The illustrations are vibrant and the selected poems are fun. There are even a few I had never read before. Not all of the verses are present for each poem, but it is enough to get the child acquainted with Mother Goose rhymes.

Little Boy Blue found the Farmer in the Dell to watch over his dairy cows and his sheep while he was gone so that he’d keep an uh, you have to watch them every minute, you know.

This book is filled with classic children's rhymes paired with beautiful illustrations for each rhyme. The poems can be investigated for word families individually in the classroom.

ELL Connection: Nursery rhymes are great for ELLs to see relations in word families and see words being manipulated. An extension to this book may be having the students come up with their own rhyming sentences if they are strong enough in the english language or maybe acting out a nursery rhyme together and reciting the lines.
