Jody Fisher gives a series of routines of single note exercises and chord etudes. There are many classic exercises in the book and using chords as well as single notes is a nice change from many rock technique exercise books. That being said certain things will cause excess tension such as one of the first exercises where Fischer tells you to apply as much pressure as possible to inactive fingers as you try to move one finger to another string. You also have do this for an extended period of time. This has a high possibility to cause injury. I have seen the opposite advice of keeping the inactive fingers relaxed in other method books and from other respected players. I would definitely only use this book with the supervision of a guitar teacher.
