Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet by Dani Collins is a contemporary romance set during the Christmas season. This one is a second chance romance with the couple having a background together.
Kristen Benz has taken a temporary job over the holidays at the Mistletoe Chalet and has been enjoying herself and settling into her roll with even helping the new boss’ daughter plan a vow renewal for her parents. What Kristen never expected in her new job was to have Finn Garrett walk through the door.
Finn and Kristen had dated in high school once talking about a future together until their goals separated them. When Finn hears that Kristen is working at the Mistletoe Chalet for Christmas he decides to stop by and check on her but never expected to rekindle their romance.
Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet is a novella length read but the author crammed a lot into the shorter length with this one. There is a lot going on with other characters in the story so the main couple may seem a bit fast paced to some but with a history between them I was willing to overlook the faster pace and actually enjoyed the story.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet is a cute second chance Christmas romance about childhood sweethearts coming back together. This story is full of fun characters, secret Christmas presents, and surprises. Mistletoe Chalet had me itching for a holiday getaway with laughter, board games, snow, and romance.
If there had been more romance between Kristen and Finn throughout the story, I believe I would have enjoyed this book even more and given it a perfect rating. Even without the extra sprinkle of swoon, I still recommend this story for anyone wanting a cute, quick Christmas story.
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you're looking for a really feel good festive read, grab yourself a copy of this delightful second chance romance from Dani Collins.
Kristen Benz has taken a temporary job at Mistletoe Chalet, quickly fitting in with the family, helping them get ready for the approaching festive season and helping their daughter plan a marriage vow renewal for her parents - without them knowing!
When her high school sweetheart unexpectedly stops to visit and their attraction is still as strong but can they trust their love and each other this time? There are plenty of twists and turns in this second chance romance but it just feels so right that Finn and Kristen should get back together again. There are many obstacles to be overcome before this can happen but the story of it makes lovely reading and I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into this snowbound location to read about the events, drama and love during their Christmas build up and celebrations.
I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
Finn Garrett and Kristen Benz are the stars of a wonderfully written, emotional, sweet and full of heart story which I absolutely adored. Dani Collins weaves such beautiful stories and I've said many times that if I even had the ability to string a sentence together to make create a spellbinding tale, I would want to write like Dani. The characters are relateable and there is enough passion that shines thru the writing that you truly wish you were one of the characters. Loved it!
WEDDING AT MISTLETOE CHALET by author Dani Collins is a November 2018 release by Tule Publishing.
Kristen Benz takes on a temporary job at Mistletoe Chalet as she was at a loose end during the Christmas holidays. But she was enjoying her stay there and loved working with the Mistletoe Chalet owners. Then she had a surprise visit from her high school sweetheart and neighbor, Finn Garrett.
Finn was on his way home for the Christmas breaks when he does a detour to check in on Kristen. He found out from his mum that she was working at Mistletoe Chalet as no one was at her house for Christmas. Finn just wanted to make sure that she was okay on her own. Yet reaching Mistletoe Chalet, he fast became involved with everyone there. And pitches in to help out wherever needed when they become snow-bound. He also discovers the delight of rekindling his attraction with Kristen. And romance bloomed once again between them amid the Christmas magic.

++ Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review ++ 4.5 stars. A quote: "She challenged him and commiserated with him and sometimes she had looked to him for reassurance or advice, making him feel protective and reliable and strong. She made him feel good about who he was and confident in who he could be." (Loc. 1829, quote from ARC) Another lovely story by Dani Collins, “Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet” is an arresting tale about deep and lasting relationships, with lovable and unique characters. Blending the past and the present, a consolidated marriage and strong bonds within and outside blood ties and the steady yet anguishing rekindling of an old love, the story is heartwarming and sweet, full of love and humor. Kristen’s and Finn path isn’t an easy one but as we read about their journey, we know everything will be fine for them. I loved how the main characters changed and matured and how they handled the roadblocks on their relationship. Set in a beautiful snowy landscape, “Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet” also displays a cast of lively and believable supporting characters. I did very much enjoy this sweet romance MS Collins has bought the characters to life on the pages and had me feeling very Christmassy as Kristen and Finn reignite the love that has been there all along, of course they are helped along by Sarah, Wendy and Ted, yes this is a story that has all of the feels for a beautiful romance one that left me smiling and feeling very happy and is one that I would highly recommend, thank you MS Collins.
