This is a great beginner's guide to scrapbooking. When I started, I didn't have such a guide and so there was a lot of time trying to collect information on the basics. This beautiful hardcover book has all sorts of great tips to get you started, in a combination of well-formatted text and full color pictures. Everything is covered, from types of pens and other tools to journaling content to organizing and cropping photos, and more. There are a lot of page examples with captions that explain how the page can be recreated.
i bought this back in my Stanford days of FOPAL for $2, but I just now managed to go through it. For the most part I found the scrapbook pages to be MUCH too busy and I actually felt physically tired after looking through the pictures. In all honesty, I didn't read one word because I mostly just wanted something to give me layout ideas, but this was way over-the-top for me. That being said, I did find a couple of examples I would be willing to emulate.
A good resource to have in your library. However, I agree with a fellow reviewer, some layouts were just too busy and complicated. There is cost involved with getting multiple printouts of various sizes and development. Other than that, not too bad. Save enough room on the shelf 'cuz it's a big book.
While most of the layouts are not my particular style, there are a lot of great ideas that can be incorporated into any layout. I've learned a lot and expanded my ability to look at photos in a new way. I especially enjoyed the chapters under "Artistic Cropping Techniques". A good book for your library; a useful resource.
