Sweet Nightmares #1

The Vampire's Melody

Rate this book
Every vampire must sing its song...

I'm just walking through an abandoned house, minding my own business, when - wham! - I'm no longer alone. Instead, I'm thrust into a world I know nothing about, a world I'm not ready for, and a world filled with real, live vampires. Well, I'm not sure that they're alive, but you know what I mean.

The people who live here in this house - the vamps - are older than me. They're more experienced than me. They're...broodier than me.

They also know that when this adventure is over, I'm going to have to make a very hard choice, and I'm just not sure that I'm ready.

Sweet Nightmares: The Vampire's Melody is a polyamorous, bisexual, open-door steamy book featuring vampires, biting, and lots and lots of fangs. This story includes puns, humor, joking around, pop culture references, and of course, lots of drinking blood.

This was such a great read and I loved the premise behind how they came together. She was helping a friend out, taking photos of an abandoned building and then hears music...her fav band's music. When she opens the door to see what's happening, she gets way more than she bargained for ;P What follows is quite the reading adventure, with fab characters and a ton of steam. And biting...lol! I'm definitely looking forward to the next book :D

Nope, this got weird real fast. The set up for Melody to meet her love interests was pretty contrived and out there but I let myself go with it for the sake of the story. But once Melody finds the band secretly playing in the basement things got weird and nothing about Melody's reactions or behavior were in any way normal or believable. Really bummed this one didn't work for me.

This is book one of the Sweet Nightmares series and the main character is a woman called Melody Hawk, who loves the music of an old band, Vampire’s Shadow, and works a dead end job to make ends meet. She is off in the remote woods, to take photos of an old abandoned orphanage for her best friend Violet, who has a booming website and business in Urban Exploring. Violet finds old abandoned buildings of interest for others to come and explore. Melody hadn’t heard much about the place, only that she needed to be back for her shift by seven and should have tried to come earlier, as the light is already starting to fade. She takes pictures as she approaches, but finds the inside a bit more dangerous on the inside, with the stairs going up not worth risking. What she didn’t expect from Violet’s information, is to find a door with steps leading way, way down, below the main building. She finally turns off her music, as this is always how the lone female ends up dead in the flicks! When she reaches the bottom, she finds herself in a very clean looking corridor, with loads of doors leading off, but most are locked! She finally finds an open one and continues on, wondering why it is so clean, with no spiders, cobwebs or even dust! She eventually hears music in the distance and comes into a dark room, where three people are playing instruments at the far end and singing songs by her favourite band!

She knows all the words and starts to sing along, unable to actually see the people at the other end of the room clearly, until suddenly, a fourth person grabs her around the throat and chest! It seems she has walked into somewhere where she really shouldn’t have! Surprisingly, she isn’t scared or frightened so much as excited, being able to hear her favourite songs being played so well. What happens next is not what anyone in that situation might expect, as she has a strange interaction with a close group that she soon finds out are the actual band she loves, but also vampires! The four have been together for some time and love each other in a polyamorous relationship. She has walked into a possibly dangerous situation and will have to figure out if she can actually come out of this alive or not? Her life may not be exactly great outside of here, but she still isn’t ready to die! Her time goes by quickly, as she gets to know Paul, Rose, Gerald and Liam and soon becomes involved with them all. But she has to make a hard decision at some point, she could stay there as she is, or she could leave and go back to her old life. There are lots of matters to consider and also the history of the orphanage, which is closely linked to one of the vampires and his former life. News from the outside brings worries of enemies from the past and plans for the abandoned building. Certainly a different kind of vampire story and one well worth reading! I look forward to catching the rest of this series and seeing what else happens to this group of characters. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This is my second story I've read by Sophie Stern about Vampires. The first I read is "Megan Slays Vampires". This is a very enjoyable story that is about Melody who is doing a favor for Violet by taking pictures of an old abandon orphanage after the sun sets for a web site. Exploring the inside of the house listening to her favorite band, Vampire's Shadow on her ear buds while taking pictures, she discovers a band singing and playing on a stage when she's exploring the basement. She's caught by a person hiding in the shadowed seats. What happens next is a steamy, twisty romance story as Melody discovers who they truly are. Loved the characters, Rose, Paul, Liam and Gerald the band members and her friend, Violet. There's dangerous villain after the band for the intrigue in this story. What does Melody decide to do when she finds out the truth? I received a free copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is a poly/menage between 4 vampires (3 male, one female) and a human female.

