Texas Two-Step

Rate this book
It takes two to tango, but three to do the two-step with these Texas cowboys…

Londoner Maryann Morrissy finds the companionship she's missing by making friends on the Internet with fellow rodeo fans in the States. Her fiancé Robert doesn't understand her new obsession. His mocking is just one more thing in a long list that convinces Maryann he's not the man for her. Perfect timing, because Maryann is flying to Texas where two rodeo cowboys are waiting to show her the ropes.

Annoyed he has to pick up his sister's British online buddy from the airport, tie-down roper Wes Griffin drags his best friend Shooter with him. Misery loves company until Wes sees Maryann get off the plane. When her sexy accent makes his heart do the two-step, Wes begins to wish he'd kept Maryann all to himself because Shooter is just as intrigued.

After the nasty end to Maryann’s engagement, she's ready to take both cowboys on, but is Wes willing to share?

Blackraven’s Review:

Texas Two-Step by Cat Johnson is a humorous, yet endearing story about a woman who decides to embrace life and make decisions regarding her own fate after she discovers that her fiance has been cheating on her.

Maryann Morissy has been doing what everyone else wants since she can remember, even if it bored her to tears and left her completely lonely and wanting. Wanting for what you might ask? How about passion, uninhibited sex, not with one but two sexy American cowboys, and a chance to finally pursue her own dreams in life, which is exactly what happens when she travels to Texas for a rodeo and to visit her internet friend, Ellen. Fortunately, a rodeo and a new friend isn’t all Maryann discovers. She also discovers Ellen’s sexy-as-sin brother Wes and his best friend Shooter who are guaranteed to make any woman’s panties wet.

These two cowboys exude sex appeal and they definitely know how to treat a woman because in one night these handsome devils have Maryann facing all of the problems in her life and dealing with them in a matter of fact manner. In addition, these two ruggedly handsome men bring out the passion and lust in Maryann that’s been dormant for two years. What will happen when these three set the bed sheets on fire doing the Texas Two-Step.

Cat Johnson has written a wonderful story about a woman coming into her own as she leaves her country behind to embark on a journey that will change her life forever. Although this story is short at only 60 pages, Ms. Johnson has created a plot that has depth and characters that are three-dimensional. You can’t help but feel Maryann’s pain and cheer her own when she gains enough confidence to confront her wanker of a fiance and kick him to the curb. I personally said “You Go Girl!” Moreover, the level of kindness, tenderness and common decency that Wes and Shooter bestow on Maryann simply makes me remember why I love cowboys so much.

If you’re looking for a heartfelt story that’s full of humor, scorching hot sex, a fiesty Brit, and two sexy cowboys who come together to burn up your ereader as they embrace the sexual tension emanating between them by partaking in Texas’ famous Two-Step, then pick up a copy of Cat Johnson’s Texas Two-Step, immediately. I promise that you won’t be sorry.

3.5 Stars!
This book is a very quick read of about 60 pages. I guess I'd call it a novelette. In the four years that have passed since Cat Johnson wrote this, her writing style has improved and developed in my opinion. I say this honestly because I am a big fan of her books. I enjoyed this quick read about a woman from London named Maryann who finds herself visiting her online friend in Texas. This is where she meets two hot Cowboys, Wes and Shooter. Both men are into her but who will she choose? As far as content, conflict and angst go, there wasn't any really. However I thought this was a sweet, sexy story with a HEA.

Too short and ended quick, didn't really get a background with the characters, so I'm guessing she chose Wes in the end. Sex scenes were quick as hell also.

This is a short read from Cat Johnson but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the tale! Maryam is living in London in a dead-end relationship with a job that is going nowhere. After chatting to rodeo fans in the US on the internet she decides to visit Texas to see exactly what it is she is missing. En route she finds out that the boyfriend is a loser (she refers to him as a "Wanker" at one point which made me chuckle....a seriously under-used word in literature) and breaks ties with him and lands in the USA free and single. A series of events means that the person who meets her at the airport isn't the woman she has been chatting to, but her brother Wes and his friend Shooter. They take her out, get her blind drunk and what results is a night that she never imagined herself being part of!

I really enjoyed this short read (it was less that 50 pages) I wish it was longer (I know....greedy old me!) because I would have liked to learn more about Shooter and Wes, but it was enough to leave me wanting more! The plot was fluffy but, in this short of a read, there was no way that any major developments were going to happen. The chemistry between the three of them was very well written and the sex scenes were steamy enough to keep me happy (I had to look up pigging string after this book!) The characters were very animated and I liked all three of them, but my favourite was definitely Shooter. I'm always a sucker for a charming lothario and this buckle-bunnny collector will (and I have this on good authority) feature in future books.

All in all this is a very solid 4 star story. I recommend Cat Johnson to anyone and this is a lovely little taster of her writing and style of characters. Definitely a good buy :)

Although this book is only around 60 pages long Cat Johnson does a good job of making a steamy love story between 3 people.

You meet Maryanne at the beginning of this short story and automatically like her, she kind and caring, and unfortunately, engaged to an UBER-dickhead! Deciding that she needs to get away for a little while she plans to leave London to go visit her friend in Texas. That's where she meets Wes and Shooter, two drop dead sexy cowboys.

Wes has an instant attraction to Maryanne, the bad news is... so does Shooter. At first I wasn't sure at first which cowboy I wanted Maryanne to end up with but that quickly changed when I discovered how sweet Wes was. This is a quick story that is sure to leave you wanting more. Good thing Ms. Johnson wrote a sequel. :)

This is another very readable, downright enjoyable short story from Cat Johnson who has given readers many stories to enjoy. This is about a budding relationship based on a long-term internet conversation that went right with people who really were who they claimed, and who helped a hurting woman find a new path for her life. Just a really good read!

This one was fun; made me think of my online friends. It was also a quick read. I really liked Wes and Shooter. This is the first one by this author I've read, but I have some others in my TBR and I am hoping they're longer. ;o)
