I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. As much as I wish I could leave a glowing review, I can’t. I mean this with the utmost sincerity, I am not trying to be mean or disrespectful in any way. But, in the spirit of being honest, here are my thoughts:

-First and foremost, the grammar. There are a lot, and I mean a LOT of grammatical errors. Some are subtle but most are very, very noticeable and it’s distracting.

-The writing is extremely repetitive. The same things are written over and over again, and sometimes almost word for word. It’s frustrating to read the same thing multiple times.

-The sentence structure and writing is amateur. There are way too many exclamation points used. Unfortunately you can tell that this is the author’s first book. Everything is very surface-level.

-Characters talk to themselves. Like, in dialogue. It’s strange and feels awkward.

-I wish I had highlighted how many times the word “joy” is written. Apparently it is the only word known to describe feeling happy.

-The FMC, Adilyn, is OVERLY (to the point of coming across incredibly fake) polite & nice to EVERYONE, but is randomly rude to Asher upon their first meeting? I feel like the author is trying to set the stage for tension between these two characters, but the behavior is so out of character for Adilyn that it feels very forced.

-Speaking of Asher, once we are introduced to his POV chapters, they are a complete waste of space. All the author does is repeat the happenings from the previous chapter, but from his perspective instead. Again with the repetitiveness, much of the chapter is copy & paste from the previous one as told by Adilyn. Asher’s POV chapters would be so much better served to pick up and continue from where the last chapter left off, and write about something new.

-There is a scene where Adilyn is talking to the trees and telling them that they are her only friends… it makes *slightly* more sense later in the book but upon reading that for the first time, it is so, so, so cringe.

-Adilyn’s mom literally tells her what the mom & dad’s powers were… then 4 pages later “a jolt of disbelief” runs through Adilyn when Stephanie says what Adilyn’s dad’s power was. Like, what? We were literally just informed of this, it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone.

-In a later scene, Hillary claims to have forgotten all about the dream she had from “several years ago” ……… buttttt she’s the one who literally just told Adilyn that part of the reason she left Tim was BECAUSE of that recent dream, and all the details of what it entailed!

I am usually generous with my reviews and I’ve never had to keep a list of grievances before, so this is a first for me. I normally read books of this length in 3-5 days but this one took me much longer to read because it was really hard to get through. It would have done the author wonders to have had the book reviewed professionally by an editor. I highly suggest that for potential future books.

I had the chance to read this book as an ARC, and I'm really thankful to the author for the opportunity.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm usually not a harsh rater, and I never DNF a book. This book... I almost DNF'd it and struggled between a 1 ☆ rating and 2 ☆ rating. I ended up giving it a two because it has potential if the author finds a good proofreader and editor. The concept of the story was really good, and I loved the descriptions of the magical creatures, especially towards the end.

My inner editor (which is super rusty) wanted a physical copy of the ARC and a red pen because there were so many things that killed the enjoyment I could have had from this book:

• The writing was very formal. Almost too formal. It felt like a third person PoV book, but it's written in the first person. This made the dialogue feel unnatural and made the book feel super slow.

• There are several parts of the book that were repetitive. Especially the chapters told from PoVs other than Adilyn/Alona. While I enjoy seeing things from multiple perspectives, having the exact same scene repeated from another person's perspective was kind of boring. I do understand wanting to showcase the other characters perspective of the events, but why retell the exact same scene? Why not write a scene that comes after with the second character and with them thinking about it or talking to one of the other characters about it?

• This book was very much a "tell" not "show" kind of book. We do get to read the characters internal thoughts, but their actions were very mundane and didn't have me rooting for any of them.

• The ARC had a lot of grammatical and formatting errors or typos, including wrong words being used. The author did say she was going to have those fixed though.

• The sentence structure was a bit jarring at times. The way sentences are written feels very middle grade instead of young adult. They're short and don't always flow well from one thought to the next.

• The transitions within each chapter can also be jarring and several times I was lost and thinking, "Wait, I thought they were at x, how are they now at y?", and having to flip back through the pages to see if I missed something (I didn't).

This book is definitely not the most terrible thing I've read. The author has a lot of good ideas, and I might even pick up a future copy of this book and reread it if it's cleaned up. The copy I read just failed to live up to its potential for me.