5 star review of Wedding At Mistletoe Chalet by Dani Collins
What's not to love? It's the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is centered around Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate life.
This was a fun, quirky, fast sweetly romantic read and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
At a crossroads, Kristen Benz accepts a temporary job at Mistletoe Chalet. When her high school sweetheart Finn Garrett turns up could this be the re start of their previous relationship?
Will the magic of Christmas and a young matchmaker bring Kristen and Finn together?
Such was Ms. Collin’s descriptive style of writing, I really felt as though I was transported to a beautiful chalet in the mountains.
A beautiful love story full of hopes and dreams that certainly got me in the holiday spirit.
Oh, I just loved this! I didn’t know anything about this author going in, but i’m so glad that adorable cover drew me in. I liked both Finn and Kristen. They were mature, thoughtful adults who didn’t rush to blame each other. This actually reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie which, from me, is high praise indeed. I’ll definitely be looking up this author’s backlist. I highly recommend!
This is a wonderful second chance romance filled with holiday magic as Kristen Benz and Finn Garrett are reunited. Kristen is working at a B&B on a temporary basis and Finn is home for the holidays. When Finn learns Kristen is nearby he decides to drive up and see her and apologize for the way he handled things those many years ago. When he gets trapped at the B&B by weather they have no choice but to spend time together. Both Kristen and Finn get caught up in the holiday fun and soon realize the attraction between them is still there. Will they find a holiday miracle and find their way back to each other?
I voluntarily read a advanced reader's copy of this book for a honest opinion
Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet by Dani Collins. A possible second chance at romance storyline. I enjoyed the storyline, characters and dialogue. I'll look forward to reading more by this author.
Dani Collins is a hugely talented author and her latest release, Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet is a testament to the fact. A second-chance love story, Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet is packed with memorable characters, lots of beautiful emotion and sweet, sweet romance. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a feel-good holiday read!
Ms. Collins writes a lovely romance about Kristen Benz and Finn Garret that proves love can survive time and distance. Kristen and Finn were an item until he ended it when he decided to be a doctor. Kristen is working a few weeks at the mountain chalet to help adorable twelve year old Sarah plan the surprise second wedding for her father and stepmother. Imagine her surprise when she gets a visit from Finn while he is in town before finishing his residency. Old feelings come back to him as he remembers about the past he had with Kristen. Was this just a stop to see an old flame or is it the visit that ignites the flame that never was extinguished. A truly lovely story about the endurance of love.

Can a matchmaking tween and the magic of Mistletoe Chalet spark the happily ever after that eluded them in the past? This is Kristen Benz and Finn Garrett's story. Kristen Benz arrived at Mistletoe Chalet and knew she was in danger of falling in love. She shouldered her small bag as she closed the door on her sturdy hatchback, ears stinging and nose pinching at the brisk air that accosted her. But the cold didn’t matter. Everything was so pretty! Nestled against a mountainside, guarded by craggy, muscled peaks of granite, the chalet was everything she wanted a mountain lodge to be. It sprawled in gabled wings from an A-frame front, its roof jutting in sharp angles toward the sky, like the mountaintops surrounding it. River-rock walls gave it a sense of reliable permanence while accents of natural wood formed crossbeams and railed balconies. After years of medical school, Finn Garrett has promised his parents he’ll be home for the holidays. His detour to see his first love is supposed to provide closure, not rekindle their long-ago romance. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book." I highly recommend reading. A contemporary sweet romance set during the Christmas season at Mistletoe Chalet is a slow read with very descriptive parts. A second chance to find love for Finn and Kristen after their budding summer romance at the end of Kristen senior year of high school. I read and finished this book but did find it to be missing something for me, I think it was just so full of sweet and niceness it as sometimes lost my interest a bit. The romance between Kristen and Finn was not the main storyline I got from reading this book, it was more about friendship and family with new beginnings. I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review of it. The secondary characters were wonderful and Sarah just made the book for me. The author had me feeling the cold and snow in this beautiful setting of the Chalet. This is the first book by this author I have read. Kristen has taken a temporary job during her Christmas holidays due to her parents winning a cruise holiday over the Christmas New Year period. She finds the Mistletoe Chalet to be a very quaint hotel and the family that run it was very friendly and loving towards her. Finn has finally got the Christmas holidays off from his very busy schedule of medical school and internship to go home for Christmas. After a quick stop to spend some time with some friends she finds out that Kristen is working a temporary job away and won't be home for Christmas. Finn and Kristen have been neighbours all through their childhood, with Finn’s best friend being Kristen’s brother. What will happen when Finn decides to take a detour on the way home to see Kristen after all these years? Can Kristen and Sarah fulfil Sarah Christmas gift to her parents?
