Illustrated in full colour by Mark Bergin, and including cutaways, a new title in the INSIDE STORY series, which describes all aspects of life in a Viking town. Suitable for the National Curriculum.
Fiona Macdonald studied history at Cambridge University and at the University of East Anglia. She has taught in schools, adult education and university, and is the author of numerous books for children on historical topics.
This book shows that there's more of Viking other than plundering another settlement. I can say the life of Viking is pretty brutal for the weak people (elderly and babies!). This book has nice info about the typical Viking town, what is the daily chore of each member of society, and how they created their ships (there are many types of ships). But still, I want more, a lot more. It's mentioned that they created enclaves in other countries and I want to know about that too. Overall, I think this book is a great introduction to the topic with very helpful illustrations.