This book is about a girl named Adilyn who has bounced around from home to home. Often times she feels alone and different in this world, but she finds solace in nature. With her impending 18th birthday she worries about what life will hold for her, but she would never guess how her world would be thrown upside down. This is a sweet coming of age story, with found family and facing your inner battles.

My thoughts: I can see the potential that Court of Emerald Dreams has. I feel the author needed to spend a little more time on it to make it flow slightly better. It was very slow pace and I wish we would have made it to the fae land sooner. It was a little repetitive, but her attention to detail was good. You could easily picture what the different locations looked like. This book is YA and I would agree with that as it is definitely geared more for teens. There is some language, Mostly a**, d***, and an f***. That being said, I was so grateful for the opportunity to review this book and can’t wait to see how Haley grows an author

Here’s an author to keep on your watchlist! Court of Emerald Dreams is the debut novel for author H. Wulf and it’s a beautiful tribute to nature and its power. Adilyn is a normal girl, working a normal day job, and going to high school. All of that is upended on her 18th birthday when she discovers that she’s anything but normal. Most of this book is spent in the current world and I wish we could have seen more of her fantasy world before the end. I look forward to book 2 and seeing this author’s fleshed-out details of the world. If you’re new to fantasy, this would be a great one to start with. It’s not overwhelming on details or new worlds or difficult concepts. Great starts to the series!

I was given an arc of this book for my honest review.

Court of Emerald Dreams is Haley Wulfs debut novel into the world of young adult fantasy. The story follows Adilyn who has bounced from foster home to foster home, feeling alone and different in her little town, a creative artist and someone who finds solace in nature. On her eighteenth birthday her world turns upside down as she finds out she is the lost princess of the Emerald Court.

I liked the connection to nature, Haley’s description of the forests, so real you could almost picture yourself there, I liked the relationship Adilyn had with Dani and the maternal love that was evident throughout the book.
I was a bit put off my Adilyns inner monologue, and she felt very very young to me, almost like I was reading the POV from a 12 year old. The timeline was also very confusing, what would feel like weeks was actually only one day.
I did not like the romance, i did not understand the instant dislike Adilyn had to Asher, I felt that there had to be something missing as to why she instantly was angry at him.
Overall I did like the plot, I did like the feel of cozy fantasy, and it would be a great beginner fantasy for young teens.
Thank you for the chance to read and review this book.

ARC Review

Tropes:
mental health
cozy fantasy
modern world to fantasy realm
animal companions
fated mates
magic
found family
multiple POVs

Court of Emerald Dreams is a cozy fantasy story following 18 yr old Adilyn. Adilyn was left on the front porch of the town's fire chief as an infant and has lived a life in different foster homes ever since. Always feeling like an outcast and different that the people surrounding her, Adilyn finds solace in painting, reading, working on the local cafe, and being in the forest among the tall oak trees. Here, she feels she belongs more than anywhere else.

Adilyn befriends new girl Stephanie- leading to the truth behind Adilyn's identity and a world called Eldermyst, a fae land full of magic. And within this land, Adilyn must fight back the dark forces taking over and save the Emerald Court from being destroyed for good.

I enjoyed Court of Emerald Dreams! I thought it was definitely a cozy YA Fantasy, which could be enjoyed by any age range. CoED is Book 1 of the Eldermyst Series and focuses primarily on preparing Adilyn to enter Eldermyst to reclaim her throne. I will say some readers may find the story dragged out but I actually enjoyed the speed. It was much more realistic to me vs other fantasies where I feel you "prepare" and then jump right into the midst of action. It definitely leaves you wanting Book 2, which I feel is going to be good!

The set up for the world building of Eldermyst was good and I'm excited to see more of this world! Aidlyn definitely comes off as a newly graduated high schooler- and she should! Why do people expect 18 yr olds to have the maturity of 40 yr olds? She's got a some anxiety issues, which I love, it adds depth to a character.

Overall, Court of Emerald Dreams gives off Throne of Glass, meets Harry Potter, meets Zodiac Academy vibes for me. And I'm here for it all.

