I moved to Folly Beach, SC just a few months ago. Since moving, my bookshelves have become crowded with jars of shells! I can't resist their colors and shapes! I really love this book, as I've been using it to identify the shells I've collected and the wildlife I've seen. I checked it out from the library, but I'm probably going to buy a copy to keep for my own reference. I love the short, easy descriptions and the beautiful full-color pictures. I'd recommend this book instead of the smaller "Shells" book by the same authors because this one includes important creatures like starfish and sand dollars!

Beautifully photographed more in depth book about seashells than the prior book good descriptions of the types of shelves: gastropods, cephalopods, five valves and fossil shells are well described, along with maps of the coastline that suggest places to find them very interesting!

Not a bad book for the casual beachcomber. Great for kids. Limited species coverage but does hit most of the common.
