She lived in Kent, Wimbledon, and Yorkshire. She won numerous literary awards, including the Whitbread Award twice. She was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours.
LFL find. A little story, almost a fable. For readers in-between the mostly light stories of Dick King-Smith and the adult tomes by James Herriot. British, but the vocabulary is both interesting and defined in text.