This is such an amazing story of a girl finding her true self, as well as processing it with her found family. I have come to love each character for different reasons. And I can relate in ways to Adilyn. The details and emotion in each chapter is so beautiful. I can't wait to continue my journey in the world of CoED!💚

Court of Emerald Dreams
By H. Wulf
Book to be released July 1, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️

My fave quote❤️

“Something magical happens when you sit and read a book.”

Court of Emerald Dreams is Haley Wulfs debut novel into the world of young adult fantasy.
On Adilyn 18th birthday she discovers she is no ordinary foster child but the princess of Emerald Court. Throughout the book she learns about the Fae world and her powers and how she must return to save her world from the dark Orion.
Adilyn character development throughout the book left me loving her as the main character. Especially when her friendship with Stephanie blossoms. It took till the end of the book to start to see the slow burn romance and I wish it was thoughtout the book more. As I enjoy Adilyn and Asher’s banter. Dani’s maternal love for Adilyn was lovely throughout the book.
Overall I enjoyed the plot of the book whoever the time line did confuse me at times as it would feel like weeks went by when actually it was only a day, and I wished we got to the fae world faster not right at the end. I loved however the attention to detail Haley has throughout the book. I could picture the forest and smell what she was describing. It made her world come to life throughout the pages.

Court of Emerald of dreams was written for young adult and I’d agree with that and feel that audience would enjoy immersing into her world.

I feel like Haley Wulf did really well for her debut novel and I cannot wait to continue the journey of reading her books about Eldermyst and how Adilyn will try to save her kingdom plus hopefully more romance between Adilyn and Asher.

Thank you so much so Haley for the copy of your book!

First things first, my review is my own thoughts and opinions. Unfortunately not every book speaks to me, this is one of those books. My intention is not to be mean, it’s taken me a while to write a review because I still wanted it to be thoughtful. I am disappointed it was not for me.

I loved the way nature was described. It was immersive, and the entire reason I picked this book. The thought that the trees were listening, how the flowers and everything was described. I loved that. The concept of the book as a whole was super interesting, and I liked the backstory at the very beginning of the book as to how Adilyn ended up in the mortal world.

I did not like Adilyn as a character. To me, she read very juvenile, much younger than 17/18. I did not enjoy her inner monologue. It read very much “I’m not like other girls”, especially when she’s dealing with the painfully stereotypical mean girls. She is nice to everyone, almost to the point it feels forced. Except to Asher, who she hates right from the start? It seemed weird and out of character.

Asher’s POVs were hard to get through. It repeats everything that happens in Adilyn’s POV, sometimes almost word for word. I also would have liked if some of the descriptions of things would have had more variety, as although I enjoyed most of them, they were also repetitive.

Overall I liked the idea, but the book itself was not for me.

I'm rating this four stars for its potential. I'm looking forward to seeing the author refine their craft. I really enjoyed the premise and world building of this book. The premise feels very Keeper of the Lost Cities coded, which is my oldest daughter's favorite series.

This is a slow burn romantic subplot series (I suspect). While there is no spice and only a sprinkling of tension, the set up for future romance is well done overall. I'll freely admit that I'm really looking forward to seeing that relationship grow.

This is a coming of age chosen one, secret princess fantasy with found family and a smattering of prophecy.

Overall, I liked this book. Like many indie debuts, there is room for growth with further edits, but the bones are solid. Definitely worth checking out and keeping an eye on this author's future endeavors!

Content: language, verbal spousal and child ab*se,

Thank you to the author for the advanced reader copy of this book. This review is voluntarily written and the thoughts and opinions contained in this review are my own.

ARC Review (thank you for this opportunity!):

Court of Emerald Dreams is a super cozy fantasy. I loved the elements of nature and the slow buildup to the fantasy.

I compare this novel to a Hallmark movie. While it may not be a blockbuster, you better believe we are going to hunker down with a tea and cozy blanket to indulge. It’s a sweet, feel-good story. I like that this book really develops the characters, especially the FMC. It all takes place over the span of a few weeks, and Adilyn’s development is quite vast within that time. For the vibes of this novel, think coffee shop, art studio, found-family, horse-riding, oak trees and forests.

