This volume of Duarte Barbosa is not really a book of travels but rather and itinerary, or descriptions of countries. It gives ample details of the trade supplies and water of the various sea ports mentioned in it. It contains many historical details such as the account of Diu, the taking of Hormuz, the founding of the Indian ships date this narrative to the year 1514. Translated from Spanish by Stanley H.E.J.
I read this text months ago, I just forgot to update my goodreads status on the book and give it a review. That being said, I got the text to read because I knew it contained some reference on female soldiers in the armies of the Mutapa empire. However, I got to know about a lot more intriguing things on civilisations that thrived in not just East Africa in the early modern area, but also in Arabia and Asia (especially the subcontinent).