Sometimes we make the wrong decisions for what seems like the right reason, at the time. Once Kristen and Finn were students, young, in love, with a bright future ahead of them. Then Finn made a choice for them both – one that he felt was necessary but left so many regrets and feelings still alive for them both. Now, years later, Finn is months away from completing his career choice, Kristen is working at the Mistletoe Chalet temporarily over the Christmas break while she makes some career decisions of her own… and their worlds are about to cross once again. Maybe with a better outcome this time around.
Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet is packed full of Christmas magic, intriguing DIY projects, mouthwatering cookies, a lot of secondary characters and a matchmaking tween who not only wants to pull of the surprise of a life time for her parents but maybe get Finn and Kristen back where they belong, together. There is a lot going on in this story, yet at the heart of it are two people who never really let go of the love they once had and now get the chance to see if it really is the forever kind of love they both are believing in. I enjoyed everything about this story, from the merrily decorated chalet, to the snowed in atmosphere, to one adorable tween with a plan, to Kristen and Finn discovering that love can work if you give it a chance. If you’re in the mood for a very good Christmas Romance then this is one I’d happily recommend.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Kristen Benz is taking some time away from her career to make some decisions about her future. She took a temporary job at the Mistletoe Chalet in Montana over the holidays to clear her mind and to decide what she really wants for her future. There is no need to go home for Christmas because her family will not be there. Her first and only love's family will be and she can't bear to relive the hurt and heartbreak of her first love.
Finn Garrett is almost finished with his medical residency. He is heading home to spend Christmas with his parents in Montana but as he heads toward home, he begins to think of the sacrifices he has made to become a doctor. One of the biggest sacrifices was giving up Kristen, his first real love. He did it for her but he has never found another woman to match what he felt with Kristen. He learns that she is working temporarily at the Mistletoe Chalet, which is on his drive home, she he decides to stop there to apologize and make sure she is ok. He doesn't expect to have those old feelings rekindled. He ends up spending several days with her and the others at the Chalet. He has to decide what he really wants and if Kristen can be a part of that life. Is it possible to mend those broken feelings and want more? Is it possible to attain or will his being a doctor always require greater sacrifice and cause him to give up on the family life he really wants?
I loved this book. It was well written and proceeded at a nice pace. The story was sweet and free from sex and vulgarity. It was the perfect holiday romance. I was given an arc copy of this book by NetGalley and I willingly
Wedding At Mistletoe Chalet has been a sweet, tender and heartwarming Christmas story filled with love of family and friends as much romantic love. The setting is a beautifully crafted log cabin gingerbread house complete with gable windows set into its pitched roof and plenty of snow to set the scene. Add the holly and the mistletoe and you have a perfect setting for a surprise Christmas wedding, though this is not the main story here. Kristen grew up next door to Finn and dated him briefly years earlier before Finn broke off with her. She’s never forgotten him though and it turns out he’s never forgotten her either. Having Finn drop in to visit her at Mistletoe Chalet while on his way home for Christmas has Kristen confused as to his motives. Thankfully a heavy snowfall ensures Finn has enough time for them both to rediscover why each is special to the other. I loved these two - both are warm, caring and considerate people clearly willing to give and take to fit in with others. While I really enjoyed watching Kristen and Finn rediscover and build on the feelings they had for each other, the star of this story in my opinion is twelve year-old Sarah, the daughter of chalet owner Ted. This little girl claimed the page every time she made an appearance, adding her own sparkle to what was already a delightful Christmas romance.