I think one of my favourite secondary characters is Dani (I think we are owed a Stella’s muffins recipe??). Dani’s love and protection for Adilyn is apparent and very sweet. She reminds me of Miss Potts in Beauty and the Beast with her motherly nature.

I liked the point-of-view switch between chapters; albeit repetitive, it allows us into Asher’s (the MMC’s) mind. While we don’t learn a lot about Asher in this book I am looking forward to seeing how he develops.

This debut novel was really a build-up to a fantasy world. I was left wanting to know what happens next!

May be best suited to an introductory fantasy reader such as a youth or young adult wanting to explore fantasy. It would be fitting given that Adilyn is graduating high school. Low stakes in this book, no spice, mild content.

Promising Start

I liked the premise for Court of Emerald Dreams, but unfortunately, it was too YA for me. That being said, I believe it has a promising start and is a good setup for Book 2.

COED is perfect for someone looking for a nice, cozy read with good banter and no romance (not sure if that will change as the series progresses).

I did think there were too many choppy sentences, but overall, I give it 3.75 stars.

I received this book as an ARC, but my views are my own.

Court of Emerald Dreams offers a charming premise and a relatable protagonist in Adilyn, a foster child turned fae princess. The nature-driven magic and cozy fantasy vibe are appealing, but the slow pacing and limited world-building hold it back. While the story has potential, it feels like it only scratches the surface of what it could be. A decent start to the series, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next book goes.

A Court Of Emerald Dreams ARC review.

If you're looking for your next YA read, go no further. You've found what you're looking for.
You start with this seemingly ordinary, but not, girl Adilyn and the life she lives while jumping from foster home to foster home. You see her find a passion in art and a home in a coffee shop, all while not really finding herself.
The relatability I found from Adilyn and her awkwardness was comforting. It portrayed what it felt like to be the girl who didn't fit in well in school and had less "popular" hobbies really clearly. The way she fights anxiety and a lack of self-confidence with breathing and escaping into nature is one of the most relatable feelings I have with her. In fact, her relationship with the trees, animals, and nature in general was just the most wholesome beautiful thing. There are so many scenes that are vividly painted out for you to the point I could really envision what I feel like the author intended you to see/feel. This book really touched on some heavy topics such as bullying, alcoholism, feeling lost, and more in the lightest, most inclusive way. The world building is really beautiful and has a lot of potential to become something widely known, and an extra special thing I recommend looking for is her beautiful foreshadowing Haley Wulf is absolutely an author to keep an eye on.

Considering all of these wonderful things, I do believe there is always room for improvement and was left wanting more or confused by a few things. Firstly, I'd say that structurally, I sometimes had trouble with how paragraphs were often built with many few worded sentences, where I felt like they could be transitioned smoothly into one thought. The focus makes its way across really well, but it feels a bit broken up with the shorter sentences. I'd also say that I often felt confused by the timeline of things. It would feel like weeks went by, but then you'd find out it was only a few days, if that. I was also very confused by the immediate dislike Adilyn portrays towards Asher. It comes off feeling very young, or even like she's just mad at him for being attractive and confident. I do understand that the feelings there could be from a bond I feel like is hinted at but not confirmed, but I'd of liked to see quite a bit more depth earlier on for these characters together to really build off and keep us deeply invested and give us more of a "on the edge of your seat" kind of feeling. I love their banter, and the multiple pov for them, and I enjoy how they hold eachother up, I just so badly wanted to understand so much more (good or bad) just to have more feelings there in general.
Personal issue, the deep seeded frustration I had at waiting and waiting to see something you've heard about so much about only to end on the edge of a cliffhanger. Some people love it, I don't want to wait all the way for the next book to read more, but I'm going to, obviously.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for a fair and honest review of this book.

I am saying this with the upmost respect and sincerity, and in no way want to be mean. It has to be scary to write a book and put yourself out there in this way, and I don’t want to discount that. But this book was very, very difficult to read. I love the premise, I think it’s unique and something I have not seen before. But it was poorly executed. I’ll give a few reasons below:

- The grammar and sentence structure were all over the place. These characters did not speak, act, or think in a normal or consistent way, whatsoever.

