Mirador Publishing invited submissions of short stories celebrating the Weird and the Wonderful. We were overwhelmed by the number and the quality of entries. Choosing the winners proved to be a monumental task. Our criteria centred on the gifts of story telling and imagination. We believe these should be the overriding considerations, for the exploration of the human condition through the story telling process. We take great pleasure in presenting this selection by some of the world's most promising new writers and we look forward to working with these immensely talented story tellers on future projects. Have fun and lose yourself in the wonderful Mirador Fantasmagoria.

It's nice to show some support for new writers, and Mirador offer them a chance to get published if they win a competition. This collection is the result of one such competiton. It contains mostly horror stories and showcases great new writers. Some of the 28 entries were brilliant, others were excellent stories with writing that show signs of promise but needed tightening up, and for a couple the authors need a bit more experience.
Really enjoyable collection of short stories which I highly recommend.
My top 5 (alphabetically) are:
Richard Adamski (You Never Know) Mike Berlin (A Dream Adventure) Drue Fairlie (The Last Dreadnought) Barrie Gray (Dragon Slayer) Wilkie Martin (No Bed of Roses)
A wonderfully eclectic combination of short stories that make you want to read more by the authors featured. So many good tales and something for everyone. Delighted to see Wilkie Martin in there. I recently discovered Wilkie on YouTube, where his style and delivery was a delight to watch, ‘No Bed of Roses’ is another good example of his work and talent!
This was a good book for an escape from reality. If you like stories that you can pick up when you have a spare half an hour, and that show you new realms and places to visit in your imagination, then this is for you. It has a bit of fantasy, a bit of horror, a bit of sci-fi, everything you could ask for, and all from fresh new authors just waiting to be discovered.
