Here are three thousand miles of adventure, written with a sensitive appreciation of God s care for his people, and of young people s love for adventure.
Unlike most historical fiction, Voyage to Freedom successfully manages to get out the main point, which was that life was miserable on the Mayflower. This is the best historical fiction I have ever read. P.S. I hate historical fiction.
This is a shorter historic-fictional novel put out by Banner of Truth. One of the good reminders of this book is a look at just how far the men and women on the mayflower were willing to go to simply worship God in the manner that they believed God commanded us to worship Him. Too many supposed Christians today have no theology of worship whatsoever, or don't care enough to sacrifice something (let alone everything) in order to Worship God biblically.
Good book and suitable for children to visualize the voyage. Disappointed with the blending of the seaman who died with William Butten. Not necessary to defame Butten when the unnamed sailor could have been given a name.
I will never read this book again or assign it to a child. It was so repetitive and overly moralistic. We finished it out of sheer will and determination not out of enjoyment.