- It’s very elementary. Calling this book a young adult fantasy book is incorrect. I would categorize this as middle-school aged, for readers trying to learn basic novel structure and storytelling. The way everything is explicitly spelled out and explained, leaving nothing to the reader’s imagination, makes it feel immature.

- This book was abundant with discrepancies. I started noticing that the timeline and settings did not match up. For example, Adilyn would go to school on a Tuesday, wake up the next day and suddenly it was Saturday, and then the next day she was back in school again, and it was her last day? This happened SEVERAL times, so often, in fact, that I eventually stopped keeping track. In addition, in Asher’s POV, which is just the same scene, again, he says different things to her than he did in Adilyn’s POV. Like, they have completely different conversations in the two different POVs of the SAME conversation. THIS is where I actually started to get angry, because it felt lazy and disrespectful to the readers.

- Last, I was honestly rooting against Adilyn. She was the epitome of the “not like other girls” stereotype. She was MEAN and weird.

I tried so hard to get through this book. At about 41% I couldn’t do it anymore. I was getting so angry and frustrated that I decided it wasn’t fair to me or the author for me to keep reading. I do hope that Wulf can get her story in front of an editor and make some serious improvements to the book.

Court of Emerald Dreams ARC Review ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 - I really wish we could have halves on here!

This sweet book is @haley.reads.34 debut young adult fantasy! It definitely has a cozy feel! I enjoyed reading it, and it’s a book I think young adults who are just getting into fantasy would enjoy!
Swipe ➡️ for a synopsis!

Adilyn’s character is so sweet and kind, and I loved watching her grow in strength and confidence. I enjoyed watching her grow especially under the influence of her female friendships with Dani and Stephanie. They pour into Adilyn throughout the whole book building her up and encouraging her during difficult moments in such a beautiful way. Female friendships are always a favorite of mine!

There’s some slight romantic tension between Adilyn and Asher throughout the book. Adilyn is always annoyed by Asher’s sarcasm with banter back and forth, but as they train, Asher starts to open up more with her. So it will be interesting to see how their relationship develops in future books!

I really enjoyed the plot of the book as Adilyn’s character develops and prepares for her journey to Eldermyst after finding out she is the lost princess of the Emerald Court! Some of the timeline was a little confusing after she is told about her true background and she begins her training, but not too bad. I also wish we could have seen more of the Fae world before the end of the book too because the glimpse we got was beautiful!!! But that just leaves the audience in anticipation for the next phase of the journey to saving Eldermyst!!!✨💚

Overall this was a really fun, cozy read, and one I will be looking to buy for my classroom library!

Thank you so much to Haley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I have been following Haley write her debut novel for some time on Instagram and it’s amazing to see it completed!

I also want to note that this is a debut, indie novel, written by Haley and reviewed by her family. There was no big editors involved. With that being said, I do see a lot of other reviews mentioning typos and repetition. Unfortunately that can draw from the ARC reading experience.

As a whole, I loved the idea, the roots she has for this story. The imagery with nature and the color emerald is so beautiful. I loved that the FMC had people from home looking out for her the entire time she was growing up, even if she had no idea she wasn’t a normal human. I think this story and series has a lot of promise.

There definitely needs to be a lot of editing. I like multi POV but felt it could have been left to just the MMC and FMC. I didn’t like having to reread the same scenes from different POVs. Some of the conversations felt incredibly awkward, and a lot of exclamation points could have been left out. It was also pretty slow, seeing as they had just finally made it to the fae realm at the end of the book.

However, the story and imagery were lovely and as I said before, a good few rounds of editing could have easily made this a 4-5⭐️ book! I’m so excited to see where Haley’s writing career goes from here!

This book was such a different experience from what I am used to reading and it was kind of refreshing!

The world of this book is interesting. It is set in a regular town called Clay Wood, but they spend the whole time talking about the realm of the Fae. The author has me SO excited to see more of the Fae realm in book two because you can not help but fall in love with it because of the way they all long to be there.

Adilyn as a character is so compelling. She is relatable to anyone who has ever felt like they don't fit in or struggles with anxious thoughts. She is a heroine with kindness at her core which was nice to see!

The ROMANCE! This is definitely a slow burn! The tension between these characters is very well done. Most of their scenes had me giggle and swooning all over the place! This relationship is my favorite part of the book!

