I think the author wrote this book to tell young readers about Fidel Castro. The author of this book explains to the reader about how Fidel grew up and where he came from. Fidel was born in 1926, in college he studied revolutionary polotics. In 1953 Castro and a small group of his followers attacked a police barrack hopeing to spark an uprising against the current dicatorship of Cuba. The dictator of Cuba at the time Castro and his followers attacked the police barrack was Fulgencio Batista. Fidels reolutionary goverment inproved health care, education and during his revolution their wasn't much corruption either. Castro supported communist movements in Latin America and Africa. The U.S. didn' support what Castro was doing when he was backing communist uprisings. When Fidel Castro made a announcement saying Cuba was a communist state America was stunned.
