Northwest K-9 series. The first Yuletide Ransom by Katy Lee gives a a continuation of the Pacific NW series featuring the characters of Veronica and her sister going on a getaway. They need to reinstate the sisterhood as they had been at odds since Jasmin's divorce. After a fire consumes the cabin they rented for the week to ski Parker from NW K-9 comes to Veronica's rescue bringing her dog Summer to help trail the missing Jasmin. In the second book, Holiday Rescue Countdown we find Brandy and the K-9 team visiting with her brother and his daughter Zoe. Many other members of the team are present when they join together on the float in the local holiday parade. An added occurence of an unauthorized float in the form of a large wrapped Christmas gift that played music and is motorized to chase Noah and his K-9 Ridge. It is a really good suspense journey from start to finish. This is #9 in the series, an excellent choice to read.
I love the K-9 series written by different writers, so I am excited about a new one. So when I had the opportunity to read K-9 National Park Defenders, a two story book by Katy Lee and Sharee Stover, I jumped at it. Both authors are relatively new for me, but they delivered.
In Yuletide Ransom by Katy, Veronica Eastwood is on a weekend getaway with her sister Jasmine when someone tries to kill her and abducts her sister. Will they both survive with the help of her Parker Walsh and the team.
In Sharee’s Holiday Rescue Countdown Dylan Jeong and his partner Ridge are the target of a bomber. He and the team race to stay ahead and capture the bomber before he follows through with his plan.
Loved the book but I haven’t had the opportunity to read the preceding books so there were some spoilers for me. However, not enough to keep me from reading the others.
I received a complimentary copy and have reviewed it voluntarily.
First up in this epic two books in one, we have Katy Lee's book Yuletide Random, Veronica Eastwood and her sister Jasmin go on a sister's Christmas ski retreat, but then Jasmin vanishes. It appears she has been kidnapped. Can Parker Walsh, Veronica's rival from PNK9 help her find her sister? Was she kidnapped? Or is she a criminal on the lam? Using their K-9's Summer and Rosie to help track Jasmin's scent they hope to find her quickly. In the second book, Holiday Rescue Countdown, Sharee Stover has Dylan Jeong and Brandie Weller racing against the clock to find a bomber, who places explosives in Christmas parades and other events. Using Star, a bomb sniffing K-9, can they stop the bomber before he ends their lives, as well as everyone else's at the biggest event of the Christmas season? Who is the killer from Dylan's past? The bomber? A rogue gunman? A psychopathic slasher? Grab this book today and find out how they end.
In Yuletide Ransom, when Veronica Eastwood's older sister Jasmin is kidnapped while they are on a girls' weekend getaway, rival officer Parker Walsh comes to assist Veronica find Jasmin. Jasmin, as the older sister, does her best to protect her younger sister from the secrets of her marriage that Jasmin only knows about until she is abducted. This story had a great plot line and kept me flipping the pages until the end. In Holiday Rescue Countdown, the team has to track down a bomber or a copycat bomber from Dylan Jeong's past. Dylan is watching his teen niece for a while and is doing his best to parent her while working on the case. Brandi is struggling with anger and frustration as the people she thought were her parents had actually kidnapped her and an early age and recently discovered and reconnected with her biological family. Holiday Rescue Countdown has danger, intrigue, and twists and turns.
This duo of novellas was okay. It was more K-9 than National Park. It was set in Washington, but other than a few city names, the setting didn't play a big role in the story.
The characters were fine. It's hard to go in depth in a novella, so they felt a little one- dimensional, but this is obviously part of a series and not the first book, so maybe if I'd read them all, I would feel differently about the characters.
The dogs were great. I would have enjoyed more about the dogs. And, while it's always fun to find a character with my name in a book, this is the first time that character has been a dog! Of course, she was a beautiful and talented member of the team! 😄
The second novella seemed to make a few leaps in logic that didn't seem reasonable based on the nature of the evidence.
Both stories take place during the Christmas season, but I wouldn't describe either of them as "Christmassy."
What's better than one K-9 story? Two is better, of course! This is an awesome 2-in-1 book which features members of the Pacific Northwest K-9 unit and both occur during the Christmas season. These are both stand-alone stories but they are also the perfect "cherry on top" for the Pacific Northwest K-9 series. Katy Lee's story involves a kidnapping and Sharee Stover's story has a Christmas bomber. Both have great characters, lots of suspense and mystery, and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing! Oh, and did I mention - dogs??!! I received an advance copy from the authors but all opinions are my own.
I absolutely love this two in one book by Katy Lee and Sharee Stover. It's book nine in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. Both stories are full of exciting, heart stopping suspense. I love the wonderful characters. In Yuletide Ransom Veronica Eastwood and rival Parker Walsh work together to try to locate her kidnapped sister. In Holiday Rescue Countdown Dylan Jeong and Brandie Weller are in a race against time, to find a bomb at a Christmas parade. A must read for sure. I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Veronica and her sister Jasmin had gone to the North Cascades National Park for a girl's ski weekend. Veronica wakes up to find their cabin on fire and Jasmin missing. Veronica calls for help but the only one available is rival Parker.
What had Jasmin gotten involved in and could they rescue her in time? This is a Christmas story, but also one of second chances and unconditional love.
Preorder your copy to find out what happens to Jasmin, Veronica and Parker.
Two great stories that are hard to put down. The first story involves Veronica and Parker navigating a dangerous snowy park looking for her sister. Lots of suspense and peril. Once you find out who the culprit is you will be surprised. The second story has Brandie and Dylan, coworkers, searching for a bomber whose focus is on Dylan and the people he cares about. Several hair raising situations represent themselves before they catch the killer. Both stories have a little romance between the characters with a happy ending.
This two-in-one contains double the suspense with two K-9 thrillers featuring the Pacific Northwest unit set in the wintry weather. Both stories are well written, with a great storyline and characters. The riveting action, danger, twists and turns will keep you turning the pages. This is only two of the stories in the Pacific Northwest K-9 unit, which will make you want to read the other stories in the series. These stories are amazing with all the characters, including the K-9’s. Grab your copy today.
This was such a great book to read, especially during the winter months. It was composed of two novellas, so in the busy holiday season, I was able to find time to read them one at a time versus having to set down a longer book due to time contraints. Both stories follow the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit and I love how they are a close knit family. Each member is one that I want to hear more about! The dogs are also fun, loveable, and heroes. Grab this book! You won't regret it. I received a copy of this book from one of the authors. All opinions within this review are my own.
I enjoyed this two story wrap-up of the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. Katy Lee’s “Yuletide Ransom,” was the solving of Veronica Eastwood’s sister’s kidnapping. Sharee Stover’s “Holiday Rescue Countdown,” starts with a happy parade, but soon has a bomb interrupting the festivities. Dylan Jeong ‘s past catches up with him. It has has the the K-9 officers scrambling to find the bomber before he can inflict death and destruction. Both stories are full of action and danger, and “man’s best friend” helps to take down the bad guys!
