Spruce the moose is experiencing great difficulty in coping with his antlers--he cannot sleep, he knocks over his own birdfeeders, and he gets stuck in a doorway during a friend's birthday party.
Cute little story about a moose who's antlers get in the way of everything he does and he can't help but to hate his antlers. He gets trapped in doorways, clotheslines, tree branches, etc. Then, he has a really good day while making a present for his friends birthday party until just as he is about to finish, his antlers mess up everything... again. Once he gets to the party, everything seems to be going ok until his antlers get stuck in the doorway and his friends band together to free Spruce the moose and ensure him that he hasn't ruined the party.
Spruce the Moose Cuts Loose is a story of a moose that didn't lose his antlers at mid-winter as usual and as they grew and grew he had many problems getting stuck, couldn't sleep and they were just in the way. The science of moose shedding its antlers could be a lesson to add when a parent or teacher read the story to young children. The book also shows friendship and how friends accept each other. My preschool class loves Spruce the Moose Cuts Loose.
I am confused every single time I read this book because I’m not sure which character matches up with which character in the illustrations. Even so, my kids enjoy this story.
