This book teaches a great lesson to children, not only in their lives at home, but in the classroom as well. They need to know that even if they do mess up, or even if they aren't perfect, you will still love them and accept them into your class.

Expectations management for children. How parents will and won't respond to what their children do wrong, and what it means. Pretty accurate for our house.

This book honestly expresses a parent’s initial emotional reaction to her child’s bad act while reiterating that the parent still loves the child. Therefore, when the little girl reveals that she broke her mother’s favorite vase but she didn’t mean to because it was an accident, the mother says, “I love you so much I’d love you if you did mean to and it wasn’t an accident. But I also might be mad and yell things like ‘I told you a thousand times!’ and ‘This is the last straw!’ and ‘I’ve had it with your disobeying!’ and send you to your room with no dessert. and cry a little and pick up the pieces.”. This is one of those books that really "gets" parenting.
