I actually read the 2009 edition. Extremely helpful information, sample itineraries, suggested sights and walks and activities. Hardly any pictures, which was frustrating. Still, if you're looking to plan a trip, you can't go wrong with a Frommer's for info and an Eyewitness Travel book for pics.

Bought this in 1996, didn't get to England until 2007. Solid travel manual, but no frills... cool pix, colorful maps, and blowouts of interesting facts are to be found elsewhere.