Dani Collins penned a sweet, clean story in Wedding At Mistetoe Chalet. Kristen is a hotel manager who takes a bussman's holiday and works for an overworked ski lodge owner during her Christmas break from her job in Oregon. Finn Garrrett is an old beau and now that he's less than 3 months away from completing his medical residency, he learns of her plans and he executes a plan to win her back, dropping in on her 3 days before Christmas Eve.
The story was sweet, but opened with a dizzying catalogue of of character names and backstory about the inn owners. I don't recall much of a descriptions of either hero or heroine & although I realize vague character description is the current trend, I don't like it. I especially don't like when the cover hints that I might be reading an interracial romance, but see no evidence of that inside the book.
Kristen quickly gets involved with her temporary employers lives and since she and Finn don't see each other for the first time until the story is 1/3 over, and because I really didn't feel like Finn & Kristen were the most important thing going on, I'd class the story more Women's Fiction than romance.
It's an okay read, but I can't give it more than 3 stars.
3.75 stars. I liked this clean book, the secondary characters were amusing and there were some truly funny moments and dialogue in the story. However, I found the start of the book a bit of an info dump about the chalet and the family who run it, and the guests. We are walked through some scenes that really needed to be edited to be shorter (eg. we don't need to know the whole room cleaning routine) so what should have been summed up in a few paragraphs became a couple of chapters long. I found the attention just wasn't focused enough on the H&h; I wish I had a little better sense of them, since I liked what I did read about them. I think that DC did a good job of showing how they have a great friendship and know each other so well, but the chemistry was a little lack luster. I should clarify that I have no issues with clean romances, but I do think kissing can and probably should be in the novel, it helps develop some of the chemistry and connection. I've enjoyed many of DC's books this one is a little slower paced and less drama them most of her books (that I've read at least). Overall, good, cute and funny book that with a little extra focus on the H&h would have been a great story. *I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Such a sweet & touching read! The latest from Dani Collins takes us into a magical Christmas infused story. The main character reconnects with her first love, but behind the scenes she's helping the daughter of her boss plan a surprise for her parents that brings a really touching sentiment to the story line. It's fast paced, really sincere and sweet and just an overall joy to read!
Kristen Benz finds herself without plans for the holidays at the last minute, but lucks into finding a temporary job at a lovely ski chalet. She shows up and falls in love with the homey atmosphere and her friendly bosses. She's knee deep into the joy of Christmas in no time as she decorates, wraps presents, bakes cookies and helps their daughter plan a surprise behind the scenes!
Finn Garrett is almost done with his grueling residency, and he's finally making it home for Christmas this year, but he hears from his Mom that Kristen is at this ski chalet and decides to stop by on his way home. It's been a few years since he broke up with her because of his grueling med school schedule, but he's never let her get too far out of his mind. He's thinking seeing each other will finally give them that closure they didn't get, but seeing her again just reminds him of all the things he loved about her!
Beautiful, sweet story about getting a second chance with the one that got away. Finn & Kristen have a long history but it’s the end of the relationship that they both regret. Finn decided after an injury that set him on a new path in college, that he couldn’t ask Kristen to uproot her life or make her wait until he was settled in his, so he broke up with her. Eight yrs later he looks her up when he finds out she’s not going home for Christmas but working at a ski lodge. Kristen takes on a new challenge looking to see if it’s what she might want to do next. Working at a family run lodge she meets a wonderful family, they treat as family & she gets a surprise visit from her past that has her hoping for a future like her new friends. The character of Sarah was a wonderful addition to the story with her abundance of love for her father & step-mom & her creative ideas for a wonderful Christmas gift for her entire family. She was also a great matchmaker pushing Finn & Kristen closer together. Definitely recommend. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the publisher through Net Galley.
Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet is written by Dani Collins and published by Tule Publishing. This novel is set in Montana where Kristen Benz is making a career change to work in a smaller hotel and is happy to take the short term job at Mistletoe Chalet to fill in the gap. She is full of Christmas spirit, helping her employers’ daughter, Sarah, wrap presents and the renewal of Sarah’s parents’ wedding vows. Finn Garrett, Kirsten’s first Love, has returned after years studying at medical school. His detour to see Kirsten is supposed to find him closure from his first love. A meddling tween coupled with magical sparkle of Christmas Chalet help the pair find love that has eluded them in the past?