The set up for everyone meeting was bizarre, she's urban exploring alone and swings between not being afraid and then listing why everyone else is afraid to explore. She then stumbles across a vampire goth band (who happens to be her idols) who have not been seen in public for decades.

Everyone is involved with everyone else and things get steamy real fast. We get to find out about the vampire's history and how they ended up together, and why they have to hide.

There is a little mystery and an outside threat that complicates things.

I found the story fairly completed in this book - no cliffhanger, although it does carry on into the next book with another threat to another vampire. But for me, this is the end of the series as I can't see myself continuing with the next book.

The Vampire’s Melody
By: Sophie Stern
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I think this might have been my first vampire read. It was definitely interesting. It’s fast paced. Melody goes out for a friend of her to an abandoned orphanage to take pictures. While doing this she finds a basement that isn’t listed in the description of the building. She explores the basement and finds some people playing music from her favorite band. Little does she know who they actually are. We find out that it is actually her favorite band and they are vampires. After we read the story of them falling in love with each other and learning that Melody is all of their mate. This book ends on a fairly happy note. It was a little faster than I would normally read but there is enough filler information and things that happen that you get used to the pace.

Ok, this was pretty neat! I’ve never read a vampire book quite like this one and thankfully it was also a fairly quick read! - polyamorous vampires that are also a band of musicians… Our human FMC stumbles upon them in the basement of an abandoned orphanage and she just so happens to be their biggest fan. However, she’s not sure if she can give up her human life for them… MMFFM romance. Spice level about 2.5/5 and you also have some sleuthing and intrigue towards end of the book! Also, this is part of a series, it doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger, but the epilogue allows you to see where things might go if you want to check out the next book.

This book brings you rock and roll and everything that comes with it. There was action and love as well as vampires. This love story starts off as something that makes you think but you can almost feel the angst of Melody to finally come to a decision. I cannot wait to see if there will be more set in this world with these characters.

Not quite sure what I was expecting with this book. I found it somewhat wacky, a bit confusing (but in a good way) and completely different to anything else like this. Melody is out to take photos of an old orphanage, part of Urban Exploring which her friend is writing about. Except when she gets there she finds herself in the basement and there is a band playing music. Not any band, her favourite. Has she hit her head and she's in a coma or something else entirely happening?

An amazing story. This is a reverse harem story following Melody and her Vampires Shadow band. Melody goes to an abandoned orphange to take some photos for her friends blog, but there she hears music and then finds her favourite band playing who should not be so young. But they are. Thats when she finds out they are Vampires. Loved reading their story. Thanx.

this is a vampire menage romance, that has tons of emotion, elements of suspense and action, as well as some great steamy bits. the story line is well written with well rounded deep characters who all have their own personalities, that shine through. I really cannot wait to read the next one in the series.

I really thought this was an unusual read. I enjoyed the characters in this book. 4 Vampires to 1 human makes the mix different. If you like unusual situations then this book is for you. I will be reading more of Sophie Stern's books.

Yes I DNFed this book exactly 9% in when the FMC became “very aroused” when she was grabbed from behind, in the basement of a haunted orphanage, as shes watching these dudes play her favorite music… 🙄

Good

It's a different kind of story and while its unique its also good. The characters are complex and you know there's more depth to them than what you see.

This was an absolutely ridiculous, fun and horny book. Interesting thing to note: it wasn't as spicy as the horniness would suggest. Not to say it wasn't steamy but it's just hella horny XD

You have why choose, vampires, rockstars all together. This is about a poly group of vampires (yes there is biting) who are all with each other when they find the main character and decide they'd like to be with her too.

There's not much on page spice but the characters do talk about it how often they do it off page. They may start scenes or have ones that feel rushed and then you time skip ahead. I think there could have been potential for a lot more characterization. And there isn't much of a plot but the book isn't bad it was a quick, easy read.