I gave it three stars because the pacing was hard. It was slower than I like my books to be and spent a lot of time on little details. For some people that is totally their thing, but for me it was tough.

That all being said, I will probably read the next one!

I received this ARC for the Court of Emerald Dreams for my review. This is the debut novel for this author and overall the story line holds promise, however I struggled with the flow of the book. There seemed to be a lot of repetition and feeling like I’m reading the main character POV in more of a step by step/task orientation with the descriptions/details. Some paragraphs were pretty redundant and I ended up skimming several throughout the book.

This is a YA fantasy book, the female main character Adilyn feels younger than the 17-18 year old she portrays. She struggles with friends in school and learns she fairs better in nature than with people. Her best friend is her boss/coworker who becomes more like the family she never had. Adilyn feels she doesn’t belong based on how she looks and has struggled forming connections growing up being moved from foster family to foster family. Eventually, she learns the truth about her heritage and comes to terms with what she must face to embrace her future.

This is book one of the series so it does end preparing for book two - not on a cliffhanger though so don’t worry about that.

Overall I think this book has potential, just needs some editing.

I actually REALLY enjoyed this storyline. I loved each of the characters and look forward to continuing the story in book 2. This is a fantastical YA book that can be enjoyed by all. There was a lot of character building in this first book that sets up the entire series - I do wish we could have see more of the magical realm in this book but understand how this first book was setting up for that.

I loved the dual POV but did find some of it to be very repetitive. I wish Asher’s chapters didn’t recount the same events as Adilyns… we get a few more new details and thoughts added but I much more enjoyed when his chapters were telling events that we hadn’t heard before. I know the grammar and spelling errors will be fixed before publishing so those were not an issue and didn’t distract from the story at all. While the writing may not be the most refined… I STILL REALLY enjoyed this story. I’ll happily continue to read the rest of the series.

I don’t want to spoil any of the storyline but absolutely loved the development of characters and relationships in this book.

Court of Emerald Dreams is H. Wulf’s debut novel and it is a must read for anyone looking to begin their fantasy journey! On Adilyn’s 18 birthday, she discovers that she is not your average foster child, instead she is a princess of the Emerald Court- a mystical world much like the ones Adilyn spent her childhood reading about. She begins her journey learning all about her Fae world, her own powers, and the history of her people, as well as meeting characters who will stand by her side as she discovers her Court. I absolutely adored the found family aspect of this story & Adilyn’s relationships with Dani and Stephanie. I wish we got to see more of Eldermyst rather than the small glimpse we did receive, but it leaves me even more anxious for book 2. If you love young adult reads and are looking to dive into a fantasy world with magic, this book is for you. I can’t wait to see where H. Wulf leads Adlyin’s journey into Eldermyst.

ARC Review
Court of Emerald Dreams
By H. Wulf

H. Wolf did a wonderful job with her debut to the fantasy realm of books. Court of Emerald Dreams will touch basis with those who may be looking for themselves, all while having crazy fate happen that makes you have to start from square one and immerse yourself into unknown lands. Just like Adilyn did when turning 18.

The descriptions in this book are what really did me in. I couldn't help but imagine myself there and witnessing all of the beauty. Nature is near and dear to my heart so I was really and truely happy.

I think for some readers it may be a slow start but for those who are getting into reading of fantasy may enjoy the slow turn of events, the rollcoaster of emotions, and fate that can catch us when we least expect it.

I look forward to reading what comes next.

You'll enjoy this read if you like the following:

Fantasy.
Being true to ones self.
Royal families.
Tension. Angst.
Mental health and awareness.

This book is the first in a YA fantasy series. It follows Adilyn, a girl who bounced from home to home, no one to call family except for her lovely boss and the trees. Following a quickly blossoming friendship and some not so heartfelt encounters with a certain guy, Adilyn gets shocking news about who she really is.

I very much liked this book. It was sweet and showed how difficult life could sometimes be, and how fast in can turn into something rather good. The book was somewhat repetitive, and rather slow paced. It's definitely a good book for people who like YA or are just getting started with fantasy. I loved the nature elements and Adilyn's connection to the woods. The dynamics with her and her friends was nice to read, after knowing how hard it was for Adilyn to make friends. I loved the characters, who were relatable and still exciting to read. I'm looking forward to reading the next book, and seeing Adilyn evolve even further.