This is a gentle Christmas romance where love is rekindled and old sticking blocks to a successful romance are hashed out when the two main characters get snowed in. There aren’t any hot sex scenes or dramatic revelations, instead the novel focuses on the magic of Christmas, a second chance at love and an interfering tween.
I received this book via Netgalley and Tule Publishing in exchange for a honest review. I am a #Netgalley
I am a sucker for Christmas stories. When this ARC was offered, I immediately jumped at the opportunity.
I loved the description and details about the Mistletoe Chalet - it is definitely a place that I would love to visit. Wendy, Ted, and Sarah were the perfect characters for Kristen to meet when she was looking for a change of pace. Kristen finds exactly what she is looking for in their quaint resort.
When Finn and Kristen finally encounter each other, it is sweet and lovely. You can tell right from the beginning that there is still chemistry there, even if they both want to deny it. I loved learning about their past experiences with each other and learning how they have grown and changed. I was quickly rooting for them to get their second chance and happily ever after.
As much as I loved the story, I felt that the romance aspect was only a small portion of what was going on. There is so much more to this story than Kristen and Finn's rekindling love.

Oh my this is one of those books that after reading it I was pulling out my crafts to create and looking up all kinds of baked goods to make. Why you ask? Because inside this book Author Dani Collins talks all about different ways to DIY the Mistletoe Chalet and and the baked goodies had my mouth watering in the descriptions. That is just some of the wonderful reasons to read this book. The second chance love story between Finn and Kristen was one that I really enjoyed. Clean romance should always be so good. Montana Moose!!! Let me just leave that here for you to search for it in the book (Wink) Then we have this wonderful story of a stepdaughter and her love of her step mom. There is also the warmth of the family feeling in the Chalet itself that makes this book one worth reading time and time again. I enjoyed the details of how the hotel was run and how they went about setting up for the holiday. The DIY part of the book really got my own creativity bug in action too.
Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet by Dani Collins is a second chance romance Christmas story. The characters are likable especially Kristen. She has a friendly, encouraging spirit that draws the other characters to her. Mistletoe Chalet is a special place that she shines in while working there. I enjoy seeing someone enjoy their work in those around me as well as in the books that I read.
Unexpectantly a former boyfriend makes an appearance. Finn Garrett stopping at the Chalet to simply check on Kristen. It is easy for him to jump into the festivities there, throwing them together. A lot happens in a short time, but it was clear early on that their story was never finished. Now the time is right. What fun.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“They stood at a fresh crossroads, and this time, his gut told him, taking the path away from her would be the wrong one.” Some of must haves for my holiday reading romances are a snowy scene, beautifully described setting and decorations, traditions, and family. Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet has all that and more. A sweet, clean, holiday romance gives a former couple who are establishing themselves in their careers a second chance at romance. The secondary characters are wonderful too and play a big part in this story. If you’re looking for a sweet, drama free Christmas romance, I think you’ll enjoy Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet. A sweet second chance at romance set during Christmas time.
When Kristen Benz decides on a career change, she takes a temporary job at Mistletoe Chalet to see if it was what she wanted to do. The last thing she expected was to run into her old boyfriend, Finn Garrett. Finn found out where Kristen was working and he set out to win her back. A little bit of Christmas magic goes a long way in this story and gives Kristen and Finn the happily ever after they deserve.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were very likable and the story flowed easily along. The descriptions made it believable. If you are looking for a good holiday romance, you will really enjoy this one.
Wedding at Misteltoe Chalet is a sweet scond chance romance set in a mountain chalet durning the Christmas period. This book will have you wishing you were spending the holidays holed up on a mountain durning a snow storm it’s about reconnecting, it’s about friendships but most important it’s about love. Dani Collins does a wonderful job describing the setting and the Christmas decorations her characters are easy to love and the story flows so all in all this is a sweet romance with great characters and no drama so if like me you love Christmas and romance this is the perfect holiday season read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
