This is the chilling and unforgettable story of the sensational trial, unjust conviction, and lynching of Leo M. Frank for the murder of his thirteen-year-old employee Mary Phagan. In the heated atmosphere of fear and anti-Semitism surrounding the murder, a mob dragged Frank from his prison cell and executed him.
A general overview without being lengthy. The writing was difficult to follow and sometimes several thoughts were strung together in the same paragraph without being connected at all. A big issue was that some of the more shocking or sensational details or assertions were not footnoted so it was impossible to ascertain the primary source. I was left with many questions and ultimately consulted the Georgia and US Supreme Court opinions for a more cohesive statement of facts. Still, I think the overarching themes and broad strokes were covered appropriately. I would rate this one solidly middle of the pack with three stars.