I received this ARC in exchange of an honest review. Thank you, Haley!

This book is a blend of ordinary life and fantasy. Adilyn discovers on her eighteenth birthday that she is the lost princess of the Emerald Court. The book is great in its vivid descriptions of nature, making the realm feel almost tangible.

While Adilyn's character very relatable, her inner monologue is somewhat unnatural. The story spends much time in the current world, leaving the fantasy realm feeling rushed and underexplored. Despite this, the novel is an engaging fantasy story without overwhelming details.

Overall, Wulf's descriptive writing, slow burn romance and character development make this a promising start to a new series. I look forward to seeing how the story and this fantasy realm evolve in future installments.

Note: I received an Advanced Reader Copy in return for an honest review of the book.

This is a young adult fantasy series and rated as such. I think this author has great potential and look forward to seeing how this series progresses. This first book is really getting to know the main character and her life before her hidden identity is revealed. Not very much of the fae world shown is yet and the love story really just starting at the end, leading up to a great place to start the 2nd book. As it was a building of her story it moved a little slow for me but very intriguing as to what will come next. I enjoyed the themes of found family and building a strong female character.

Firstly, there’s a glossary, so already this book is leaps and bounds above others!
The premise of Court of Emerald Dreams is a good one, and I’m intrigued to see what happens to our characters next!
The author has written beautiful characters and I like the addition of the different POVs every so often!
I’m just surmising, but I’d wager the author is a fan of Fourth Wing and Throne of Glass.
Court of Emerald Dreams has similar vibes, and I love it!
If you like fae, the magic of nature, he fell first and a shy young lady finding her feet, then Court of Emerald Dreams is for you!
This book will happily fit in with other YA fantasy!

I can’t wait for book 2! 😍

Have loved reading this book , having the privilege to be an arc reader 🥰 This book is a perfect intro the world of fay and magic .For anyone who feels misunderstood when it comes to feeling like home around nature , when admiring it's eternal beauty comes as natruly as breathing as well as for someone who feel misunderstood or called way too emotional ♥️ This was a feel good read with adventure , love and friendship ♥️ In places it felt slightly rushed , but in general good read , I am person who share love for nature so it was nice to read about someone who feels similar 🥰

ARC Review

I really wanted to love this book because the world it builds is so fascinating. It's cool how we learn about the customs and history alongside the characters. Plus, the creatures are super imaginative, and having a glossary is a nice touch. I love nature so I loved reading and having a main character love nature too! Seriously, who wouldn't want to be a Valkyrie riding a Pegasus after reading this?

That said, I have to be honest—it wasn't my favorite read. The different points of view felt repetitive and didn't really add much. The conversations also felt forced and didn't flow naturally. And there was quite a bit of unnecessary repetition where the same things were explained over and over again. Another thing that bugged me was how much the main character talks to herself out loud—it just felt weird. Don’t get me wrong, I talk outloud, but some of the things felt strange.

Also many parts seemed too similar to ACOTAR and Fourth Wing. I know author’s take inspiration from other authors, but some of this seemed too similar and I was hoping for some unique elements.

I do think the series has potential, though. I hope the author can tweak the writing style in future books to make the characters feel more real and the story more engaging. Despite its flaws, Court of Emerald Dreams lays a good foundation for what could become a really compelling series for fans of fantasy adventures.

court of emerald dreams 🍀🌸💫⚔️

arc read 📖
spoiler free 🌼

release day - July 1 2024

This book was a lovely read I immediately got hooked into the story and the writing style reminded me abit of a diary also the friendship and family dinamics were wrote quite realistically.

This book had mental health and healing aswell as the healing from an abusive relationship which was good to see being highlighted.

I enjoyed reading about the grumpy x sunshine love interest in this book and I'm very excited to find out how their love for eachother develops especially with fated mates being brought up in the book. 💕

It also has some similarities to the a court of thorns and roses series with a winged male and different courts. The court of emerald dreams book gives off more cosy vibes though so far 🌼.

Thank you so much for the free copy haley I 🌹.
